We had never heard of Roy Robson a German men's clothing company, but we were quickly drawn to the fabrics and design of the clothes. Among the three of us, we bought a suit, two sport jackets, two pair of pants and a winter outer jacket. Of special note was the incredible, personal service we enjoyed from Fatima. We were so impressed by this experience that we drove hours out of our way the following week in Germany to shop at their outlet store where we purchased more clothes and enjoyed more excellent customer service.

I rented skis through the AlpinResorts website for a week of skiing in Grindelwald. My flight out…read moreof the US was cancelled and I left a day later. Not wanting to have my rental cancelled, I emailed their general email address and got a prompt reply confirming that my rental would still be good. Upon getting to Grindelwald, the shop is located on the main street. The rental portion of the shop is located downstairs. The selection of skis was excellent, with a good selection of all-mountain and racing skis. All of them looked brand new. This is a bit unusual, as I've definitely had some well-used skis in the past. The staff member who assisted me set the skis up perfectly. He felt bad that I had pre-paid for the rental via the website and mentioned that AlpinResorts can be difficult to work with around trying to get a partial refund. I mentioned that I had travel insurance and would pursue it through that avenue, but I appreciated his concern and commentary. He had some interesting tips for where to ski in the area and mentioned that the snow wasn't all that great to start the week. He said that if I didn't like my choice, a pair of Volkl's, I was more than welcome to bring them back and swap out for something else. At the end of the week, returning skis/poles were a breeze.

Lots of the great Patagonia gear and really good selection-- they even sell wetsuits in this shop! In fact, I believe they're the only Patagonia store in Europe where you can purchase wetsuits. The prices aren't really discounted, but being Patagonia-- that's not entirely unexpected regardless of where you go. Great staff, very chill owner who's also an avid surfing himself, and a prime location right in the middle of downtown Interlaken. Patagonia's just taking off in Europe (and playing a bit of catch-up to TNF), but happy to support the company and its mission!

As a plus, the flags are made in Switzerland and are high quality vs cheaper quality "Made in China" type flags that are often sold in touristy areas. They manufacture a large variety of flags, particularly Swiss National, Canton, city, and historical flags in a variety of sizes. These are likely hard to find outside of Switzerland. They also take orders for custom flags. . The shop was a short tram ride away from the city center of Bern. I unknowingly arrived during their lunch hour, however they accomadated me nonetheless. This was really appreciated as I was leaving on a train that was leaving before they would have normally been open after lunch. Please note that they only accept cash. I had to jog to an nearby ATM, which they gave me directions to immediately so I think this happens a lot. Consider them for your flag needs if in Bern.

On top of that, there are some really great items there for better prices than I find even at home in the states. If you're visiting Bern, this definitely helps take the sting away from your $9 coffees and $18 sandwiches!
