'Caregivers' tell the client all their problems and their friends' problems. First caregiver had…read moreattention deficit disability and kept chattering instead of doing anything to help. Supervisor Naomi told me why she took her current job - said she got bored with being a CNA - and I hadn't even asked her anything about herself. Told me her grandson lives in Florida and she misses him very badly. I hadn't asked her anything about herself, and there would be no reason for me to. This was within 2 minutes of her sitting down in my home to supposedly have me sign a care plan.

0/5 Stars. DO NOT use this company if you value communication or if you actually need a caregiver…read moreservice. I have security footage of these caregivers coming and going past clear things a wheel chair bound person couldn't handle like a puddle of dog pee or poop and not say anything to anyone as they make their way out the door. The care givers have tried to bring their small children to work, had boyfriends sit in their vehicle outside the whole shift and other general addict type behavior like leaving front doors wide open after they leave or leaving the whole house dark with no lights on and curtains closed, but porch lights still on and mail still in the box. If you expect these people to act like normal human beings you're asking too much and will be met with passive aggressive talk-a-rounds endlessly. Admin Naomi Gibson has repeatedly ignored concerns about the issue of having admitted drug addicts (they will tell you themselves) as caretakers for an admitted drug addict client. Not only is this unprofessional but it is possibly extremely difficult and dangerous position to put people in, even more so after a loved one has repeatedly shown concern for the fact. Even after calling Naomi, being told I'd get a call back multiple times, I'd only hear back from her after including myself a call that was already happening between her and the client. My concerns over other issues only to be met with excuses like "well we cant make your wheelchair bound grandmother shower, and idk why no one is telling you or anyone else AFTER THREE WEEKS OF NO SHOWER that she is refusing to shower..." and only after you raise a stink about it or the fact these caregivers will just just sit on the phone and text unless told by the client to do otherwise, they will tell you they are just here for "Companion Care" even if their daily task sheet says otherwise and all other tasks are marked as "completed" when they leave....sounds like someone is playing the system to me....so if you got a too proud, stubborn old person who wont ask, nothing gets done and they are not concerned about the negative health risks at all. After trying to contact anyone who over sees the Admins, I was met over the phone by a man who didn't sound like he understood nor spoke much English who didn't seem to care or know what I was saying at all. In my opinion, they don't care how they make their money so long as they do and don't get sued and if you ain't the client, (no matter how senile the client may be or may not be) they could care less, as long as they get that medicaid/medicare/insurance money. this is why all the reviews by clients are negative but the ones by currently employed caregivers are not, I'm sure they love their job that requires them to do nothing and get paid. If raised with morals, these caregivers and people running this company should be ashamed of themselves. Just by basic human standers for how humans treat other humans.

After having experienced two grandparents in the general retirement area, and one of those grandparents later in memory care, I can say with confidence that the family chose well with Morning Star. Yes. There are always difficulties in communication, insurance, billing, and everything else that you might expect from dealing with any sort of business entity at all. This simply comes with the territory. But what makes me happy with how my grandparents lived out their time at Morning Star is the respect, dignity, and help that they got from a great staff. If my grandfather was feeling ill, the staff would bring soup to his room. If he needed help with medicine, there were services to assist in managing his pills. Finally when he died, the staff was helpful to the family in planning for my grandmother. In memory care, my grandmother was taken to every meal, she was brought to the daily activity session, and was never just left in her room to fade away. Her defiance was met with patience, and the staff always let us know about anything she might need (socks, pants, etc.) The last few years of someone's life is an uncomfortable topic. Death is an uncomfortable topic. But I'm so happy that Morning Star made my grandparents last days more bearable. If you have any questions about Morning Star from a family perspective please let me know!
