I brought my 14-year-old daughter who has never had a cavity to Dr. Bale at Only Smiles for x-rays, a cleaning, and an evaluation. At the appointment, we were told she had six cavities. However, she did not refer to the x-rays to show them to us and did not explain what she was seeing, and no advice was given regarding her current oral care or how to prevent further issues. We were urged to make an appointment without being given a treatment plan or any details. The experience itself was uncomfortable, Dr. Bale had a curt bedside manner and my daughter reported that the exam and cleaning were painful, which added to our unease. When I emailed the next day requesting a breakdown of the proposed work and costs, I received only a list of tooth numbers with codes such as "MOLDB" and a total price of $3,184. After researching further and seeking second opinions, I learned my daughter did not have any cavities. Additionally, those codes represented extremely aggressive drilling plans (for example, MOLDB means drilling on all 5 sides of the tooth), which would have seriously compromised her healthy teeth and left them vulnerable to future problems. Even more concerning, when I called Dr. Bale to ask about the plan, she stated she could not remember our visit, had no clinical notes to justify her diagnosis, and told me I should "just trust her clinical judgment." When I explained that I simply wanted clarity, she said if I questioned her judgment I should find another dentist. Two days later, I received a certified letter stating she was withdrawing services altogether rather than honoring or explaining her original plan of care. I am a healthcare professional myself and understand the standards of patient care. While many reviewers mention a positive experience, I strongly encourage anyone considering treatment here to seek multiple opinions before agreeing to procedures. The office's COVID protocols seemed reassuring at first, but my experience made me feel that these policies were being used in a way that took advantage of patient trust and vulnerability. This experience was deeply troubling and thankfully were we able to avoid the unnecessary and harmful treatment that would have resulted in irreversible damage to my daughter's teeth. I am hoping this review will help to keep others from having to go through this experience.

Every visit felt welcoming--like catching up with friends--because the staff was always warm, accommodating, and incredibly professional. What really stood out to me was their exceptional level of customer service. They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable, informed, and cared for at every step. Even the smallest concerns were met with genuine attention and thoughtful solutions. The team in the front of office were extremely accommodating with my schedule. And I have to give a special shoutout to Dr. Galkin himself--not only is he clearly an expert in his field, but he's also just a pleasure to talk to. Our chats in between appointments made the experience even more enjoyable. It's rare to find such a perfect blend of professionalism and personal connection. If you're looking for an orthodontic team that truly cares, listens, and delivers excellent results with a smile, look no further. Dr. Galkin and his team are AMAZING. I couldn't be happier with my experience!

Great customer service EVERY time…read more I refer absolutely everyone I can to Galkin orthodontics. He is very knowledgeable, kind and guides you through the whole process. I got Invisalign through him and he has been more than helpful! I still have another year with the product. They are very understanding if you lose trays and other things like that. I have to give credit to the amazing staff and front desk too. They are so nice and accommodating and offer beverages and snacks. I never waited more than 5 minutes in the waiting room for my appointment. They send out emails to remind you of your appointments. Very clean place too. I recommend this place to anyone for their orthodontic needs

Today they tried to cancel my appointment for the second time. They market themselves as being fast but the reality is they get you in the door and the second you book you have to pay in full. Then they string you along for months canceling appointments knowing you're stuck with them because you paid in full. They say you'll be done in 3 months but I'm on month 4 and still am not even close to being done with this. This manager Dana is unprofessional and out of touch. I made my appoint a month ago after they canceled my last appointment and they decided to cancel me the day of about 3 hours before my appointment for the second time. Dana was horrible. She just kept telling me over and over that I can just come tomorrow it's nots a big deal. But if she wasn't so out of touch she'd realize I work for myself and canceled my entire day to be here and wanted me to miss out on an entire days work again because they're greedy. Insane! The dentists in this office deserve to be treated better they're people too not just money makers for this company. Imagine being a dentist and trying to keep up with a schedule? This place runs on greed and they need a new manager badly.

As a retired USPS employee, I subscribe to "Informed Delivery" from the post office which sends you an email with images of the mail you will receive daily. I keep these emails and there is no record of them mailing me a bill until 2/2022. It took them five months to prepare a corrected bill, they were trying to collect the difference between the insurance allowed charges and what they bill, which is ILLEGAL! Additionally, I agree with a previous poster who stated that their equipment is old and they make you come back for numerous unnecessary visits, just to increase your bill. I have had to have two root canals redone, suffered immense pain and had to miss work because of their incompetence. The endodontist that I went to, to have the two root canals retreated, said they were terrible root canals. They never matched the colors of my teeth correctly, one of my crowns is currently loose, and the dentist actually cut the inside of my mouth with the drill one time and tried to blame me. How could I possibly cut the inside of my cheek when my mouth was open? At no time was an apology offered for the billing "error"! Bottom line, I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.

I recently moved to New Jersey from Indiana. I'll admit that in Indiana, I had an AMAZING…read moredentist... But I had a HORRIBLE experience with this guy, and really this practice overall. To begin, I made an appointment in June. I THOUGHT it was for a teeth cleaning and general checkup, but when I got there I was told that they don't clean teeth on the first visit. According to them, some people's teeth are so bad that they need to be put under for their cleaning. I was upset about this, because it seemed it was something they should have mentioned when I MADE the new patient appointment. Time is valuable and I've never had a dentist that needed a "consult" for a teeth cleaning. It was annoying, but whatever... Yesterday I went in for my cleaning. I left in tears. My mouth was all torn up and I was livid. Basically I got there at 8:45 and was taken back to the room at 9:00 (my appointment time). I sat there and waited for 30 minutes. He finally came in. He seemed very rushed and didn't really introduce himself (His partner in the practice had done my initial exam, so I had never met him before). He began my cleaning. Usually I have an INCREDIBLY high tolerance for pain, and I hate complaining.... But this man was SOOOO rough when cleaning my teeth. I don't feel they were particularly problematic, as it has only been 7 months since I was last at the dentist... It was really just like he couldn't get done fast enough. Every other time he scraped, he seemed to take a chunk of my gum. At the end of the appointment, he had me rinse, and I spit out several mouthfuls of blood. In all the times I've ever been to the dentist (even when I hadn't been for 5 years between appointments) I've never had a cleaning that caused this much pain... and I've certainly never bled that much from a simple cleaning. I'm also concerned that he was not thorough because I was out of there less than 20 minutes after he started. I have my suspicions that he rushed through my appointment because I overheard he and his receptionist talking about how they were "booked solid" and there was a patient that wanted to come in for an emergency appointment. He told his receptionist to call her and have her come in, and he would fit her in somewhere. This guy was abrupt, unpleasant, and clearly too rushed to pay any attention to what he was doing. This is the kind of dentist that makes people AFRAID to go to the dentist. Stay away!
