I hate giving bad reviews, but this one deserves it…read more First, the okay (nothing was great): the beer was beer, the atmosphere was okay, the staff was nice, location was good The bad: Chips were stale, served in a small basket, tasted like off brand Tostitos and they were slow on bringing a new chip basket. Queso was congealed and lumpy, and after asking them to microwave it up to liquify it a bit, same issue when we got it back. Salsa was terrible (tried a bunch of them, nothing good) and the cups were too small to dip a chip in them. My wife got the beef nachos, that came cold and the beef was tasteless, not to mention the same issue with the cold queso on the nachos. I got a Milanese (might have messed up the spelling), which is breaded and fried beef with tortillas, salad, rice and beans. The beef wasn't good at all, the tortillas were okay, the rice didn't taste seasoned and the beans were watered down enough to the consistency of soup. To top it all off, this place was on the expensive side of Mexican food. If you're in Anderson looking for Mexican, just go up Hwy 81 to Papas and Beer.

Cafeteria grade food at its worst!…read more Started the order with a cold FLAT beer. After bringing it to the waitresses attention she said she was advised to not serve any more beer from tap. Then we saw another table get served one a few minutes later. We ordered the Texas Nachos which had a cheese sauce, that literally had zero cheese flavor. Honestly, canned nacho cheese would have been welcomed. The white "cheese" sauce was just thickened milk, no cheese. The meat on it was cold and old. The shrimp was literally cold in the center and the steak was hard and chewy, so much so I gave up chewing after a few minutes. No veggies or items on top to qualify as nachos. Both the nachos and tacos came out together in about five minutes or less. So, the food is NOT made to order. It appeared to be RTE, which is not what you would expect from a sit down full service restaurant. Even taco trucks make the food to order! My husband and I ordered two taco's each, pastor and chorizo. It came out in one basket, I guess for us to take turns eating. It's not a good sign when we couldn't tell the tacos apart. They had zero flavor and one small scoop of some kind of meat each. But I will be very excited if we don't get sick from them. While there we also witnessed the chips baskets are pre done and stacked on top of one another in totes. So the bottom of the baskets that have been on every dirty table touches the top of your chips, which were stale. Yum! Well, we tried it and can hopefully save someone from a disappointing dining experience. Don't waste your time or money here!

An excellent little store and food counter in Lavonia!…read more They have the best tacos I've had in the area (and the al pastor tacos are as good as I've ever had). Bonus? Most of the tacos (with doubled soft corn shells) are only $1.50! My kids love the chicken quesadillas ($8). The green sauce that comes with it (in a container) is just the right flavor/spice (they also have limes with them and garnish with radishes... it works!). Another bonus? They sell the premixed al pastor by the pound (along with other meats). We bought a few pounds yesterday for taco night (on a Monday). It was excellent. The selection of tacos, burritos, etc. is really good (including guts and tongue; there's a photo of the menu here on Yelp). No fish, vegetarian, or vegan, though. The store has exactly the kinds of things you'd hope for. The last bonus? The service is friendly and efficient. I go there every Sunday. I've never seen it empty and it caters to all our local folks with joy. Keep it up Los Gomez and God bless you!

The food is the best that I have had as far as authentic Mexican food. Did I mention cheap? Tacos are only $1.50 each! This is cheaper than Taco Bell and this is actually real food! They have fresh cut meats like chicken, beef and pork. They have real pork skins that they fry up. Us southerners love those. They have a huge selection of Mexican goods to be a small Mexican store. If it's authentic that your looking for then definitely stop by here.

I was skeptical at first, but when I walked into the restaurant, I knew that I had made the right decision it was decorated very nicely and very, very clean. I was greeted immediately by the host, and it was a very nice experience talking to her. They had very many selections to choose from for food. The chips that they serve with the salsa were so crisp and light. They were very delicious. I ordered the shrimp and scallops over rice with a salad. It was very delicious and cooked to perfection. My dish did not come with tortillas, but I asked for them and I must say those were the best tortillas I have ever eaten. I am uncertain if they were made in house or store-bought, but they were absolutely delicious.. I almost never ordered dessert, but I wanted to try what they offered and I must say that it was the best dessert I think I have ever had.. I love ice cream and coffee. The dessert hit spot. If you have an opportunity to order dessert, I suggest you order this, but it is so much that it would be something that you would want to share with the other people in your party! My waiter was very attentive to my needs and I rate this restaurant a five star!

El Centenario is definitely authentic Mexican for sure. If you're a "Tex-Mex" lover and want to upgrade your pallet this is where it's at. I don't think we'll be going to any other Mexican restaurant here in Greenwood. And the drinks are fire.
