I had the worst experience at this office. I went in on Dec. 26, 2023 to have my first visit for my son and myself. They did the regular routine of X-rays and cleaning. I was told by the nice female dentist that I needed an extraction of my right wisdom tooth. I was told to come back on Dec. 28, 2023, two days later to have my R. Wisdom tooth extracted. Only to be told that my R. Wisdom tooth can be saved by removing the decayed and filling the big whole that was in my R. Wisdom tooth. I'm not a medical professional so, I believed what I was told. It was a male dentist that worked on my tooth. He did an additional X-ray and he proceeded to put a filling in my R/W tooth. The female dentist that suggested an extraction was not in the office on the 28th and as stated I was seen by a male dentist ( mature in age male dentist) I can't remember his name . I had to come back to this office in March of 2024 because I started feeling discomfort in my Right Wisdom tooth again. The female dentist was there this particular day and she stated once again that my R. Wisdom tooth should have been extracted the day I came in on the 28th to initially have it extracted. Now... because this male dentist tempered with my R. Wisdom tooth by deciding he wanted to clean it and fill it. The female dentist then told me that I would need surgery because now the issue has spread down to the bone and I have to get a bone graft for this procedure and this office wants to charge me over $900. for this procedure. I was very very irate , disgusted, and extremely disappointed. I have been having slight discomfort ever since and it has gotten progressively worse...I called to speak to a supervisor or someone in charge on Thursday 1/23/2025 to see if they can rectify this issue because I SHOULD NOT have to pay for that male dentist negligence. I was told by a male receptionist to come in for an emergency evaluation but I work across town. I was told to call back Friday to schedule an emergency appointment for Monday 1/27/2025 . I called that office three (3) times and no one , I mean no one answered the phone. I left my name and number and no one called back to speak to me. I ended up on 1/25/2025 having to go to the emergency room because I now am experiencing severe pain in my Right lower jaw, pain behind my ear and pain in my head all on the side of where my Right Wisdom tooth was tempered with. This office does not want to take accountability for what they did to me. But... guess what!!? There is a GOD that sits on HIGH and looks down low. HE saw what you did to me!!! I've been coming here for a few years but today was my last straw as they wasted 4 hours of my time - I had different dentists saying different things about my teeth and procedures. Please save your time, money and energy by NOT using Eastern Dental of Woodbridge(orthodontist department). I was initial using Eastern Dental of Union when Dr. Segal(orthodontis) was there. He left Eastern Dental of Union after he put my daughter's braces on. Service in Union was horrible after his exit. I was told Woodbridge was better. Nope! My daughter got her braces off and I was given conflicting information from two workers AND the orthopedist as to what to do afterward. One worker had a horrible attitude and a nasty disposition. I took my daughter for her initial visit for braces. It was a wonderful visit from start to finish. The front desk is very kind and helpful! The doctor is knowledgeable and sweet. Early this year, I went into the Woodbridge office for a check-up and to inquire about braces. The orthodontist is only available once a week, so it was a journey to even start the process. Meanwhile, I was told that I needed a crown before I could start the orthodontic process. In March, they placed a crown in, which cost well over 1,000. In June, I received several trays of Invisalign braces costing me over $3,000. Each set is to be worn for two weeks. During the first week of my second tray, I noticed my crown was loose. I went into the office, where I saw a Dr. Fernandez I believe. An x-ray revealed that my crown had broken. Immediately, the doctor questioned why they would put in a crown knowing the Invisalign braces would shift my teeth. Obviously, the braces shift by teeth, thus displacing and breaking the - less than six month -crown. The first thing I did was question the cost. She told me that she would have to speak to the orthodontist, and someone would contact me. She also mentioned that I would need an implant, but not until I finished with my Invisalign. Dr. Fernandez also informed me of my options which included a temporary tooth. Approximately a week later, I was informed that the "discounted" cost of for the procedure needed prior to the implant would be $500, and the price for the implant would be over $3000. I had a fit! Discounted! It was their negligence that caused the crown to break in the first place. It is now September; my crown is still broken. I waisted the first two trays of my Invisalign, and the office refuses to even call me back. I have left several messages for the office manager and director. Consumer beware. read more

I called later that day since I was unable to get there and was told the only next available appointment won't be until the end of August. Over a year this will be since my last appointment. The staff at Eastern Dental is absolutely infuriating. As you can tell from the previous reviews, avoid this place AT ALL COSTS before you become another disgruntled patient of theirs like the rest of us. So, I took a day off from work to have my dental checkup. Despite scheduling this appointment weeks in advance, I still wound up waiting 3 hours before anyone saw me. The dentist proceeded to tell me that I needed multiple root canals and a deep cleaning (periodontal scaling?). When I consulted an outside dentist, they told me I didn't need any of those root canals (especially since I wasn't having any symptoms whatsoever) and that I was generally too young to be getting a deep cleaning. But here is where the story gets ridiculous... I asked for my dental records so I could keep them on file myself. I signed a disclosure form and they said they would email me the records the next day. I never received them. I called them every week for over a month and it was literally impossible to get a hold of any of them over the phone. Their answering system hangs up on the caller within a minute, often not even letting the caller leave a voice message. But over the month+ of calling them I was able to leave 4 voice messages. I got a hold of an actual human on the other line twice, and both times they said they would call me right back. Never did. Finally, one day I got a hold of a woman named Linda on the phone. She finally admitted to me that they had LOST MY X-rays. HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN????? I took a day off from work, they made me wait for hours, I paid for those X-rays, and now they lost them?! Fine...I begged for her to at least tell me what my records stated regarding what they found on the X-rays. What did the x-rays detail? What was the treatment plan? What were the dentists medical notes? She said none of that was written down....I asked to speak to the office manager. Linda said the manager was at a meeting and would call me back as soon as possible. To no ones surprise, I never got a phone call. Here is the bottom line: This is an establishment that does not give a damn about patients or patient care. They are simply there to churn out a profit, at the literal cost of the patient. Their inaccessible nature, and disrespect of their patients' time speaks volumes. Dealing with the staff is a nightmare and the dentists push unnecessary procedures. Furthermore, they clearly don't even understand how to protect patient health information or the importance of doing so. There are many other well-intentioned, patient-focused dental practices out there so for your own sake, do NOT go to Eastern Dental- Woodbridge. read more

I wanted to make an appointment for my son before going back to school. They took his information and placed me on hold. I kept holding even though it was taking a long time. When I hung up it had been over 21 minutes. I called back and said I need to make an appointment for my son and I was put on hold for 21 minutes. No apologies, just ok can i help you. I said yes. At the beginning everything went well. From calling in and scheduling my yearly dental appointment and no long wait times on the phone. On the date of the appointment I waited 17 minutes to be seen which I understand things happen. Then once I was called in X-rays were taken. I was taken to a chair located in an open area, there are no private rooms and waited 8 minutes to be seen by Dr. Fernandez. Dr. Fernández stated she reviewed my Xrays and everything was great except one issue which I believed I had taken care of a year ago with another dentist in Wayne,NJ which I advised her I did. She stated, she doesn't know but the issue is there. We proceeded with the cleaning. She advised me that I would have to schedule another appointment to get the issue taken care of. Once the cleaning was completed I proceeded to the front desk and scheduled another appointment with Jessica and asked if I could have a copy of my xrays which shows I still have these issues as per Dr. Fernandez. Jessica was patient and assisted me. I asked if my insurance would cover and she advised me of the $250 deductible. I was angry since I had paid $250 already the year prior for this so same issue which was no longer bothering me. I contacted my original dentist (advised him of the concerns) and he agreed to see me as soon as I could go into the office. The end result was my original dentist did another set of xrays and showed me the before and the after. I do not know if they are doing insurance fraud or what is their issue! Appointments for cleanings have to be made months in advance, they rarely answer the phone when you call (calling right when they open helps but not a guarantee). Even then you will wait about 90 to be called in. They will never spend more than 15 minutes per visit. Do not trust this place to get anything other than a filling. Very stingy on the Novocain, sloppy work (stuff like filling went too deep hitting the nerve, or the filling be too high you you cant bite down any more) My one cavity in 20 years was botched by them(the admitted to it), 3 visits to try to fix, by then the tooth was to damaged to do a root canal and the only option was to pull the tooth, so after 5 visits i refused to let them pull it. This might be anecdotal evidence but they did the same thing to by wife "the tooth cant be saved the only option is to pull." I had to pay out of pocket to go to a normal dentist (my insurance only lets me go to eastern dental) who had no problem finishing the root canal saving the tooth. read more

So the saga continued, yet, I just ended it! Last update for the corny crew at eastern dental. After a year-long battle of getting extensive dental work, I can't say that I have much to show for it. The final straw occurred last month. The first time I went in, for what I thought was for a long overdue root canal that was really bothering me. I was called to the back, and was asked: "when's the last time you were here? When was the last time you had X-rays?" Mind you, I was receiving their services on an ongoing basis for a year. Within that year, they managed to bill my insurance over and over again for multiple X-rays to see the same thing. Anyway, after I answered her questions, she told me that they were going to schedule me for a cleaning and another set of X-rays, but they couldn't do it that day. That day that I'd scheduled off to be there. You mean to tell me that I just wasted an entire day with nothing to show for, AGAIN??? Fast forward past the cleaning and X-rays, and we're at the most ridiculous part of my rant, the periodontist. So, the guy checked my X-rays and told me that I needed to have an extraction replaced by a dental implant on one of my molars that were chipped. I asked the guy to explore all options with me, and he said that there were two options since the tooth wasn't salvageable: an implant or a bridge. Me knowing my insurance coverage, I asked that he draft a treatment plan with both options in mind, so that I can figure out the affordability of my situation. I then proceeded to the billing department. This clown gave me an option of the dental implant, ONLY. She then lied and told me that it would take several weeks to get an estimate on a bridge. A bridge!! Seriously?? Mind you, a bridge is covered 100% by my insurance, which she could see from her insurance booklet, but her absolute refusal was baffling, and was my last straw. Til this day, I haven't received an estimate on that bridge, and it's been almost a month. Now I've moved on, and let me tell you, I couldn't have made a better decision. Let me tell you why. 1. Garden state dental thoroughly assessed my case. They found out that an extraction may be the prognosis, but that couldn't be determined by the X-ray, rather, exposing the tooth would be the best way to proceed. 2. I'm able to make multiple appointments at once. Not once a month, like eastern. I've had 3 successful appointments in the past 2 weeks. 3. They care. They take their time. They value yours. They respect you. If you're at eastern, GET OUT! All of the negative reviews aren't just stories. They're real life nightmares. Some people are locked in, but if you're not-GET OUT! read more

All three root canals done there ended up with infections at one of the root tips, requiring retreatment. Maybe it's because they don't employ an endodontist to do root canals, maybe bc it takes so many weeks between appointments to complete the root canal and get the permanent crown, maybe bc they don't use a Dental dam and microscope to ensure sterile conditions (like an endodontist would) and the best chance of a good outcome. One of the failed root canals was too late to save and now I need to have it extracted and replaced with an implant. (Yet the one root canal I had 24 years ago by an endodontist never has given me a single problem.) Additionally, no one in their office identified that my root canal had failed, though it was obvious to a dentist and an endodontist I consulted for a second opinion. Eastern's dentist and periodontist misdiagnosed the problem as a gum problem, so fortunately I sought that external second opinion. If you need oral surgery and prefer to go to an outside oral surgeon, forget that. They won't refer you out bc they have one on site and expect you to use him. If you have the healthiest teeth in the world and only need cleanings, maybe this place is ok. Otherwise, stay far away. read more

UPDATE: Dr. Robert Weinflash told me that I had 2 cavities, possibly needed a root canal, and that my gold crown had to be replaced. 3 months later I went to a different dentist, for x-rays and a check-up - the new dentist said I had no cavities and my existing dental work was in good condition! UNPROFESSIONAL, UNSYMPATHETIC, PETTY, TRASHY, UNEDUCATED FRONT DESK WORKERS AND OFFICE MANAGER EVERRRR. I have had it with this place! Numerous times I have been given an attitude for asking a question, and that's after me standing there for long periods of time for anyone to even look up at me. If it was busy I can understand bUt this happens almost every time, one of which no other patient was there and it was only me with 4 women behInd the desk just IGNORING me standing there and then for them to tell me my surgery was cancelled due to the computers being down. Ok that's all good, but no one called me. The lady actually had the nerve to tell me that this was also an inconvenience to them not just me!!!! I couldn't even believe she said that to me after I had to take off work just to be turned away with no one notifying me. But that's not even the worse part.....today, I come for my rescheduled oral surgery and 7 minutes before they tell me that my insurance isn't covering it and that I owe 631. I get right on the phone with my insurance company and they tell me I'm 100% covered and that they put in the wrong code. I walk back in and tell the lady and she insists I was wrong and that it's the right code I start getting aggravated because I think I know what procedure I'm getting done and what the description of the code is is NOT what I'm getting. Finally, she says she'll fix it but with an attitude that just left a bad taste as if she's mad that I caught her mistake. So, I continue to talk with this insurance man on the phone and I say thank you they will fix it they were wrong, as usual. AND THIS LADY VERONICA HAD THE NERVE TO SAY UNDER HER BREATH, "if you don't like it here then you can go somewhere else" I say "excuse me?" And she says it again I said (as if I needed to explain myself, I wish I didn't) I can't go somewhere else because.....she cuts me off and raises her tone with me and say "YES YOU CAN, YES YOU CAN" and I lose it, I said "are you seriously FUCKING yelling at me right now?" Then the office manager (Moron #2) and tells me to stop cursing as if she didn't hear her employee yelling at me and arguing with me about something that was none of her business in the first place. So I just shut my mouth because I was always taught you can't argue with idiots and I just knew at this point I was outnumbered with stupids. So I go down the hall to my ortho to tell her about the situation, I mean after all she referred me for the procedure. She seemed a bit confused and said she'd go and talk to them. Only thing that sucks is that I really love my ortho, Dr Hann and that department and I was scheduled to get my braces removed in 1 month. I'm assuming they Saw my review and I'm glad they did. Waited two hours in the waiting room filled with 15+ people for my regular cleaning and check up, which I had an appointment for. Eventually I got fed up and made an appointment with a different dentist office while I was in the office and was able to get seen within the same week. Receptionist did not even care to ask why I wanted to cancel my appointment while I was already there. Complain they are understaffed and broken computers, it's been like this for at least two years now. If you're so understaffed, don't schedule so many appointments on the same day maybe?? One women felt it was necessary to tell me to schedule appointments on my day off of work, why would a cleaning take an entire day of my time? Even giving them one star is considered being generous. They have no sense of punctuality and make you wait another 30-45 minutes before calling you in. What's the point of making an appointment then if they're never on time? The dentists and dentist assistants are very friendly and do a good job, but that's as far as it goes. My biggest issue with this place that made me decide that this is the last straw was when I was trying to get my wisdom teeth removed. First off, the people working at the front desk are rude and ignore you whenever you ask them a question. And most of the time they look and sound clueless. Second, it took them forever to even schedule me because they had a long waitlist and told me that they would call me when something opened up and if not, to give them a call after it has been three months. So I did exactly that and when I called, the girl on the phone was annoyed the I called?? Like are you serious lol. She then told me she'll call me and not to call her, so I gave her my mom's number to call. Another 3 months passed by and no call whatsoever or any update so my mom called them. The girl on the phone gave my mom an attitude and said that she called me and left voicemails, but I never picked up. My mom confronted her on her B.S. and said that she never called my mom and that I left my mom's number for her to call. She was caught in a lie and was flustered so she finally booked an appointment for us. What the heck? Did not know you had to be difficult to book an appointment here. She also said that the doctor can't take out all 4 wisdom teeth at once because the procedure would take too long and that he can only do one per visit. OK. **sidenotes: I went to another place and they took out all 4 our in less than half an hour, so this place is just spitting out lies like it's their specialty** It took me 8 months to even get an appointment in to get ONE wisdom teeth removed. I was the the said I need a root canal the first root canal was ok but second the dr was rush and went he push the crown inside he braked the root canal at the same moment I feel he did something wrong I feel the pain why because he used only the pink medication to sleep a little around the tooth so Veronica who worked the saw me crying she ask me I explain ,I know he did something wrong but he said pain is normal .COVID start around that time I was calling leaving a message but know call me I was taking pain medication until in June the open again .I refused to see the same doctor and the nice Dr her name Fernandes the only human with Veronica take care you like a person she did the X-rays she confirmed was broke. So she let me know she has to removed the root canal the crown everything and I has to used a cosmetic replacement holding from the crown I have for long time before and there are expensive cost . I spoke with her dr Fernandes I let her know. I was coming for a root canal he did a mistake and now I need to pay + all this pain all this months .So she go to speak with the manager and they tell me verbal no ,only you get responsable for the root canal so I continued going Dr Fernandes,she was take care me she did everything. My bill was around 600.00 now after 2 moths surprised they send me a bill for 3,000 and more . My sister had an emergency tooth issue and I made a reservation here and at first there was a slight insurance issues (Insurance Co caused) and it was a bit bumpy at first but Jessica (Front Desk Assistant) took the bull by it's horns and got everything done so my sister could be seen. It did take awhile and was frustrating but I could not have been happier with the assistance I received. Dr Wang was really sweet and explained every step that needs to happen and made sure we understood. The Financial Adviser was a wonderful woman who took the time to explain all the fees.
