Couldn't count how many numbing shots I got. She hit a nerve a couple times while cleaning and I felt the shooting pain go down my neck. Five days after my last of three sessions of deep cleaning I'm so swollen and it looks like I have a ball protruding from my neck. My jaw starts throbbing and it hurts to swallow in the afternoon and I'm miserable. Completely ruined my yearly vacation with friends. I can only eat soft food and haven't been going to dinner with my friends. Wish I would've known the pain I'd be in. I would have put it off until after. Never got any discharge instructions to take home to let me know what will happen, what to expect and what to look for. They just sent me on my way. Dr. Smith has no compassion and no regard for the pain I've endured the last few days and still am experiencing. I contacted her a couple times via text to let her know what was happening. She told me it was definitely not normal to have the swelling and painful swallowing. And that was it. Never wanted to talk to me about was going on. I asked if it could be infection. She said probably not but still prescribed antibiotics. Nothing for the pain. She seems to think 800 mg of ibuprofen will help the pain. Well, it doesn't. Apparently she has never had the procedure and doesn't know how bad it can hurt. Hopefully in a couple days things will start feeling better.

Dr Claussen Smith and her staff immediately put me at ease. I can say listening to the sounds of the early Beatles while I was there was quite relaxing and took the edge off. Also , Dr Claussen Smith gave me the right amount of anesthetic so that I had very little pain during the procedure. Afterwards, she gave me thorough discharge instructions and her cell number to call for any questions or problems.
