We did get one for my brother-in-law, however, it is the sales team that didn't further investigate my reticence in him having an in-home aide after my sister died. Of course, the bottom line was more important to them. During this time, their lack of knowledge of my brother-in-law's lack of mental acuity came to bite us. His eating habits didn't help his serious physical issues. He was on the floor the last day the aide found him when he was forced to go to the hospital & then a nursing home. Often when I called, the young woman who answered giggled a lot & didn't seem to take my concerns seriously. I lived over an hour away so the phone was the lifeline to ensuring his best care. You will have to be vigilant, nonetheless, if you go the route of an aide so you know! Make sure the agency listens to your concerns, addresses them, and has a plan with certain recognitions in place to keep you informed on what they see. I called the Dept. of Aging to get advice. Just because the one needing care is an adult doesn't mean they're capable of making their own decisions. First there should be some kind of document for the caregiver/you sign to keep them more accountable. If not, the court may be the only way.
