Ciaran is my go-to guy for anything (he's done one whole sleeve for me). He's an expert at coverup, too. I haven't been to Sarah but she is nice and her work looks good, too. Make sure to check out each artist's portfolio online (or in store) and their art styles. While each artist can do any style, some have a lot of experience in one type. For instance, I chose Ciaran because the time he's spent tattooing in general AND because he's done loads of Asian-style pieces.

The front desk gave me the expectations; I understood them clearly. My piercer, Erin, was really helpful. I explained to her my situation with the last piercer at black sapphire; she gave me a longer stud for my healing process. Really patient with me about the position before piercing. Everybody was helpful and really calm and quick. The second piercing was less painful with Erin than the first one, especially close to my old piercing.

I am trans and at no point did anyone make me feel the least bit uncomfortable. Grace did my first ever piercings, 2 sets in my ears. She was pleasant, communicated well, and she made me feel at ease. The piercings themselves barely hurt, and she provided good aftercare instructions. I would highly recommend Grace to anyone getting their first piercing.

Laurent's work is simply beautiful. He was certain to explore what I was looking for in design, give me his input when I asked for it and ensure that I was happily with the design prior to having it inked. I felt at ease during the process as Laurent was able to chat when I was I wanted to but worked quietly when I needed to have time to leave off on conversation. While his overall manner was what I needed, the quality of the work was what stood out the most. My Asian inspired tattoo ran from my foot to just above my knee and was completed in only two sessions. His work was quick considering the intricacy of the design but exceeded my expectations in its quality. The tattoo was simply beautiful and exactly what I wanted in its design. I will definitely be returning to Old Salt Tattooers for more work and would definitely recommend Old Salt Tattooers to others as well.

He is just that good. I had 4 sessions with him totally about 9 hours with him. I never felt awkward even with my shirt and bra off. He took time to listen to my idea for this tatoo. It started 14 years ago with a shamrock in Ireland, and here I am today. He not only made this vision come to life, he even fixed a few I got over seas when the idea got lost in translation. This is a tribute to the places I have been and makes me want to go more. Some people have huge homes, I want a huge tatoo/memories! I know to book my appointment with him before I even leave! I hope I am never actually done with this back piece. And that it turns into side, belly and butt travel stickers! Ha. I will be back!

Janelle was the artist I worked with. She was fantastic. This was my 5th tattoo, first at Iron Quill. Like most people, getting a tattoo is still a big deal for me. They are meaningful, each are well thought out, personal, and purposeful. Obviously everyone wants the tattoo to look great, but I also want the experience to be positive. Everyone in the shop was outgoing. The owner bought everyone (including me) subs for lunch. All around it was a great experience. Janelle was super friendly and funny. The tat looks fantastic. I've already told a bunch of people to check the shop out.

Barnaby is very skilled and down to earth and easy to talk to. He just understood what I wanted without seeing my dad's cremation urn. I am actually uploading this in hopes he sees the completed vision. Barnaby took the word Dad and flipped it all around so that it made a butterfly and it's basically like my dad drew it. I cannot Thank him enough for this. Words will never be able to express my gratitude. He really is the best and I strongly urge you to go talk to him and tell him your ideas. He is so very good at what he does and made me feel so comfortable. I also have a fear of needles and the tattoo didn't hurt much at all. I am a mom of 3 and never thought I would have anything put on my body but this was well worth it and I cannot stop staring at this little butterfly tracing along the wings in my brain finding the D and then the a and then the other d. The a is in the antenna... the little curved line is his a. I really cannot stop talking about this tattoo and it's made such a big difference with my Grief. Thank you, Barnaby.
