I am writing to express my frustration regarding a recently canceled appointment. The day before my…read moreappointment at 4;36PM, I received a text message stating my appointment was canceled because I am a patient of Dr. McDonald, not Dr. Lerman, and was instructed to call to reschedule. When I called back, the office was already closed. I have been a patient with this center for over 30yrs., and started my care with Dr. Sam Lerman. Due to all the changes of personnel being fired, leaving or retiring I was subsequently transferred to Dr. McDonald. I saw him 3xs and was not happy with his care. He kept me waiting for over an hour the last time I saw him. That's why on July 30th, I requested that my care be transferred back to Dr. Lerman. This was all confirmed and I received several annoying electronic and phone messages confirming my appt with Dr. Lerman prior to their cancellation on Aug 12. Communication with this office has been consistently difficult. While the website lists business hours from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, getting anyone to answer the phone during those times is nearly impossible, and their after-hours answering service center advised that the office does not open until 8:30 AM. Despite leaving countless phone and text messages I never got a call back. I finally reached someone at 9:30 AM, I was given conflicting excuses: first, that Dr. Lerman was overbooked, and then that my appointment was not scheduled for enough time. Ultimately, Dr. Lerman refused to see me, because he did not want to accept the transfer of care, even though Dr. McDonald works for him!! A total waste of my time. I eventually spoke in person with the new Office Manager, Christina, who apologized and acknowledged the severe handling errors. She admitted that their website information is inaccurate, promised to personally assist me in rescheduling with another doctor, and assured me she would call me back. I never received that follow-up call. Due to this pattern of poor communication and unprofessionalism, I am no longer a patient at this practice.

My friend, who is also a physician, replied negatively and basically he was told that he was wrong in coming back to the ER even though he was unable to breathe and his oxygen level had dropped significantly. A patient with pneumonia in both lungs and who has trouble breathing and who is getting no relief from a breathing machine at home should not be made to feel guilty by his PCP. in my opinion, it's egregious bedside manner and if my wife and I had been at the hospital this morning, we would have asked the doctor to leave the room because he was upsetting our dear friend.

In some cases this is great if you're sick, but can adversely affect the current appointments for that day For me, it's more important to find a doctor who will prescribe needed orders and medications than wait times. I've had nothing but nightmares dealing with this dept. The latest was a referral that they knew about for 4 months. First of all, I had to file a complaint with Humana because the Doctor and nurse refused to make an appt. with an eye doctor in Network of my choosing rather than their choosing. (that got resolved! )They actually told me I wasn't allowed to pick the in network (Bascom Palmer #1 for 24 years in eye care) doctors. Not True according to Humana Gold Plus, I am allowed to choose in Network Doctors. Back to the referral dept. I called at least three times to get the referral in motion. No response other than when speaking to Stacy she said it would be handled. I decided to give her a reminder on March 17 th since my appt. was on April 1 2026. Got nothing but attitude. Next phone call was from Bascom Palmer (March 25))asking if I could please call Mishkin's office as the referral was not there and they had gotten no response either. I then called and sorry to say I was furious and wanted to file a complaint with Dr, Mishkin. The lady who answered was cordial and took down the info. Today, the day before my appt. I had to go in and pick up the referral. NO Phone call to let me know what was happening as requested. Not their responsibility Stacy said. I will be looking for another Doctor as this experience has been repeated over and over with this dept. Unfortunately, the buck stops with the Doctor for not being on top of this on going problem!
