Amadio Wines is hard to miss because it's located in a shiny black building on Payneham Road. We nearly didn't go in because the sign on their door said they're only open Wednesday to Saturday. As we started walking away, a young woman came running after us to say they're open everyday over the period of Christmas. (Maybe they should put that on their door..)
The cellar door stocks a nice selection of reds, whites and sparklings. At the moment they have a pretty good offer on for their Moscato's: $10 per bottle. That is though if you're a member - of course. Membership costs $45, which I find very reasonable and average in comparison to other similar wineries. With a membership card you get around 2-4 bucks off per bottle, so if you drink a lot wine (like me), it'll save you quite some money over a years' time.
The lady who ran after us was very friendly and helpful and asked us to try their Port (Tawny). Can't say no to that. The 18-year old one tasted lovely and at about 30 bucks for a 2L bottle it isn't too expensive. There's also a younger (6 years I think) and cheaper version of it.
I found the store itself a bit dark and it somehow reminded me of a garage. However, great staff and very good prices. I'll be back! read more
