She went through our entire list and took care of everything. She was able to make suggestions to make transactions easier and she walked us through how to do things online between our accounts. Always an inconvenience, the ATM here is absolutely ridiculous. It constantly does things like accept money for a cash deposit and then suddenly cancel it mid transaction and push everything back out at you. That happened this morning and when I went in to make the deposit in person, I decided that I didn't want to wait in the line. A repeat scenario of other times that I tried to do anything quickly and easily at this bank. l thought banking with a credit union came with all kinds of benefits?! Genuinely frustrated. read more

I recently went in to pay my bill and the young lady (Lety) at the front provided with with not just great customer service with a smile (very important) but she saved me time and money. She offered me an absolutely free checking account with them solely because I already had an existing account with them. This credit union is a very poor banking institution. I have been a member of other credit unions for 30 years, and never had my ATM/Debit card "shut down" for reasons that defy logic or understanding. "Your charge is out of the area". Does anyone else travel? Does anyone order online from other US cities? "We sent you a card with new chip technology, so your old card was inactivated." Without notifying your members? I am changing my automatic deposits to another bank or credit union. I'm unclear as to whether this was picking someone for poor treatment and bad service, or just poor service in general. read more

Calling in to find out about opening an account, you'd think that I was reaching through the phone and ripping the Credit union rep's tongue out! She stumbled on her words, She seemed to speak only a bit of English, stuttered and actually that wasn't all. After being in the phone for 3 minutes, she asked me to please hold. What in the world is wrong with people who have jobs? Why are they deciding to provide crappy service to us customers? What gives? I'm very glad that I actually only go here for small transactions and not for my actual membership account. Very disappointing. And to add the cream on top? The Corporate office had a HR woman answer the main number (951) 571-5349 and then when she transferred me to a member representative, after 4 minutes, the next rep gave me the run around. I have had multiple accounts with Altura for over twenty years. The last year has been one problem after another. Refinance, car loan and now my bank accounts. "Somehow" I am no longer enrolled in overdraft protection. I transferred money from savings to checking using the app which showed in my transaction history, apparently it failed....7 charges of a $29 courtesy fee paid out which caused even more money to be overdrawn. After a phone call they are only able to reverse 3 of the 7 fees charged. I will be doing business elsewhere. read more

Compared to how you get treated at most banks and credit unions today, I have to rate Altura Credit Union Indio, CA as a 5 STAR Excellent financial services company for its size!!! I've never given that type of rating ever but feel they deserve it. Why? On 11-27-17, my wife and I showed up a few minutes before they closed for the evening to process a special trust that we had to add to our loan application. A Financial Services Officer named Jessica Avena greeted us with a huge smile and warm invitation, invited us to meet with her in her office. After she reviewed our needs she told us in clear terms what was necessary to complete the process. We had to return the next evening after we got our documents in order for the loan to be processed. After greeting us once more with her pleasant demeanor, she helped us complete the final steps to get our trust added to our loan application and get the loan processed. Jessica was awesome, she's extremely knowledgeable, nice, friendly and very willing to help us. No games! She processed the paperwork seamlessly and in just a few minutes sent us on our way. We couldn't have ask to be treated any better, treating us the way people want to be treated. She has a very nice demeanor and work ethic about herself and made my wife and I feel good about doing business with Altura. Stay away from this organization--certainly do not use their loan programs. Took out a small loan with them, fixed rate and simple loan. They have not only applied extra payments to interest when it was supposed to be principle, but also, unbeknownst to me, charged me for insurance that I had provided proof of already having. Slipped it right into the principle and if I hadn't asked for a printout of all loan activity for the year, would not have seen it. Won't go into all details, but was obviously a scam and am trying to rectify, but struggle to get calls back. Any company that refuses to give employee last names and direct numbers tells you something. read more

Marina found us the best deal, rate and trade in during our car shopping experience. We visited over 5 dealerships online and in person, which left us with the usual car buying excuses not the vehicle we want, an outrageous payment or crazy a rate. We called Marina let her know what we were looking for and she called us the next day with everything we asked for and more. We arranged a pick up time for our vehicle and that was it. With 5 people ahead of me I waited over an hour for the ONE customer service person to ask to talk to someone about a house loan. When she finally acknowledged me I found out the rep wasn't in. She took my name and email and said the rep would email me in a couple of days. "He/she is very good about that." I'm still waiting. That's been about a month now. People there are nice, but the organization itself is awful. They are a credit union in name only--fees all over the place, terrible rates, bare bones staffing....the lines at Disneyland move faster. It is clear the management views members not as the joint owners but as customers who are looking to provide profit. FYI...a credit union is intended to serve its members not its management. While "credit union" is in their name, they are not one in actual practice. They do put the increasing fees to good use. I use this bank because it is a sister bank to my credit union at home but they are incredibly slow!!!!!! Good grief!!!!

Although this location is ideal, and I consider myself to be an excellent client (rarely call, mostly just use the ATM and I am never overdrawn). On the few occasions when I do need to handle a transaction inside, it is like a bad dental experience. The tellers consistently make things the most difficult they can for you. One time I had to sign 5 documents to make a CASH DEPOSIT. Completely frustrating. Even a simple transaction turns into an ordeal with the tellers. Month after month I consider closing my account. However the reason that I remain loyal is due to the manager Jessica. She truly is the only reason that I continue to bank there. She is personable, professional, helpful, and always remembers my name. She is just wonderful. Jessica is an example of what a banking representative should be like.
