I was a new patient. First time visiting this dentist. I had two crowns that I needed to get replaced. This was the third set of crowns that I'm getting. Made a big mistake coming to Amara Dental, Dr. Jordan ruined my teeth. Be cautious coming here and getting dental work done. Regardless of how many positive reviews they may have, they do make mistakes and the mistakes that they make, people have to live with for the rest of their lives. She didn't disclose to me that she was going to shave down the adjacent teeth to my crown and lower the level of my crown. She created a situation where she shaved down my teeth and now the bottom row of my teeth do not aligned properly. I'm a grown woman I'm 43 years old and I look absolutely ridiculous. Being customer-facing makes it even 10 times more difficult to have to walk around and look the way that I do now after Dr Jordan decided to play arts and crafts with my teeth. She shaved down two perfectly good teeth that had already been reshapened previous with the other crowns that I had done years ago. She didn't disclose to me that she was going to completely change the alignment of the bottom row of my teeth I look absolutely ridiculous I'm a grown woman and I have to look like this for the rest of my life. The only solution that she was able to come up with is for me to pay to have crowns put on the teeth that she destroyed. So now I'm pretty much walking around with shaved down teeth and a crown that doesn't come up to the level that it should come up to. To add insult to injury like a big punch to the face they sit there and constantly send you nonstop emails and text messages if you have any balance due with them and if you don't pay it right away they keep adding money on to it until you do pay it. I was given no explanation as to why I still owed money even though I paid in my balance full nobody disclosed to me that I had money that was still owed and due they just kept sending constant non-stop emails and text messages bombarding me. There are much better dentist out there, dentist that have more experience and that have been in business a lot longer than this place. I would have went back to the original dentist that did the crowns in the first place but my insurance didn't cover that particular dentist. I highly suggest you do your research, read the reviews and don't focus on the positive reviews, read the negative reviews because of those are the real true, authentic, genuine reviews that you need to be focusing on. Amara Dental, thanks for ruining my teeth, I have to walk around looking like this for the rest of my life. Word of Mouth goes a long way. I'm in the process of placing a complaint with the board of dentistry in the state of New Jersey and the attorney's General's office if you have a similar experience, I suggest you do the same. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE. There used to be specialists on staff, but this has been discontinued. My regular dentist of choice now works elsewhere and the current staff dentist brushes off my concerns. With a previous crown from this practice, my existing retainers did not fit & I had to go to my orthodontist for new ones at a cost of $130. At a recent crown procedure, I repeatedly stressed the importance of fitting properly with my retainers. Well, it didn't fit properly, so I returned. Shortly thereafter, I received a $30 set of invoices (both e-mail & text) for this return visit TO FIX A PROBLEM CREATED BY AMARA DENTAL! In the intervening 6 weeks, I have now received three additional sets of invoices. Amara Dental REFUSES to credit back this charge. I've been going to this dental practice for several years. I have continued to go to there b/c I really like my hygienist (Megan) for bimonthly perio cleanings - but I'm definitely now searching for another practice. read more

The care of my teeth has been quite good at Amara, especially in the last year or two and I've found the people at the front desk to be responsive and helpful. However, I'll need to check on alternative care due to the expense. I have a dental insurance supplement to my Medicare, but so much is not covered. Perhaps it's standard..no matter where I go, but my bills are running into the thousands. My previous ins coverage provided by my employment seemed so much better. Seniors get screwed. I went there awhile ago (pre covid) and the procedures went smoothly, however, there seemed to be a lot of out of pocket costs despite having decent dental insurance so I requested an itemized copy of my bill. They told me that I couldn't receive that because their billing is done out of the office. Ultimately decided to take my business elsewhere since I didn't feel comfortable paying hundreds of dollars without knowing what I was paying for. read more

Since Dr. Farren left, I am very displeased with the level of care and new billing practice. They switch dentists and don't tell you until you are in the chair. I've had multiple fillings not done correctly, requiring a return visit to remove the new filling and redo it. Most recently, I left with more mouth pain than when I entered. To top it off, they are now charging a 3% credit card fee. read more

This is my second review of Amara. I first came here in 2017 and I still continue to be happy with the practice. I'm not sure why the two last reviews were so negative. This is a multi-purpose practice where I've seen an endo-dontist and most recently an oral surgeon. The staff is always kind and pleasant as are the clinical staff and hygienists. Unfortunately dental care isn't cheap especially if you haven't been able to keep up with your care or just don't have great teeth despite brushing and flossing daily, but this is a place I trust and I just do as much as I can afford but keep going back. I have huge, huge dental anxiety, almost to the point of panic attacks. I've been going to Amara Dental but today went for something that had worried me sick. From the beginning, Ashley (the nurse/hygienist) was so calming and reassuring. She even shared how she has had extensive work and calmed me through my tears. Tears. I'm just a mess at the dentist! Dr Vespia then came in and also was so calming and reassuring, as well. Neither were judgmental, like many dental offices I've encountered in the past. The office staff have been nice and the staff and dentists seem very professional. That said, my initial checkup resulted in a recommendation to have two teeth puuled, a crown and a filling. After the filling, I noticed that food would get stuck, only to find out that the dentist had failed to establish an appropriate contact with the tooth and another tooth. I then went to another dentist who told me that one tooth was a lost cause but the other could be saved--he was surprised thst the Amera dentist had not looked under the tooth. Finally, the crown they put in failed after a year; I chose not to return and ask for a refund and so my insurance would not pay and I paid myself with the new dentist...bottom line, they appear polite and professional, with the latest technology, but I lost faith with them read more

It was a horrible experience. Went in for a very simple procedure and ended up with a crown. Told I needed root canal and I still 4 weeks later do not need a root canal. Before I could stop him he had already prepared my tooth for a crown, so I was stuck and had to go threw the whole crown procedure for no reason. I used to enjoy the services here but my last 2 visits were horrendous. Specifically today, I had an appointment the beginning of the month and had to reschedule because the assistant was sick. I took the first appointment I could (today 2:30) and had to leave work to come which is never easy due to my line of work. Since the new year we got new insurance at my company and when I informed the receptionist she was snippy and told me "well you need to give me a minute because now I have to call and verify" okay that's fine but no need for the attitude. However over a half an hour goes by people who walked in are being taken back. So I asked how much longer she asked me for my name again which there were 2 people in the waiting room like you know what I'm referring to. And said "oooooh right yeah I'm trying to get a hold of them" and didn't even look up from her computer. I canceled my appointment right there and will be looking for a new dentist. read more

I am no fan of the dental chair and as a result my teeth have suffered for it. I chipped a tooth that had a large cavity in it that other dentists ignored and one even told me I had to get braces before she could fill it. Today I went to Amara dental and was treated with excellent care and respect. The dentist Dr Berkey was down to earth, friendly and had a great rapport with her assistant. She cleaned out the cavity, filled it and I didn't experience any pain or discomfort. She made a tooth that I have been embarrassed by for YEARS look as if I never had a problem. This is a great practice from the moment I checked in with the friendly reception to the great care and then checking out and being happy to make a follow up appointment. Absolutely zero stars!!! Huge scam and the worst experience I have ever had at a dentist. Moved to the area drawn to their flexible schedule and clean office I gave it a try. The doctor was not friendly, she didn't explain anything just sent this hygienist in who then presented me with a treatment plan- one costing hundreds of dollars every few months. I expressed I just wanted a routine visit when they told me they could not clean my teeth unless I bought their treatment plan. Waste of time, scam, horrible staff. Worst experience ever!!!! Love this dentist office! The office is relaxing and beautiful, there is a cooler with bottled water, coffee, a table with a puzzle and the normal TV and magazines. I had no luck with this office. A few months ago I had a crown done there, which caused changes in my bite and ensuing discomfort. Recently I went again to treat severe tooth pain. (Thinking that everyone deserves a 2nd chance.) 2 visits and some fillings later, the pain is actually getting worse. As I called for best ways of pain relief today, my calls were completely ignored. Went there to save a broken tooth received a crown, my replacement crown is on my dresser it feel off...had a second appointment set waited in chair "thirty four" minutes finally got up and left. Charged $122.00 for initial appointment with dental plan and then $857.00 for the crown. Would not refer this office to any one.Dental cost are high enough without receiving poor quality work with lousy results.They overbook their appointments and make you wait but send you four or five emails as reminders about the appointment as well as four or five phone calls reminding you of your appointment even thou you already responded acceptance about appointment. I was a brand new patient just having a regular cleaning done, and I couldn't have been more disappointed in the service. They made me wait 45 minutes past my appointment time to even bring me back into the cleaning room. and this was only after I went to the receptionist and asked how much longer it would be. Once I got back to the cleaning room, the assistant was wasting more time talking to me about her personal dental problems, all while I'm STILL waiting for someone to actually start my appointment. I asked when the hygienist would come in. She looked at the computer calendar and made a weird face and said it was going to be awhile. I don't even know how that's possible since my appointment was scheduled 45 minutes prior. I told her that if it was going to take more than 5 minutes for the hygienist to see me, then I would have to leave. She bluntly told me it would take much longer than 5 minutes. This is the longest review that I ever wrote. First visit for teeth cleaning was okay. Came back for my second cleaning and was told that I need filling done on my posterior tooth. I was giving a payment amount of $26 for the service and was told the insurance company is paying for the remaining. Didn't give me a breakdown of how much the whole procedure will cost and how much much will my insurance paying. They told me that I was only responsible for $26. Got the filling done. A month later, I received a bill for $83.00. I called the office and was informed that they just resubmitted the claim to the insurance company and just hold on to that bill. Now, I received the same bill again. Called the office and the first rep was telling me that because they used the white filling on my posterior tooth and my insurance isn't covered for it. Instead my insurance paid them the alternative amount. I asked how come the office didn't let me know up front on what type of filling that will be used and if they review my benefit statement from United Concordia then they should have known if the white filling will be covered or not. My call then got transfer to another rep, Patricia. She told me that they have no control on it and the amount that was given to me of $26 was just their best estimation. I told her that the representative didn't say that when I scheduled for my filling. I even asked the rep at the front desk do I owe anything after my filling and was told "No". Patricia was then repeating that I need to understand that they have no control on why the insurance company didn't pay for the remaining. I told her that this is the office fault since they failed to review my benefit statement carefully and didn't inform me about the procedure such as how much it will be and what type of filling will be done. She kept stating that they have no control on the payment and coverage. She didn't even offer that she will discuss it with the dentist and get back to me. Kept telling me that I have to understand this and that. So unprofessional. On a side note, the dentist was nice; however, they they need a better receptionist. I am so disappointed with the service I received when calling the front desk. I guess it's time for me to look for a new dentist. read more

Loved this dentist! I have had a few bad experiences with dentist over the years so I was nervous to try a new one, but happy I did. Front desk staff was very pleasant and friendly and the dentist himself was down to earth and even funny, making me feel very comfortable. The office was nice and had a good feel. I give one star for paper work and their carelessness....I was put on hold on the phone for while from Jessica for complaining about delaying my refund .she was talking over me with louder tone none stop .......refund that was due to their mistake .they sent request to medical insurance instead of dental and they got denied of course.we had to pay for the service and I was suspicious and called the dental insurance and they said they didn't receive any request (no file from the office) .called the office and explain and she said the policy and all none sense and I had to beg her to resend it ....got approved and I waited for them to get the payment from the insurance ...now with the money from the insurance and my money ...guess what I still didn't get the refund and they said they can't get contact with the refund people and they request it again ......beside being rude and pretending that they working on the problem and by the way I was the one calling every time to find out ...they never seem to care about after the fact but very nice when they receive the payment read more
