I am leaving this review to share my experience so others can make an informed decision. I contacted this company to request an estimate for replacing a door at our office. At no point during scheduling or the visit was I clearly told that there would be a service fee or charge for the estimate. A technician came out, briefly assessed the door, took measurements, and discussed possible options. No repair or installation work was performed. The technician was not on-site for a full hour. After the visit, we received an invoice for $430, which included a service call charge and labor. This was unexpected and had never been clearly disclosed or agreed to in advance. The invoice also includes a "signature" indicating that work was completed and accepted. I want to be very clear: this is not my signature, and I did not sign any document authorizing work or charges. Additionally, the invoice states that a proposal would be provided for the recommended work. We never received any follow-up proposal. We have reached out to dispute this invoice and explained all of the above. Despite this, the company continues to pursue payment, harassing us via phone and email. To summarize: * We requested an estimate, not a paid service * No fees were clearly disclosed in advance * No work was performed * The signature on the invoice is not mine * No proposal or follow-up was ever provided Based on this experience, I would strongly encourage others to ask very direct questions about fees in writing before scheduling any visit, as expectations may not be clearly communicated. Additionally, four other companies provided me with a quote and I went with one of these other ones. NONE of those charged us for an estimate or to come out and create a quote. read more

This wording was in the signed contract: "Our technician will arrive onsite and trouble shoot door and add a smaller lock strike to provide sturdier closing and latching and if that does not work then we can add a smoke seal to provide proper closure." The technician came, said nothing could be done and he left. He didnt do anything. Really nothing. No lock strike was added as it says in the contract, and no seal was added as it says in the contract. I was still charged, had 3 calls with the company saying no work was done, and then they threatened me with having the bill go to collections if I didnt pay. But pay for what, exactly? I've never had this happen with a company before. AND, I had arranged via email for the technician to come and look at two bedroom doors inside the house. When the technician came, he was under the impression that he was fixing an outdoor gate at an industrial building. He had no idea why he was at my house nor did he bring any supplies for an indoor bedroom door but said that shouldn't be a problem for some reason even though that was the entire reason he was coming so of course there was no work that could be done as he didnt have any supplies he needed, but I still got charged for everything they put in the contract that was never done. And no one in the company cared and just threatened me with ruining my credit but sending the bill to collections if I didn't pay. I believe the legal term for this is extortion. We hired AM/PM Door Inc. and while the actual work was completed well, the way they handled the service left a very negative impression. I made it clear upfront that, due to their high rates, I wanted to be notified when the technician arrived so that someone from our side could be present. They confirmed this would be done. Instead, the tech came and finished the job without any notice, and I only found out after the fact. Then I received a bill that was double the expected charge. When I asked, I learned they had added a "same day service" fee -- even though I had specifically said this was not urgent. After I pushed back, they simply renamed the charge as a "service charge," even though hourly labor was already listed on the invoice. In other words, I was billed twice for the same service. When I questioned this discrepancy, instead of resolving it fairly, they insisted they were correct and even threatened to send us to collections. As a board representative, I found the whole billing process dishonest and aggressive. While their technicians may do good work, the business practices felt scammy. For an extra $180 they chose to damage their reputation -- I won't be calling them again. ---- UPDATE- AND DECREASED from 2 stars to 1- due to a faulty reply to my review- the business continues to mislead, which is unacceptable. Had to respond so that people know that the reply is faulty: 1- I recieve da phone call letting me know that I will receive a service later that day- I asked on this call- check your recordings- to not start any work UNTIL you let us know tech arrives and we let someone of the building know to meet them- this never happened of course- clearly because they charge by the 15min window. You even admitted it in the email below. Clearly you knew job was don't in less than 30 min but wanted to charge the $439 for your visit. 2- the concerns were raised after the job was done because the concerns are regarding the surprise bill that was sent. Which wa sent after the job was done. 3- I called you guys that evening BEFORE the invoice was sent, to ask where is the technician- letting you know I asked you guys to call us when they arrive- to find our job was already done . I raised it to the last on the answering center that I asked to be called. But never imagined I will receive invoice as i received. 4- To add- they charge YOU for full materials price and clearly stating to you they keep it for their future service calls -- see attached Bottom line- if the company was not aggressive or scammy, they would probably not add a Same Day Service Charge for no reason only to remove it when I mention it and they add it on a different name. My responsibility is to let everyone know how you operate. And hopefully save others the money & experience I had. Not only did this company show up at our home without an appointment based on a quote request, they tried to bill us when the technician was sent away as we did not set an appointment, did not agree to ANY time, did NOT authorize any work to be done. Since that time they have continued to harass us via NUMEROUS phone calls, texts, emails, and in my husband's review. We have emails and texts from a different employee admitting this was a mistake, however the owner has doubled down and is making up his own reality. I called and spoke with owner- very charming. He asked me to give a good Yelp review before any one was even sent out. Um, no. Worker (actually subcontractor) showed up on time, and then my garage door split in 2 sideways. I literally helped him hold door up while he secured it. (No, I didn't charge for my labor) I was told replacement door takes 2-3 weeks and was $2,639. I was billed $180 for service call and $250 for 1 hour of labor. I did not realize I was going to be billed for the phone call. I called Melikson Garage Door the next day. Replaced door in 4 days for $1,700 flat. No extra fees. Matches perfectly, works beautifully. When I called AMPM to dispute the $180 call charge, they said they'd only take off the 10% late fee and that they were actually there 1 1/2 hours and only charged me for 1. Total $430. Wasn't going to do a yelp review, but since he asked me to.... They get 3 stars, because the guy they sent was friendly, and professional. read more

At 5:51 PM, I replied, "Is that one spring or both sides?" At 5:52, I received an auto-reply stating the office had closed. So how could I have scheduled an appointment when the office CLOSED before I could schedule a time?" So how can you tell me I am wrong when you're own employee admits this was a mix-up? A few hours later, I got a text quote. I replied to the text with a follow-up question and got an auto-response that they were closed for the day. OK. The next morning, a tech shows up (I wasn't home) to do the work, even though we had NO appointment and I NEVER agreed to move forward. The technician called me, I told him we had no appointment, and left. A while later, their office called me, and when I explained we never scheduled an appointment and never agreed to any service, the guy started to argue with me! He claimed to know all about my door (duh, I send photos) and they had me in their system (Ok, so what?). But he would never acknowledge that we never agreed on a time. When I got home, they sent me a bill for $305 for the technician to come out and be refused!! It states right on the invoice that I never ordered their service, but they demand I pay them anyway!! Under California Civil Code § 1550, a valid and enforceable contract requires mutual consent. No such consent occurred here. There was no agreement to perform services, no date set, and no work authorized. I have the text messages to prove this. Additionally, California Civil Code § 1584 states that silence or inaction does not constitute acceptance of an offer unless explicitly agreed to in writing. You had no basis to dispatch a technician to my property without consent. Under California Business & Professions Code § 17500, it is unlawful to make misleading representations in connection with a sale or service. Representing that a service was scheduled--when none was--may constitute false or misleading business practice. Finally, under California Civil Code § 1689, I reserve the right to rescind any implied agreement based on mistake, misrepresentation, or lack of mutual assent. read more

I have not used you before... not sure but that seems like a typical response you put on reviews... I actually had another garage door company and fixed what you didn't and it was way less expensive and they did a fantastic job! I would be happy to give anybody the other garage door/gate company I had finish the job!!! Way better customer service, honest, and very reasonable pricing. Update again.... Anybody that continues to debate a customer is somebody I would never do business with... I would think that your time would want to go towards improving your company rather than argue/disagree with a customer that wasn't happy with your service. As a correction... I did give you an opportunity to right the wrong... that's when you came out with that ridiculous quote... You are correct. I refused to accept your calls after that... I contacted AM PM Door Inc actually by mistake thinking they were another company with a similar name. I was extremely frustrated with the service and utter disrespect our family was receiving from that company (not this one). After understanding that this was an entirely different company, I had the opportunity to explain my situation. Chad, the gentleman I spoke to was very friendly and attentive to the issues I was having. He actually made suggestions how I might resolve the problem I was having with the other company and offered his company's services in an effort to help in the best way he could. I wish I had found this service before giving our business to the other guys because the level of customer service, professionalism, responsiveness and concern are all top notch and tot different than the other guys. I need to speak up. Please read other reviews. This company is the absolute most unprofessional and unethical to deal with, and do inferior work for the rates they charge. After they made several attempts at repairs when a tenant hit the driveway gate, Kelvin the owner told me on the phone that he wished he had "never taken the call", I was "a pain in his ass", and made a derogatory comment about the "Israeli" at Xtra Care Garage who provided a second opinion when the gate repairs AM/PM made weren't completed to satisfaction. He mocked the equipment I had installed by another company and tried to upsell more that I do not need, claiming my gate is not up to code. AM/PM even sent another random invoice for several hundred dollars out of the blue about a month later, knowing I need to collect from the tenant, so he could collect every last dollar out of the job for work they should have completed properly in the previous paid visit. Just waiting to see the lies in his reply here. UPDATE: I see your response, thank you for delivering the lies I knew would be coming! I recently left a deposit with AM PM doors of $450.00. After waiting six weeks I called to check and see if the door had arrived. I was told it would be another two weeks. Two weeks later I called again and they said they received a door but it had the wrong fire rating and they would have to reorder it. At this point I told them to refund my deposit. They then said they would come out and do repairs on my old door to fix an area in which the laminated surface had separated. The gentleman that arrived spent about 15 minutes on the door and had me sign paper work indicating that he had performed some kind of service. After doing virtually nothing on the door they kept my $450.00 for this worthless service in which nothing was done. This company is nothing but a rip-off. Please be careful. I was referred to Kelvin who got on the phone with me immediately to give me advice and put me on the schedule for the same day. Have 30+ year old dual garage doors. One door was not properly rolling up/down. Previous door companies have told us we needed to replace both doors after making minimal adjustment attempts. AM/PM Door & Gate responded quickly and thoroughly adjusted all points of the door to ensure it rolled up/down to its proper levels. They also lubricated the doors to make them much quieter. After the work was completed, the technician requested to take a look at the other door for no additional charge. He made two adjustments and lubricated it as well. This company tops my list as the worst company I have ever worked with. (And I just built two high end recording studios... so I've worked with a lot of people.) We were having trouble with our gate in a tight alley, where there is not enough extra space for the gate to recognize and then reverse itself after a car driving through triggers the sensors. It has hit two vehicles so far. So our friends that own a high end storage facility in Hollywood highly recommended to call AM/PM Gates. AM/PM sent out a technician to do a routine maintenance check (which included checking chain slack and open/close adjustments) and take a look at our sensor situation. (And the cost was twice as much as the last three gate companies I have used averaged. And less work performed.) Cost aside, I was looking for knowledge and quality of service, not some cheap deal. AM/PM Gates looked like they could be that company. Instead, as of this morning I have tallied FOUR NO SHOW APPOINTMENTS. Not even a pre-warning phone call. No phone call, for days, and for weeks. And I was there, waiting for them every time. To back track a little, they recommended we install an Optex Sensor to help our issue, so I agreed to the quote and they came out to install it. (Not a cheap sensor like a laser beam reflector.) They were at my building for the whole day, at which point the technician said he couldn't make it work and would need to come back the next day. That was the first no show. And after two more no show appointments and FIVE WEEKS LATER, I called the owner Kelvin of AM/PM Gates to fire them from the job, but Kelvin himself made an appointment for this morning, and said he was going to come out and make things right. Then guess what... THE OWNER WAS A NO SHOW. No call. Nothing. And a little sprinkle on top of it all, they love to put a big AM/PM sticker on your gate, with no permission to do so. Before I even walked out to greet them on the very first appointment, before they had even done work on my gate for the first time, the technician claimed a sticker on my nice new gate. No permission asked. That's considered vandalism folks. And that sticker won't come off easy... cheers. read more

Our store got vandalized & looted on the 1st night of BLM protests. The thieves broke into our store because the old weak gate gave way, pulling it out of the drywall. AM/PM came out, & gave a reasonable estimate. The order took longer than expected because the manufacturer was flooded with gate orders from stores that had been looted. But soon we had our beautiful new, black strong scissors security gate! We only had 2 minor issues, but the warranty was honored and Felipe came out immediately. He was very polite, paid attention, analyzed it & fixed it. He was able to cut the piece of metal to make the gate work smoother, without having to dismantle anything! He also lubricated the wheels for me for free. He wore a mask, and helped me move the furniture. We feel much safer now... It was worth the wait & $$. read more
