I love Ken and Company!…read more I've known about them for years (I used to live in the area), but my first cut with them was in February of 2014. My hair was down to my butt, and I was ready to donate it! Despite that, I was so nervous, as I hadn't had short hair in forever, and I was nervous that I would hate the outcome. Their booking process is easy. You can either call or do it online (which is the easiest option for me). You'll make an account and your past appointments will be there, all of the stylist's available times will be there, etc.. When I first came in, I booked my appointment with Amanda, who charges the usual $50 per cut. I told her my reason for coming, how much I wanted to donate (ended up being 16 inches), and what I wanted the style to look like. I was going for a short bob (around my jawline when curled). She did an amazing job! She stood with what I asked for and didn't "make it her own" as some stylists do. I haven't cut my hair that short since then, but that's because I've come to appreciate my long bob a lot more! Ever since then, I don't cut my hair anywhere else! I've been sticking to Amanda as my stylist, but there was one time where I was in desperate need of a cut and I took an appointment with Jenny. She too was great! What I love about this salon is that the service is great from start to finish. As soon as you walk in through the door, you're greeted. The ladies at the desk know me by name. While you wait to start your wash, they'll bring you a drink (water, tea, coffee, wine). They'll also hang up your jacket, if you want. The salon itself is nicely laid out and never gets overly crowded. You can opt for the head massage at the chair or during your wash. It's so calming, and I suggest doing it on a dry scalp. The smell is soothing and it's definitely a nice added touch. The ladies who have washed my hair have all been friendly and attentive. They start conversations, comment on how thick my hair is, and really thoroughly wash through any gunk. After that, you're taken to a styling chair and greeted by your stylist. It's all magic from there! One suggestion, speak up for yourself! If you're not satisfied, let them know! Let them know what you want from the beginning. Don't expect the outcome to look exactly like the photo but try and be descriptive as possible. One thing I really dislike is how much product they put on my hair after it. I hate putting stuff other than shampoo and conditioner in my hair, so after the first two cuts, I asked them not to add anything! They really insist, but I ask them not to. The products themselves are great, but I have to wash my hair the next morning because the products make it so greasy. Parking is easy to find. There's street parking and a lot. The bathrooms are always clean! The salon is always organized and the people (both customers and staff) are friendly.

I made an appointment for a simple trim and was booked with Chris. No one told me he was new or…read moreasked if I was okay with that. During the cut, I had to ask if my hair was even, and he never showed me the sides or the back. He clearly didn't know what he was doing -- he couldn't even style it before I left. When I got home and saw it in the light, I was horrified. My hair was uneven, chopped up, and I even had bald spots. I went back hoping they'd fix it, and another stylist did what they could, but I walked out with basically a G.I. Jane haircut. Here's the worst part -- Chris never apologized. He was "too embarrassed" to say sorry, but apparently not embarrassed enough to give me the finger. The salon didn't offer a refund or any kind of compensation, just said they wouldn't charge me for fixing the damage their stylist caused in the first place. Hair grows back, sure -- but respect and trust don't. This whole experience was completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

Turn and run! I will be paying for my decision to trust Chrissy at this salon for YEARS to come. I…read morehad long silky hair that was very healthy, just yesterday. Today I have chemically burned, broken hair that is so dry that it looks and feels like HAY. If I don't immediately get to someone who knows how to treat this kind of damage, I will have NO hair within a few weeks, and I am not exaggerating in the slightest. It breaks if I touch it and there are pieces of broken hair all over my blouse as I write this, along with a lot of tears. Yesterday I went to Salon Evol and was exceptionally clear about what I was looking for. I asked if it was possible to get a body wave or perm so that I could end up with large, wide, bouncy curls, because my hair took a long time to blow out and was frizzy if I let it dry on its own. My schedule is getting busier and I needed something easier and faster. I said I hated "beach hair" and didn't want a messy look; I wanted defined, large curls and to be able to wash my hair and not style it but still have it look nice. Chrissy told me she could do that and that the only thing I might need to do is use a curling iron on some pieces around my face. Then she did the process. When she was finished, my hair resembled a messy FRENCH POODLE. It was skinny, wormy strands of incredibly messy hair and would have been a bad look even for the 80's. There were no real curls at all, just mess, and certainly nothing any person would say looked like a defined curl. I was in shock. I went home and tried to wash it out. Not possible. I ended up going back there today - because I apparently needed more proof that I couldn't trust this person. I feel like an idiot and all I can think of is "Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice, shame on me." Chrissy told me that my hair would be in great condition if she reversed the process. I let her do the reverse process. And now? My hair is so brittle that just running a brush through it is impossible. The brush fills up with broken, brittle balls of hair with even the lightest stroke. I will now have to find someone who actually knows what they're doing and can treat horribly chemically damaged hair. It will be YEARS before all this damaged hair grows out. I have never been to any hairdresser worse than this woman. I will be paying for years for my mistake and for her ignorance. All she had to do was tell me that what I wanted wasn't possible and I would have thanked her and left. Instead? She decided that she'd rather take my money and ruin my hair than have an empty chair until her next scheduled appointment. I'm an international performer and this will adversely affect my career. I don't want even my husband or close friends to see me like this. My reason for going to get a process in the first place was that my hair took too long to style. NOW?? I will be spending SO MUCH MORE time doing deep conditioning treatments, going to real professionals for their treatments, changing my whole routine and regimen for months and years to come. Why do women do things like this to other women? Is it jealousy? Ignorance? Just for fun? All I can say is NEVER go to Salon Evol and I hope this woman retires or has her license taken away. See before and after photos below. I won't even post one of how it looks after reversing the tight perm she gave me.

I ended up calling them to ask someone to fix it but they said they would put me on to the same girl, which didnt make any sense to me because if she didnt know how to do it why would she know how to fix it? When I arrived he was ready to go and first asked me what I was looking to have done and what style I wanted. I'll be honest that I have not had a haircut in pretty close to a year so I knew I'd need a big trim but I was a bit anxious as stylists seem to cut off more than I anticipate. Larry was AMAZING and showed me exactly how much I'd need off and he blew out my hair beautifully!
