My cat, Lily, has feline leukemia, which can be deadly to cats. If it progresses, it will kill her via lymphoma or bone-marrow cancer. She was diagnosed last March. This was done by my traditional western DVM vet, who is wonderful, but I wanted a better treatment option than "wait and see," which is what western medicine says to do for feline leukemia. In June, she tested negative, so I thought she was free from it, because that's what my vet said.
Dr. Trisha Ballard of the Alternative Veterinary Hospital, however, gave me the true story: She explained that even though Lily tested negative in June, she still carries feline leukemia virus in her bone marrow. To keep it from taking over her body and killing her, Dr. Ballard is working with two Chinese herbs to keep Lily's immune system strong and to balance her chi so that the virus has no chance to kill her. Chinese herbs help strengthen the chi in the body to fight off disease. Lily had an imbalance of her gallbladder chi, which was creating more damp in her body, which was in turn throwing her immune system out of balance, which explains why she got the virus in the first place (she was primarily an outdoor cat for many years and so got the virus from a stray cat during that time). So Dr. Ballard's goal is to keep down the damp energy, balance the gallbladder chi, and strengthen her immune system. She's using two Chinese herbs for this. And she has explained about how pets are susceptible to seasonal differences in temperatures and weather, which is why Lily is eating a "warming" (energetically warming) food during the winter (chicken) and a cooling food during the summer (turkey) and avoiding any grains. All of this, plus much love and attention, helps keep Lily's immune system strong, keeps her as healthy as possible, and gives her a much better chance of truly living with the virus, living a happy, healthy life. Dr. Ballard feels Lily has a great chance to live a long life.
All of this I could not have gotten from my other vet. You owe it to yourself to schedule a consultation for your pet. I am so grateful to have found Dr. Ballard and to be able to give Lily a fighting chance for optimal health and happiness! read more
