I started running on pavement...didn't know anything different. Didn't realize that running on a track feels so much better on the knees and joints. Plus, it's way easier to do speed work on a track that's already all marked out. The only downsides: there's no water. You HAVE to bring your own hydration. Which really isn't that big of a deal. I mean, what runner doesn't have a camelbak, or a hydration belt, or at least a water bottle? The bigger thing is no bathrooms. I have seen the bathrooms at the track open exactly once, so unless they open them when school starts, do not count on there being anyplace to go! There have been days where there are groups using the track (school athletic groups, I think), so you just have to play nice and give them room. There really is plenty of room, you just have to be aware of what people are doing around you. I love this option to work on my speedwork; it feels better om my legs, plus there's bleachers if you want to incorporate some bleacher work into your running routine as well. Come on out on Tuesdays at 7 pm and see me and my running peeps! We will be there!!

This location is currently the bus barn, but it was formerly the old McAdams Jr. High which was…read morealso the home of the Sam Vitanza Stadium. Both have been moved to different locations, but the track is still available for locals to come get their daily walk, jog, or run on. I often bring my kids with me to walk, hangout or ride their bikes. Aside from going to parks and the gym, this is my favorite place to get my adrenaline going. This was my Jr. High from 1992-1993, and I graduated on this very field in 1998. Although many buildings have been torn down, I love to come here to reflect and relish the old memories.
