It's a pub, an old pub. A real pub not the faux pubs that have grown over years like 'Irish pubs' that when I walk in and say hello in Irish they look at me as if I'm bewildered and music blares so loud it's unpleasant.
It's an ale house with real ales. Just think REAL ale. And it has a selection of ales and beer flights. The extent of the food was crisps, nuts, pork scratchings.
It's cosy too and we sat on comfy chairs with our beers and wine on a wooden table by the log fire with icy winter outside. We were able to have easy conversation with friends and engage in banter with the friendly staff, without having to shout at each other or compete with loud piped music.
I do keep banging on in my reviews that these are the places we need to strongly support or we'll lose them and corporations will fill the space with chemically made beer and we'll be all the worse off. read more
