History
Established in 1973.
In 1973, with a little help from my friends, I was able to start a business, based on a hobby I loved. We believed in the products we sold and recommended. There was no such thing as a VCR, a Walkman, a home computer, or a CD. But, as these new technologies evolved, Alterman Audio was there to explain, in easy to understand plain English, all about these new audio video technologies. We used our expertise to put together balanced and matched stereo component and home theater systems. We installed it all too. Unfortunately, when the recession hit and we had problems with our lease we were forced to close. But, now, we are back and right around the corner from the old store. Whether you are looking for a new turntable, a quality stereo component system or home theater TV system, please Sound Us Out.
Thanks

Meet the Business Owner: Henry A.
I came to New Orleans to attend Tulane University majoring in Electrical Engineering because of my love of music and interest in high fidelity stereo components. I started selling stereo equipment while still at Tulane. I found a store, right around the corner on Freret Street and rented it for $75 a month. Alterman Audio opened.
