In addition to other guests, there was a group of 12 guys who were on a bachelor party. I'm mentioning this because they were very disruptive but that's not Jürgen's fault and he did his best with the situation. There is a brewing room that you walk through with explanations of the different stages of the beer brewing process. In the back is a tasting room and most of the tour took place there. We all sat around a table while the guide poured and explained the beers. There appears to be a slideshow and we looked at some of the slides that identified the three beers we tried but I think because the slides were in German, we didn't see the full presentation. The tour was a nice diversion and although I have been on many brewery tours, I still learned something from this one, particularly about German beer. After the tour, your hand stamp gets you a discount in the gift shop.

They used a little boat called the Advocat, and gave us a good one hour tour of the harbour and southern canals. I've been on other boat tours before, but this was he best one yet in Hamburg. They also laid on drinks for us on the boat. After touring around Wilhelmsburg for a while we stopped at a beer garden for some food (see my review of Zum Anleger (http://www.qype.co.uk/place/169353-Zum-Anleger-Hamburg) ). On the way back we used an open-top bus - which I was really looking forward to. Sadly there was a huge thunderstorm, so it became merely a ride home rather than something fun.

I had a lot of fun, I had never taken a boat trip into the harbor before and was excited by the new perspectives we had the chance to experience, like Landungsbrucken from the water's side and The Koehlbrandbrucke from underneath. I had a lot of fun and will make sure to recommend the tour to friends visiting from abroad!

However, no fewer than 4 times did he remind us that he was giving us the best tour experience ever, and if we agreed, he expected us to leave him a generous tip that would help him pay his rent. 4 times! I would prefer to pay the fair cost of a product upfront rather than being exposed to continual hard sell. Sometimes "free" is not without cost.

Funny, knowledgable, entertaining and charming. Two hours went by like nothing. And in the end we were equipped with plenty suggestions, wonderful tipps and special priced Harbour-Boat tickets. Most people honored the tour by putting 5 or 10 Euros into the pouch that made it's round. A prebooked tour of this quality would easily cost 20,00 to 25,00 € per person. UTE dieserves 5 stars AND a decent pay...

Over the past decade, a number of tours have sprung up to give visitors a look at some of the…read moredarker sides of Hamburg's St. Pauli quarter, from a historical look at the tricks of the prostitution trade that has flourished for centuries to lore as related by a costumed night watchman. But Steffanie Hempel's Beatles Tour is a standout for a number of reasons. First, Ms. Hempel's passion for her subject gives the tour a warmth and enthusiasm that other's lack. This is no surprise that she developed the tour herself 10 years ago. Another reason is that the tour is given in both German and English, and unlike some tours, the information in English is as extensive as it is in German. Further, instead of ping-ponging back and forth between languages, Ms. Hempel will explain a fact in German, then give the English version and add another tidbit, before going back to German. This gives the narration a more fluid course. As she leads the group between key sites, Ms. Hempel performs appropriate songs from the Beatles' early days, singing in a voice that is reminiscent of both Lennon and McCartney, while accompanying herself on her ukelele. It's quite good and tour participants are encouraged to join in at times. Passers-by often stop to take in the performances. Through her extensive knowledge of the Beatles, much of it gained from her interviews with people who knew and worked with the lads during their days in Hamburg from 1960-62, Ms. Hempel builds a convincing case that the band may not have emerged as the world-changing force they became had they not spent weeks on end playing 5-6 hours a night in seedy clubs. In fact, their first appearance, on the Indra club stage, came after the five members had only played together for one hour, with a drummer recruited as he was the only guy they knew with a full drum kit. The band was the promoter's fourth choice and they lived down to his expectations, with the show saved by the stripper performing along with the group. Ms. Hempel then builds the story as to how they honed their lineup, their looks, their songwriting skills and their musical talent over four extended stays in the Hansestadt. She ends the tour with a mini-concert at the St. Pauli Museum, where the sign above the door reads "From stories come history." At the museum, participants can grab an Astra beer, take a seat and sing along as Ms. Hempel takes up her guitar and plays a handful of songs. Singing along is strongly encouraged and lyric sheets are available, but from the first note, most of the guests sing along with the songs that shaped much of their lives. And from their their broad smiles, the tour has added to those happy memories. And to keep the spirit alive, Ms. Hempel has just released CD of her interpretations of a number of Beatles' songs.

He was also very informative and always checked to see if we had other questions he had not addressed. He also stuck around after the tour to give us suggestions on where to make reservations for dinner. (He was spot on with that recommendation. With the exception of one small, gentle hill, the route has little elevation change for easy peddling. We booked our tour through Vaitor and requested an English speaking guide. Although our fellow riders spoke German, the tour was primarily in English. Special thanks to our German friends for being so gracious. Florian, our guide, was friendly and knowledgeable about the many engaging sights along the tour. He truly enjoyed taking questions and sharing information about Hamburg. Highly recommended.

I found Minks on Yelp and reached out to them to help me purchase a bike to use for a few days as I traveled around. The responsiveness of the shop was extraordinary. Ole and Mink provided the highest level of customer service. They found a bike for me in less than 2 days. They personally delivered the bike to my hotel and help me fit the seat and made some last minute adjustments. How do you beat that outreach for customer service? I was absolutely humbled by their patience and kindness. They represent their country well. I am trying to get these guys to open a branch in the US. Go Minks! You have made a customer for life.

I broke my bicycle chain and needed it fixed quick so I came here. Service was friendly and quick…read moreto attend to me. They filed a form for me and took my phone number and my bike to fix. I was told that they'd call once it was done. 30 minutes later, I got a phone call that my bike was all fixed and ready to for pickup. I returned back and picked up my bike which was good as new all for 8 euros. This is quite good considering the chain joint replacement costs about 4 euros. The shop has two people working in it and they do both sales and repairs of bikes. I didn't look too keenly at their bikes but its pretty safe to say its more catered to the common rider; didn't see many road bikes. That said I own a road bike and they fixed it for me so that isn't a limitation on their repair services.
