**NOTE: The correct name of this business is Krosbie Hairdressing"…read more Upon making the (daring) jump from Michigan to London, one of my first concerns as a girl about town was, "Who will cut my hair?" A friend suggested I visit Krosbie Hairdressing which is local to me so I thought I'd give it a shot. I had recently cut five inches off of my hair after my wedding and had the urge to cut it a bit shorter. Krosbie Hairdressing gave me the experience I was looking for. I made an appointment and was told I'd be seeing Robert. Although I arrived a little early, he was ready to begin our appointment and sat me down to talk to me about what I'd like to do with my hair. He looked at it, examined what had been done recently, asked me questions about the color I had and when it was done. I explained all I wanted was for it to be shorter, obviously healthier, and for me to still be able to throw it up in a pony tail if I felt like I didn't want to fuss with it on any particular day. I was seated promptly for a wash and a really good conditioning (which my hair needed). The girl shampooing and conditioning my hair was friendly, appropriate and the water was the perfect temperature. After my hair was clean and conditioned, Robert began working his magic on my hair. He removed all the damaged, leveled my hair out (after showing that the last person who cut my hair was a bit careless and had some drastic differences in length - NOT to be confused with layers). He used products on my hair and explained what he was doing every step of the way which is important when you're new to a place and slightly nervous about a new salon and stylist working on your hair. He did a quick blowdry and straightened a few sections and once he was done, I had smooth, sleek, very stylish and healthy hair - exactly what I wanted without having the words to express it. A wash, cut and blowdry cost 46 pounds - a bit more than I was prepared to pay but I happily paid it. From now on, I'll skip the blowdry to save me a few pounds (unless, of course, it's an extra special day) and make sure to visit Robert regularly. It's not easy to gain my trust when it comes to my hair but it was a really easy and pleasant experience at Krosbie. Leave your coffee and tea at home, too - you'll be offered a beverage when you walk in. Great experience and I'm surprised no one has reviewed it thus far - try it!

I often go to Krosbie hairdressers myself, and always have Robert Kane Simon do my hair, he is a…read moreperfectionist in his field, so I decided to let my friend Rima Shinde and her son Ishayu try him out for themselves. On entering the salon we were greeted by the ebullient Mr Robert Kane Simon, who cordially introduced himself to my guests and then invited Rima to the chair where he does his materpieces on various clients. Firstly , he asked whether she preferred tea or coffee, he then examined her hair and decided how best to proceed to create another of his masterpieces. He offered advice and suggestions to Rima, who agreed wholeheartedly with Robert and then he proceeded to design her hair. It was a work of art when finished, as he worked tirelessly for an hour, talking with Rima and explaining every step of the way what he was proposing to do. Once finished she could not believe she was the same person, she looked fantastic. Then he started on the 8 year olds hair - Ishayu and explained to Rima what he proposed and made him look fantastic. He talked to him throughout and at the end the little boy's face lit up in delight. What a charming fellow this Mr Robert Kane Simon is , he is well known in the profession and if you are able to make an appointment with him, you will not be disappointed, he is one of the greatest hairdressers in the country . What a wonderful experience going to Krosbie hairdressers of Edgware Try it and try to obtain an appointment with the great Robert and tell me if I am not wrong.

The first HOB salon opened here in 1983 (if the website is to be believed), although the current…read moresalon doesn't seem to be on the original site. It's a little pricey and always very busy, but at the same time the staff are all very professional, all the stations are clean, they always find a way to fit you in, and they provide quality services. I can't speak for the other HOB salons (I think they've expanded to approximately 20 salons around London), but I believe the reason they are able to offer a consistently high level of service at the Mill Hill salon is because of their training academy. All their stylists have to spend some time at the HOB training academy, so you can be sure that each one has accredited training and experience. I used to get my hair cut by Danny many years ago, but he's no longer with HOB. Most recently I had my hair dyed by Desiré and then blow-dried by Fergle. Desiré didn't do as full a consultation as I would have liked, however I was only asking for an all-over semi-permanent colour so it wasn't a big deal. She was a bit boring as stylists go; that being said, I wasn't paying her to be entertaining but to do a good job, and the colour came out very well indeed. Fergle encapsulates everything you expect of a male hairstylist, and he understood exactly what kind of blow dry I wanted. I felt so comfortable in his hands, I booked a hair cut with him as soon as the appointment was over. The overall result was what I wanted: a nice plummy red colour and a flirty blow dry. The price was a little more than necessary: 63 pounds for the colour and blow dry, which is why I have dropped one star. I have dropped another star on account of the quality of service... I know, I know, I spent two sentences describing the service as GOOD above, but it's not EXCELLENT. Yes, you can trust everyone in the salon to do an adequate job, but I've never had anyone there do an EXCELLENT job (except for my old stylist, Danny, who is no longer there). You'd expect that a salon with so many other branches and it's own training academy would produce brilliant stylists, however it seems the ones who are that good use their HOB training to eventually work somewhere else. Still, if you need a solid hair cut, colour or blow dry, and you don't mind spending your pennies, this place does the job.

WARNING! SCAM! TLDR: Was charged for expensive services I…read morehadn't requested and was blatantly lied to when I queried it. Details below. Be very, very careful before you book an appointment at this salon. I booked a balayage appointment, which requires a mandatory blow dry and toner, each paid for separately. I went and had my appointment and then went to pay. As well as those three services, they had added another expensive toner and a Plex treatment. The blow-dry cost was also much higher than advertised. I was an idiot and just tapped down my card without disputing this because I was so shocked. I walked back in 5 minutes later to have a conversation and request a refund, and although this was a straightforward overcharge issue, I was told to come back another day when the colourist was in. I returned in on Monday to explain again the problem. To my shock, I was blatantly lied to. They claimed that they had told me during the consultation exactly what treatments they were booking, and how much they would cost. They then said that they had repeated this information when I came for the appointment. Neither of these conversations occurred, and I couldn't do anything when they were straight out lying. The manager told me she was ending the conversation, and there was nothing I could do except leave. (Note the overcharging on the blow dry was because I was given a 'senior stylist' rather than a 'stylist', without being told, and also because my hair was curled. When a hairdresser asks you how would you like your hair styled, and you ask for beach waves you never imagine they will charge more, I've never heard of that. And again, no cost was mentioned, or the fact there would be an extra charge). It was a significant amount of money, and I am still pursuing this through my bank as a fraudulent charge and the HOB head office. I will update if the head office is any more helpful than this salon was. Very disappointing, will not be coming back.

I have straight hair and I'm afraid HOB is a one trick pony when it comes to straight hair. I've…read morebeen to various branches of HOB around 5 times over the years but the only cut they want to inflict is a bob that reaches the hairline at the back of my neck. Whilst technically good, It takes several months for the hair to grow back again. Such short bobs are not for everyone, plus it is such a dated look.
