After Dr. Binford retired I went to another vet I had seen once when Binford was on vacation. He did literally nothing except take 2 unnecessary xrays (told him he had asthma and brought xrays taken just a couple months earlier) and prescribed what Dr. Binford had been giving him for over a year. Then he charged me twice what Rosemead did and 4x more for 15 pills. I went back to Rosemead and found the new vet totally competent. He was tortured with bi-hourly blood draws, insulin injections and diet he hated, for 6 weeks until I could get him to a specialist who determined he never had diabetes, but had been left on Prednisolone too long, which caused symptoms. So, erring on the side of diagnosing a lesser ailment until fully sure, rather than nearly killing him with harsh treatments he didn't need would have been better. We have been taking our pets to Rosemeade Vet, Dr.Bindord for over 40 years, he and the staff have always been amazing. We were concerned when Dr. Binford retired a few months back, however we have 4 dogs and have seen the new Veterinarian several times. He very knowledgeable and extremely kind and we have been very pleased with the care he has provided to our dogs. He has the same amazing support staff that Dr. Binford had and has add some new staff that are also just as amazing. read more

We have had nothing but wonderful experiences with this office. We have had five dogs, two of which were senior rescues, that Dr Binford and now Dr Atchey have helped us with. While we wish that we didn't necessarily need to go to the vet as often as we do, we're very happy that this is the veterinary office that works us through our various pet related anxieties. Tori at the front desk and Robert the tech have helped us consistently for years, and are a constant calming resource for all of us. Thank you again for all yall do. read more

During a very difficult time Dr. Carl Binford showed incredible compassion, honesty and professionalism for GiGi. He was extremely gentle, patient, and took the time to make sure my dog was comfortable while also supporting me through an emotional situation. His gentle and trusting kindness meant so much. Dr. Binford is a great, old-school vet. He owns his own clinic, knows the animals and works closely with his staff to give the animals (and their owners) personal attention. He gives the kind of care that I'm afraid we're losing with veterinary practices being bought by large corporations. read more

They are the best! Been taking my fur babies there since 1980. Dr. Binford and staff are great and very caring.

During covid quarantine I noticed my dog was having issues when trying to relieve himself so I took him to Dr. Binford. His staff came to collect my dog while I waited in the car. Dr. Binford came outside a little while later to speak with me about my dogs condition and what procedure would be done. I had a lot of in depth questions, so Dr. Binford went inside and retrieved a medical textbook. He took the time to teach me about the issue, showing me the figures to further my understanding. It was refreshing. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Rosemeade Vet. Clinic! The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring about their patients. It feels like a second home for my pup. A special shoutout to Terry, who is amazing. Her dedication and compassion are unmatched. She made my puppy feel so comfortable and loved. Dr. Binford is also phenomenal. His expertise and thoroughness are refreshing. Unlike other vets who seemed quick to prescribe medication, Dr. Binford focuses on finding the root of the problem. He's patient, and knowledgeable, and never makes me feel judged. I've been trying to get an appointment with Dr. Binford for months due to high demand, which speaks volumes about his reputation. I'm so grateful we finally got in! This is the best veterinary care I've found. read more

Dr Binford and his staff are all top notch. We've taken our dogs here for the last 8 years. Dr Binford is a great listener, does only what he thinks is right for each animal, doesn't charge for anything unnecessary, and is very understanding. Dr. Binford's office is the best! I've been taking Shadow to him for well over 9 years and he is always treated with the utmost care and concern. Everyone is super friendly from the receptionists to the techs. We are greeted by name most, if not all, of the time. I feel the pricing is fair and he does not recommend unnecessary tests or procedures. Now that my little guy has some years on him, I've been having to stop in more often. I like that Dr. Binford takes the time to go over each diagnosis thoroughly and explains treatment options without being pushy. This is the reason I keep coming back even though I've lived all over the metroplex and had to drive upwards of 45 minutes. I also want to add that I waited way too long to write this review. I loved them from the beginning! read more

Rosemeade Veterinary Clinic - Happy as can be after his exam! - Veterinarians Near Me - Carrollton, Texas

We had taken our dog to many Veterinarians and even took him to a dermatologist for his skin issues. The dermatologist told us he had some form of environmental allergy and we began treating Him with allergy medication but there was no improvement. Dr. Binford took a good history of the skin itching issue our dog had been having, he said he wanted to rule out demodex before providing us with steroids to stop the itching. Dr. Binford then took a sample of the hot spot areas that affected my dog and looked at them under a microscope, finding the demodex mange. This had been the cause of my dog's pain and suffering all along and no Vet cared enough to actually take a sample of the affected area before prescribing many a lucrative procedure/medication. Dr. Binford and staff also took steps to ensure that when you leave their office you have a firm understanding of what your job is to get your pet ship shape. He also only recommends procedures if they are absolutely necessary for your pet. Dr. Binford was reluctant to prescribe us procedures unless absolutely necessary. TLDR: Our pet had been misdiagnosed and Dr. Binford correctly Diagnosed him within 10 minutes of our first visit; Dr. Binford is an honest veterinarian and the only one we will be going to in the future. -Demetri read more

I really wanted to like Rosemeade, and in a lot of ways I did. I can confidently say that their vet assistant and front desk team consists of some of the most wonderful, caring individuals I have worked with since getting our puppy. They were always so sweet to our Albert and never failed to squeeze us in last minute or offer advice during all of my frantic morning calls when he ate something he shouldn't have. So this being addressed, It breaks my heart to have to write this but I cannot confidently take my puppy back to Rosemeade. A little over a month ago our puppy began obsessively chewing at his groin to the point of injury. We took him to Rosemeade where they diagnosed him with a hot spot. They gave him a steroid shot and ointment for his injury and we were told he would be better in a week. The following week he was healed and we took off his e-collar just for him to attack his groin again. We took him back to Rosemeade where they administered a stronger steroid shot and said he would be better in a week. A week later the same situation took place where he went straight for his groin again after he was healed and made himself bleed. Our third visit we spoke to Dr. Binford, who basically said he had never seen a case like this, told us point blank that our puppy likely had OCD and mainly left it at that. No further advice. No behavioralist or training referral. Basically we were told the solution was to keep our 13 week old dog in an e-collar until further notice and hope he grew out of his habit. My husband and I were skeptical of this diagnosis as he is so young and was only irritated in one spot. We scheduled an appointment with another vet for a second opinion. My husband reached out to Rosemeade to request our puppy's records and we provided what they sent to the new vet. We visited with the new doctor who at first recommended steroids. I told the new doctor I was concerned over that as our puppy had already had two shots of steroids at such a young age. He was shocked to hear this, as the records Rosemeade provided did not include any documentation of the steroid shots they administered. The new vet told us he was extremely skeptical that it was OCD as well. Instead, he believed because his skin was abnormally thick around his groin our puppy had a UTI or infection that hadn't healed properly and it was still irritating him. He prescribed us an antibiotic for his infection and gave us a timeline of when we could expect results. But the key differentiator was that he had amazing bedside manner and provided next steps. If the antibiotics didn't work, we would try an allergy medication. If the allergy medication didn't work, we would try to change his diet. If the diet didn't work, we would biopsy his groin to ensure there wasn't cancer or any abnormality. And LASTLY if those results came out negative, we could call it OCD and in that case he had a list of behavioralists he recommended to ensure Albert wouldn't have to live the rest of his adolescence in an e-collar. Our puppy is our life, and we really expect the best for him. As much as I truly know and believe the staff of Rosemeade love Albert deeply, this experience showed to me that the care, bedside manner, organization, and diagnostics for him was not up to par. The quick OCD diagnosis without any next steps or solutions felt lazy and disheartening and caused distress for my husband and I. Even just days after treatment our puppy is already showing alleviated symptoms from his antibiotics so it is looking like it was actually an infection, something I would have expected any basic vet to be able to diagnose before jumping to such an extreme as OCD. Because of this we can not justify taking our puppy back to Rosemeade and I cannot confidently recommend their services or trusting Dr. Binford's opinions. read more

After bringing my doggies in (one husky and one all black border collie) and now know why this is such a highly rated clinic. (1) The staff is friendly and they obviously have a passion for animals. (a) I came in slightly late because of the rain and they said nothing and just showed me to the room. (b) one of the staff gave my dogs a treat while I was paying the bill. (2) The vet is super knowledgable and listens to your concerns and does not try to up sell you. Definitely will be getting my doggy health care from here and now on. read more

Let me start by saying the Receptionist was polite, helpful and empathetic. My review is off one experience and I will not be back to this practice. Unless the veterinarian is changed. In my experience the doctor was cold and uncaring. We contacted this office because of an ill family pet. This was a beloved family pet of 18 years. He was dying and after 3 days at home, rapidly deteriorating health, I had to make the decision to have him put to sleep. Our vet was out of town and would not be back for days. I couldn't let the suffering continue. Our beloved pet was wrapped in a blanket and he was lying as comfortable as I could get him in a flat open box. I carried him inside the office and we were greeted by the one friendly person who scheduled our appointment. We were then immediately sent to an exam room. Once in the room the appointment lady came in to collect the payment and as soon as that was done I felt completely rushed and the vet and his assistant started to yank on the blanket and tried to pull my pet out of the box with, in my opinion, too much force and roughness. With the needle in the vets hand they were yanking on the blanket and had no care or gentleness to their touch. I had to raise my voice and ask that they stop and let me do it. I'm there with my 18yr old frail dying pet and having to deal with not so kind doctor and assistant who I have to trust to inject him. I felt like this appointment was an inconvenience to them. The vet proceeds to insert the needle and after a minute or so he looks at me and says "he's dead". Who says that? How about he's at peace, or he's no longer with us. Something anything, but to look at me and say he's dead. That was cold and heartless. I realize we were not a "regular" patient and this was the first (and last) we were in his office but have some compassion. I will never go back to this place and I feel sick every time I drive by that place and see his name over the door. I also did NOT leave my pet at this office. I kept him with me and drove him straight to the pet cemetery myself. I couldn't stand even thinking about leaving him in that office with the vet and the assistant any longer. I understand a situation like this is a very emotional time and it's the hardest decision I ever had to make which is the reason I waited a long time to write this review. I wanted to be clear headed and not full of the anger, shock and sadness that consumed me from the events of that terrible day. Unfortunately I'm still haunted by every detail and lack of caring, like it happened yesterday. For any one who has to make this terrible decision, please don't choose this office, I don't feel this vet is a caring person which is a real shame. read more

When I moved to Texas my friend recommended me to Dr Binford. The place is always clean and it seems to choose the staff by their love to animals, they are all very and helpful. I'm with Dr Binford for more then 7 years and even when I moved and had to drive 40 min to him I still went there. The prices are fair (even after they recently raised it)But the main thing I believe is that its Dr Binford himself taking care of your dog (with his more then 30 years experience) and not a stagger. Dr. Binford and his staff have cared for our furry family members, 2 cats and 4 dogs for over 25 years. They all have been in good hands. And not just good hands, but loving, caring, skilled hands. Dr. Binford has demonstrated the sometimes difficult balance between professional matter of fact, roll up your sleeves and let's figure out the problem demeanor to sincere compassion when the diagnosis is grave. I have seen the staff show the same kind of compassion and shed tears with you when it's time to say goodbye. We will continue to bring our future furry family members to Rosemeade Veterinary Clinic. My dog has never needed a muzzle to go to the vet until we came here. Keep in mind, she's 6 so she's been to the vet many times. HORRIBLE with nervous dogs. First a recommendation. Read this blog entry regarding euthanasia. It suggests that only the most cold-hearted veterinarians that lack compassion use a single injection method to euthanize animals. All others use at least a two injection process, first inducing deep anesthesia and slumber in the pet. http://www.petmd.com/blogs/dailyvet/2009/october/21-4845 I just read a similar 1-star post from earlier this month. Unfortunately, I went to see this vet today, and would not have had I seen this post. I was in the same position as the other poster, Sarah P. when I went to this vet for the first time in 2014 when I had a cat that had some neurological issues and was almost fully paralyzed. The vet agreed that putting the cat to sleep was the right decision. I had done this with another cat about 12 years prior at different clinic. At that time, the process involved two injections. The first injection caused the cat to go to sleep. After that, the second injection stopped its heart. That process seemed about as humane as our current lethal injection process. When I saw this vet with my distressed cat last year, like the other reviewer, I was barely in a position to make decisions as the whole event is highly traumatic. However, it was the humane decision. Yet, what this cold-hearted vet did was a single injection to stop the heart, and my cat died looking at me with its eyes wide open. This image has haunted me now for more than a year. I always wanted to question the vet about this and went back to them today with the sister of the other cat. She is 14 1/2 and very sweet. However, she's dropped some weight despite eating quite a bit, so my thought was hyperthyroidism...something I experienced with a previous cat. I called to make an appointment and asked what the thyroid blood test would run. I was told about $70. I showed up with my cat today and was told, "What you really want is a senior cat physical." I was not told how much this is, but since we were already doing blood work, how much more could it be? ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY DOLLARS MORE!!! Total bill for three basic blood tests, and for the vet to paw at my cat was $236. What a racket. I formerly took my pets to the Animal Clinic of Farmers Branch which was easily half the price. However, after having my fill of rude front office staff and veterinarians that led me to believe you get what you pay for, I decided my pets were worth more than finding the best vet bargain. So, back to today with RVC. The vet did not seem to think I, a pet owner, knew squat about caring for pets. His conversations with me were incredibly patronizing. I could handle that if the care was good. However, the care was awful. They needed to take blood, and decided they needed to go to the back to take my 9lb cat's blood. Interestingly, they invited my back. (I bet they don't make that same decision again.) The vet shaved my cat's neck, grabbed a syringe, and proceeded to bend the heck out of it without getting into the vein. It was as if he was hitting bone or it was a dull needle. He kept trying, causing my cat significant discomfort. I asked, "What's going on?" He dismissed me and proceeded to grab another needle. He got that one into her skin easily. However, he tried and tried and tried for 60-90 seconds, with the needle in her neck, pointed up towards her chin, and never really got the vein. He got another needle, shaved the other side of her neck, and got the blood on the first try over there. Seeing my tiny, sweet cat in such discomfort broke my heart. I asked if going through the neck was the best way to get their blood? He said, patronizingly, "How else would you do it?" I said I thought that every vet I'd seen take blood did it through the leg. He said, again very patronizingly, "I don't know where you saw blood being taken from a cat, but taking it from the neck is far and away the quickest." I validated this to be true online, but it wasn't what I had seen previously, and if this cold, rude, incompetent vet had gotten the blood in the first or second try, instead of the 8th or 9th, I would not have had an issue. They even brought out a leather muzzle. They didn't use it, but I would wager they don't clean that thing. It's leather, how can you disinfect that? Back to the question of euthanizing, I asked the vet before I left about what happened with my Buddy. I said I had put a cat down years prior, they used two injections, and it passed with its eyes closed. This pompous, arrogant individual said that it doesn't matter if they use one or two shots, that in neither scenario will the pet's eyes close. This is where I say the guy thinks we're all idiots. Is he saying I forgot that detail of one of those few life moments that I remember very clearly? There are MANY other highly rated vets in Carrollton. Save yourself and your fur baby the anguish and use one of them. read more

We love this vet. He is very knowledgeable and doesn't do unnecessary tests. Many of the other vets we have gone to have come up with test after test causing bills to go so high. This vet does what is necessary but treats the animal. Our one dog had persistent ear infections and we were going to our old vet every 5 weeks costing $150 per visit. This vet treated the ear infection and instead of going constantly - we now only go 1-2 times a year. read more

We've been going to see Dr Binford at this clinic for something like eight years now. We were so lucky to find this place. The support team is wonderful. They come across as people who love their jobs because they really care about our pets. All of them are friendly and efficient. Dr Binford is a rare find. A very experienced Dr overflowing with common sense and compassion who only cares about what's best for your pet, not how much money he can wring out of you. Here's an example: at our previous vet in Plano, we took our Cocker Spaniel (Rocky) in for a checkup because he had an ear infection. The Doctor wanted to run tests (about $300) to confirm that. When we decided to try Dr Binford, he lifted up Rocky's ear, took a sniff, and said "yeast infection". We treated it and it all worked out fine. We've had that kind of help with Rocky for years now. We also had a very old cat (Daisy). Daisy was indoor-only so not many trips to the vet required. Last week she reached the end of her line (18 yrs) and just started shutting down. We took her to the Rosemeade team and as expected, the experience was like family. They helped us understand what was going on and made the process as easy as something like that can be. Again, it was all about care of Daisy and support for us, not a business opportunity for them. I highly recommend Rosemeade Veterinary Clinic, Dr Binford, and the team. If you'd like more feedback, feel free to reach out to me. read more

Previous vets have treated me as if every time I showed up, I needed to make their car payment! (Mercedes, apparently) After many, many tries, I found Dr. Binford on Angie's List. What a jewel! When I was losing a young Greyhound to incurable cancer, I was beyond distraught, The clinic could have maxed my credit cards and totally taken advantage of me, but they didn't. Dr. Binford kept my sweet baby comfortable until the end and was more than fair with the costs. Even on a limited budget, I will not shop shots, heartworm meds, etc. Because when it really mattered... they were there and fair.. Dr Carl Binford and his staff are hands down the most skilled, professional, compassionate group. They have taken care of us and our dogs for more than 20 years. Dr Binford is very knowledgeable and doesn't beat about the bush. He gives excellent care and is very thorough. Recently, our 10 year old Shih Tzu took ill acutely and i was able to bring him in that morning. Dr B quickly assessed the situation and immediately instituted the very best urgent/emergent care. Unfortunately, all his efforts were unsuccessful, and later that day it was obvious to him and us that Ling was not going to make it. He was very compassionate and explained in detail all he had done, all the test results, and together we decided it was best to put our baby down. We are grateful that our Ling did not suffer. All his staff as well as he, were very sympathetic and offered there support in our time of sorrow. We are forever greatful to Dr Binford and his staff for the excellent care given to our animals over the years, but especially to our best friend, Ling Ling. Thank you one and all!! read more
