My daughter and I were window shopping in Auburn and stepped into this adorable shop. They have a fun mix of expensive things to marvel at and actually affordable jewelry and stones. The owner came out and I braced myself for him cringing at me bringing a little kid in his store but my daughter loves science so I chanced it. He's actually a kid person and was so friendly. I had some turquoise and silver jewelry that didn't suit me, and I wanted to sell it somewhere where someone would be able to see it, buy it for a reasonable price, and enjoy it. It was wonderful to be able to go here and sell the jewelry and know that it will be lovingly displayed for potential buyers! Yes, the selection they have is really beautiful, unlike anything I've seen, but what makes Amber Collection so unique (other than the vast amount of amber they have) is the vibe of the owners. Andrew is so knowledgable about the details of everything they have without going overboard (this is a fine line to walk when he is a super expert from doing this for so many years, and he can't know immediately how much the customers already know or don't know about the stones or the way the jewelry is made!), and in fact, my friend and I enjoyed talking to them so much we had trouble leaving! It is easy to drive by this store and keep going. You can not see in the store from the window, you can only see a sign about Baltic Amber and a picture of a piece of amber with a spider inclusion. Only a few pieces have inclusions and they are actually more expensive (the insect I believe are prehistoric). Personally, I do not like spiders and bugs dead or alive, amber no bug please for me. This store sells one of a kind beautiful pieces of jewelery including necklaces, rings, and earrings at a moderate price. I did not even think I liked amber until I strolled in there one day. If you happen to be in the area just take a quick peek in and I know you will find it difficult to walk out without making a purchase. If you love amber it is worth the drive. read more

I was used to their store in Redondo Beach and was shocked to find they had closed up and moved to Sacramento area. Fortunately, I also moved to Norcal area. I visited their store in pretty Auburn. What a lovely town and such a perfect and quiet setting for this store. Quite a haven for their amber collection. It never fails to dazzle in here. I think its a kind of therapy to be surrounded by so much natural beauty all shades of gold, cognac, lemon, bark, ivory white, green, and butterscotch. I bought several pieces that I absolutely love and wear often. The owner was so nice and helpful. Like being in a small European artisan shop. The amber selection is very good. Rings, bracelets, cuffs, earrings, pendants, necklaces, large showy pieces, delicate dainty pieces, its all here. I make it a point to visit this store each time I head into Sacramento area. We went to this charming store with the intent of only finding the size of a diamond anniversary ring for our 93 year old aunt as she recently had to be moved into a skilled nursing facility and we didn't want her to wear an expensive ring that may be misplaced, lost or worse. We were planning on buying something online (so glad we didn't). The owners of Amber Collection were AMAZING! They spent time finding a very cost effective replacement that was very similar to the original ring. And they had it sized so it fit her finger perfectly. I came here and purchased an amber necklace for my daughter about a year ago. She recently broke the necklace, so I took it in to have it fixed. The lady who helped me was SO nice. She had a box of Legos for my kids to play with, while she looked over the necklace. Instead of fixing it she just exchanged it for a new one for no charge. I originally went into this store "just looking." The staff was super nice and ever so helpful. Needless to say I left with a beautiful necklace. The prices are great & let me tell you I'm a bargain shopper for sure and rarely by myself anything. Also the selection is large. You could find something for anyone here. OMG! This is my all-time favorite store. I've dragged all my good friends there at one time or another. And I live over an hour away! Not one has been able to walk out without buying something. One friend was so impressed with the quality and the prices, that she bought bracelets for her sisters and mother for Christmas. And it was SUMMERTIME! You can trust these people. They don't sell the cheaper quality copal that you see in most stores and they don't sell the manmade fake amber. You get the real deal, here. Their prices are VERY fair. You can get inexpensive elastic bracelets that are beautiful, or beautiful, inexpensive, simple rings or earrings. But they also have amazing one-of-a-kind pieces that are reasonably priced. They have the polished bead necklaces and bracelets as well as the raw, rough beaded ones. They have the golden, cherry, green, and butterscotch amber. I've bought rings, toe rings, bracelets, and necklaces here. As the other reviewer mentioned, the store is EASY to miss. If you're traveling west on Artesia (the 91 becomes Artesia), the store is on the right just past Slauson St. You have to really look for that "Amber Collection" sign. There is limited parking in front. I find it easier to park in back. I visited Amber Collection yesterday, May 14, for the first time in several years. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's EVEN BETTER than it was before! There are MORE glass cases of incredible amber! In addition they have turquoise, ruby, carnelian, oh my! There's coral, lapis, emerald, and jasper. Violeta is still there along with her husband, and the personalized service and genuine, good-soul, friendliness is unchanged. I quickly found a great pair of unusual earrings, which was my goal for the day, so I was soon trying on one marvelous amber necklace after another. I loved one necklace that had almost a charm-necklace feel to it. I felt the earrings were a bit too bulky so Violeta began removing pieces and changing elements until they were perfect. Natually, I bought both the necklace and the now-perfect earrings. There was a very pretty, very inexpensive necklace made from shell. It was really too short for me so Violeta added large pearls at the back to make it longer, and tiny pearls as spacers in the very front to make the longer length lay perfectly on my neck. She didn't charge me for the work or the pearls! There were also some unusual bracelets made up of different jaspers set in silver. I laid one with rectangular segments on my wrist. It looked great, but was really much too tight. Fit is never an issue at Amber Collection. Violeta reached into her bag of tricks, found a large silver link that went beautifully with the piece and attached it to the bracelet. OMG! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that bracelet. I also liked one of the more casual elastic bracelets of large, raw, amber chunks. But again, it was too tight. She pulled out a drawer of amber chunks, found a few she liked, and had her husband drill holes in them. A few minutes later I had a very comfortable bracelet to match one of the necklaces I bought there about 8 years ago. When I realized I hadn't gotten earrings for one of my necklaces that I needed earrings for, out came the drawer of pieces again. Violeta made me a fun, funky, pair of earrings that consisted of two dangling elements one of which incorporated a curved piece of silver tubing. When I left I had in my bag, five necklaces, five pairs of earrings, two bracelets, and a very unusual amber ring. Of those, one necklace, two pairs of earrings, and the bracelets where altered to accommodate either my taste, or my size. You HAVE to check out this store! read more

My husband took me to this store as we were waiting for our truck to be repaired to show me the lovely pieces of amber and fossilized insects caught within. I hadn't planned on buying anything, but the lovely jewelry, very reasonable prices (much lower than I anticipated), helpful (but not pushy) staff/owner, and encouragement of my husband were hard to resist. We stayed quite a while, as the store is somewhat of a museum as well, and the warmth of Violetta and Andrew drew us into conversations over many interesting things. read more
