My wife and I held both our ceremony and reception at Amber Grove this past April, and we truly couldn't be more pleased. From our first visit to the final moments of our wedding day, everything came together beautifully. John, the owner, and Kristina, his assistant, were an absolute pleasure to work with--supportive, communicative, and accommodating throughout the entire planning process and on the big day itself.
As with any event, especially one as complex as a wedding, there were a few curveballs. The weather didn't cooperate for our rehearsal, forcing us indoors, and temperatures remained colder than we would've liked on the day itself. But John and Kristina handled it all with grace and professionalism. They provided heaters for the tent and made sure the ceremony seating was dried off in advance--small details that made a big difference.
Like many weddings, we ran a little behind schedule (group photos always take a bit longer than expected!), and I approached John about possibly extending our reception by an hour. He was extremely gracious and only asked that he first confirm with his staff, which he did. Everyone agreed, and we were able to relax and enjoy the rest of the night without stress. That kind of flexibility and understanding isn't something you find everywhere, and it meant a lot to us.
The food was excellent, the staff was attentive and professional, and we received countless compliments from our guests about how well everything came together. We felt completely cared for from beginning to end. Any time we had a request, it was met with enthusiasm and a "let's make it happen" attitude. John, Kristina, and their team genuinely went above and beyond to make our day as perfect as possible, and we're incredibly grateful.
Now, I'd like to briefly address a particularly negative review that was left here by one of our guests. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, I believe it's important to provide context. This guest criticized John for appearing "dazed" and commented on the temperature near the tent opening. In truth, John had recently undergone open-heart surgery, and our wedding was one of the first events he returned for. Despite that, he remained warm, welcoming, and present throughout the day--not just with us, but with our guests as well. Criticizing someone for their physical recovery is, in my opinion, unfair and unkind.
As for the temperature, yes, it was a chilly spring day, but the team at Amber Grove had several heaters running throughout the tent. In fact, one was so effective near the bridal party that we had to ask for it to be turned off because we were starting to sweat! They did everything within reason--and then some--to make our guests comfortable.
Ultimately, we had a truly magical wedding at Amber Grove. The venue was stunning, the staff phenomenal, and the memories unforgettable. If you're looking for a wedding venue in the Richmond area, we cannot recommend Amber Grove highly enough. read more
