The classrooms are very small can hold up to six students. The BLS classes only cost $45, and the book cost $12. You need the book, but we didn't really use it that much. We mainly focused on the video, practiced on mannequins, and hands-on learning. I can easily say that this was the most ineffective, unprofessional course I have ever taken. The company lures students in with low prices and daily course offerings, but I would not recommend them to anyone. Upon arrival, a woman at the front desk placed me in a room, turned the 2ish hour PALS AHA video on, and walked away. She did not engage, practice, or discuss case studies with me whatsoever. Halfway through, she handed me the written test to be filled out while the video was still running. At the end, another employee conducted a short skills session with me. While she was kind and eager, as a non-medical professional she had very limited knowledge of the material beyond what she had memorized. The most disappointing and frustrating part of the day was the fact that despite a sign on the door (and a Texas State mandate) that masks are required in shared spaces indoors, neither employee was wearing a mask, and did not enforce the policy to a group of students in the lobby. When I requested that the employees wear a mask while conducting my practical exam, I was met with attitude and resistance. It was incredibly unprofessional, especially in an office/classroom dedicated evidence-based medical education.

They offer day and evening classes and seminars for adults over age 55. Offerings change each semester but usually include a variety of art classes, writing classes, needle crafts, music, and fitness as well as seminars in Galveston history, environment, and technology, just to name a few. They offer a monthly Reader's Group, a Gardening group, and instruction in various games such as modern board games, canasta and poker. I've taken Yoga, Tai Chi, memoir writing, and several craft classes. There is so much to do there and lots of fun people to do it with. The staff are very helpful in getting you registered and suggesting activities that you might enjoy. This spring, I'm taking a class in AI, a writing class, a cooking class, and S.A.I.L. (Stay Active and Independent for Life). I love it so much, I started volunteering there last year. As a newbie to Galveston Island, this place has helped me make friends and stay healthy and active. Highly Recommended!

I would like to strongly caution you against enrolling your child at this facility. We were…read moreprovided with zero feedback on our son's progress. After 2 months of my son being taught the same objectives, I got some results stating that he scored 6 questions better in math and 2 questions worse in reading than he did on his baseline test when he first enrolled. There was no explanation about why he scored the way he did and also no reassurance on a plan for his future objectives. That's when we decided to withdraw him. Tushar Kumar, the director, who was nowhere to be seen the entire 2 months while my son was enrolled, suddenly wanted to meet with us to convince us to stay. After several refusals, he finally relented. However, he stalled for several weeks before actually sending us a refund of the unused hours. Then when we finally got the check, he said he took out $250 as an early withdrawal fee. This fee is nowhere in the contract I signed so I consider that money stolen and I told him so. At that point, he demanded the check to be returned because he was insulted. I will be taking this business to small claims court. If you care about your child's learning, I urge you to take your child somewhere else. And Tushar, if you try to dispute this claim, I will update this post with a picture of the contract as well as all of our email communications over the last few weeks.
