Would give zero stars if possible. I initially contacted the business in February for a quote on dyeing two garments and to find out if fixing the color on them was possible. Marisela was quick to respond, and after a few more emails during which the dye process was explained, I told Marisela I wanted to proceed and asked her to confirm the mailing address. No response for several weeks, but I finally heard back after pinging her again and I shipped the items and provided her with the tracking number. Months later, no update. I wrote to find out what the status was, and she apologized for the delay and asked if I still wanted to proceed. I replied "Yes!" Back to silence. Since then I've sent a few more emails, including one where I stated it was clear that for whatever reason she was unable to do the requested work, and I asked for the items to be returned to me. I decided that I wanted to re-purpose my old wedding dress into a cocktail dress that I could wear to my son's wedding. Of course I couldn't wear white, so I found Alteria. Marisela did an amazing job dying my dress and I would highly recommend her services! She met with me and helped me pick out a color. She did a few samples ahead of time, to make sure the dye would react well as it was a satin dress from 35 years ago. The beading and lace even came out amazingly well! She even suggested that we deepen the color a bit after the first try, and the color came out even more breautiful. She also dyed some of the extra lace that had been cut off the original train of the dress in case I wanted to use it. I decided to add it to the bottom of the dress, which I am very glad she did. Used this company for my wedding dress, was beautifully done but I felt it was handled a bit unprofessionally. After they received it, it was radio silence so I asked twice for updates and was just told basically it's all good no pictures or anything and then eventually was sent 1 photo of my dress close up was told they'd put it on a mannequin to send more pictures; never did and then got a notification a few days later something from Florida was shipping to me so I texted seeing if they shipped it out. They did but I felt it was a bit wild they never sent me tracking or even told me they had shipped it and then they sent it to the billing address which was my dads address not even my own. I then sent a picture praising her work and saying how much I loved it and was left on read? I would not recommend sending a chair or couch slip cover to be dyed. I trusted the new color would be the same on each cover but they wete slightly different enough for my friends to notice. and also blotchy dark marks here and there. . originally asked for a grey blue but instead got a couch cover in a turquoise blue color which did not match my grey and blue tones in my living space. I emailed asking if there was anything they could do as far as me settling with a basic navy blue color easier to match but got no relply back. After paying upfront for the blouse to be dyed I kept checking back with Marisela throughout May to inquire as to the status and whereabouts of my item. This review has been a long time coming, and I apologize to Alteria for the delay. I have a vintage Chanel raincoat (fabric is viscose, poly- etc.) that was white but a dingy white/ivory, and it had been stained purple/navy in random spots from being hung too close to dyed leathers. I thought a complete dye job to black would be best for the raincoat, but who do you trust with vintage designer items that are kind of personally priceless, right? So with some Googling and reading reviews, I found Alteria, inquired about services, prices, and sent pictures of the raincoat. Marisela was very helpful and explained the entire process to me via email correspondence. I insured and shipped it and then waited. Marisela let me know when she received the item. She let me know they would remove the buttons and labels, etc. and there would be a tailor charge. I approved all that and was happy that they would be able to dye it. (I was worried because the fabric is "viscose" poly-/raincoat fabric, which typically repels water.) I inquired about where the raincoat was in the process after a couple weeks, and then I was sent images. Then I freaked out because the raincoat in the images didn't look like my original raincoat. I thought I was bamboozled, got snippy and rude. Marisela stayed calm and professional while I had a complete meltdown. She sent more pictures, and explained to me that the buttons and labels hadn't been replaced yet, so it would look different, and it really and truly did. So much so that I didn't recognize it. When I realized my mistake in jumping the gun and that the second set of pictures were indeed of my vintage Chanel raincoat, I calmed down, was embarrassed, and apologized for my behavior. Marisela continued to be calm and professional and reassured me that she understood. A couple weeks later, I received my raincoat, and the dye job is FANTASTIC! Not only does it look brand new, because it's a now a black color, I feel I can wear it more often. The tailoring job was medium, as one of the buttons on a pocket was sewn through the pocket, making the pocket unusable (fortunately I can sew and will fix this myself). Overall, it was the dye job I was most worried about, and Alteria (Marisela et al) did a phenomenal job with that. I would recommend them to anyone. The prices are reasonable. The shipping and process times are as expected. Just be prepared for a drastic change if you're going from a light color to a dark color. The only feeling I can liken it to is when you've had long hair your whole life and then get it all chopped off. It's a lot to take in. I was so excited to work with another woman-owned business to create a custom dyed suit to wear as I officiated my best friend's wedding. Marisela was quick to respond when discussing details like the suit fabric and color selection, because I bought a new white suit specifically to dye. Unfortunately once I sent my suit, I didn't hear back from Marisela for months. I checked in with her a month before the event, because I had sent her the suit in January, and by March I still hadn't received any updates. She told me she was aware of my deadline (originally communicated to her in November) and would have it ready. That deadline came and passed. A week after I was told I would get an update, after calling, emailing, and reaching out over multiple social media platforms, I heard nothing. Marisela finally sent an email with the first round of dyeing and suggested a second round because it was not the color we had agreed on. At this point there was a week before the event and I was left with no option but to hope that it worked out the second time around. It did not. The end product is splotchy and incredibly uneven. Marisela shipped the suit three days after she said she would, causing a lot of incredibly unnecessary stress and cost as the suit had to be overnighted in order to arrive in time. Additionally, I sent this suit in new and unaltered, so there was no time to hem or take in the suit and the color was very uneven. I gave this company months to dye my pieces with a guarantee that my color would be achieved because I had specifically purchased a more expensive, white suit brand new that is now unwearable. I definitely think that this project came out so poorly because it was rushed. When I asked for a refund because of the horrible end product and customer experience, I was told that the overnight shipping was really expensive so Marisela was unable to offer anything more than a 20% refund. She sent an 18% refund. Truly the worst experience I've ever had with another business, she was active online and posting other projects while leaving all of my frantic messages unread. I had a black cotton knit dress which had some discoloration due to my over use of Dawn to get out a grease stain. The Dawn took some of the color out. The dress was 100% cotton knit. I was told the process would dye it to a rich black again. The dress process, which was $70, left a blotchy outcome. I was told the fabric was difficult. There was no note when the package came to explain this. I can't imagine why 100% cotton would be difficult. I would NEVER recommend sending any garment here. DO NOT TRUST ALTERIA. She dyed my wedding dress and after it was done, said it would be shipped out within the week. After over a week I never got any shipping or tracking information so I emailed asking for it. I didn't hear back. So after another week of waiting I emailed again asking, didn't hear anything from her directly but then about a week later, got a tracking number from UPS. By then Florida, which is where she is based, was hit by a hurricane. So when my dress arrived the box was completely damaged, borderline destroyed, from water, and my dress was badly water stained and unwearable for my upcoming wedding in two weeks. Had she sent the dress on time, this would not have happened. I sent multiple emails letting her know that this had happened with absolutely no response, and after spending over $100 on getting the dress dry cleaned so I could wear it for my wedding I asked her if the least she could do would be to give me a refund for the dry cleaning bill. She still wouldn't respond, I filed an insurance claim with UPS who then said that if my claim was accepted they would give the refund to the company ( her not me) because of their ridiculous policies. Long story short I only got one email back from her when I threatened her with legal action saying that she would pay me for the dry cleaning service, but then she never did. As far as I'm concerned I am owed $100 by this company. I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau as well but A lot of good that'll do. I wish I had heeded the warning of Marie J. from March 2016. This was one of the worst experiences of my entire life. I live in South Florida not too far and I was able to drop off and pick up the garment I wanted dyed at her home/business. You would think that having this in-person interaction would have yielded a better result, but I have absolutely nothing positive to say. I had a pink bridesmaid dress I wanted dyed black. I understand that certain materials cannot accept colors... she had explained that to me at the beginning. So I asked what the options would be, and she made a few suggestions, I settled on a dark blue. She even texted me pictures of what it would look like, more or less, and I was okay with it. I explained that I had a special event and I would need to have the dress well before that date, and she agreed to the timeline... it gave her a little less than two weeks to do the whole thing so it's not like I didn't give her ample time. Well, after following up several times, I was finally able to get a hold of her, and the dress was ready the night before I needed it. When I went to pick it up, she told me that it had come out a little lighter in color than what she had anticipated, which I did not understand because she'd used excess fabric as trials. When I saw the dress, I wanted to cry. It was BABY BLUE. Not only was this NOT what we had discussed, but the color was not something I would EVER wear. She did not apologize, but rather, told me how much she liked the color and how versatile it was. I was devastated. We had originally agreed to $50 had this been done correctly, and she stated that she would still like to get paid for her efforts. Me being a nice person, I still gave her $20. Most people would have just walked out which is what I wish I had done. At that point, desperate and without other options, I had to go out and spend $40 on a dress for the special event. So now I'm out $60 and the dress ended up in the trash. Worst part of it all, is I could have just repurchased the dress in black and spent less money on it. I would say, if your garment is white or something that is really a blank canvas, go ahead and risk it. But if you're trying to achieve a major color change, go somewhere else. read more

This review is 99% for my sister, who doesn't Yelp, but her experience was so amazing I had to share. She bought a coat at a thrift shop last fall. Nice enough coat, sort of a '50's swing style. But the color - it was a weird, hideous, dead, bluish-grey, which when you put it on made YOU look dead as well. I begged her not to buy it, because to me, it was like throwing $50 down the drain. Oh but clever sister, she had plans for this coat which she did not tell me about. She ripped off all the buttons, packed it up, and shipped it off to a place in Hollywood, Florida named Alteria. Alteria is a company that dyes clothing (I had no idea such a place existed, but like I said, clever sister). She paid quite a bit more than what she did for the coat originally, but when it came back in the mail and she showed me - I was floored. At first I thought she was tricking me and that this was another coat that only sort of resembled the grey coat. But no - she had them dye it a deep, dark, inky black that changed the whole personality of this garment. It now looked like a really high quality thing you would easily pay $300-400 for in a shop. I was having the hardest time finding a dress the right color for my step daughter's bridesmaid's dress. We finally found a white dress that was perfect, but of course not the right color. I had a white party event to attend and found a dress I absolutely loved but it was anything but white. I found Alteria garment dyeing and alterations online and decided to call. The owner Marisela was so friendly over the phone and answered all my questions so honestly that I decided to bring the dress to her to have it dyed to white. When I met her not only was she professional and curteous but very personable. Most importantly however was that not only did the color of the dress come out perfect, but she knew I was on a time crunch and she had it ready for me in the matter of days! While I wound up not sending a dress to her to be dyed (she actually helped with TWO dresses), I have no doubts whatsoever that anything I sent would have come back just as I'd have wanted. I had something of an emergency for my daughter's wedding and only had four weeks. The time and patience Marisela took to explain what each fabric combination might do, her concerns and her willingness to help me in a crazy time was above and beyond customer service. She was responsive to emails, helpful, patient, incredibly knowledgeable about different fabrics and how they take the dyeing process and was just genuinely kind. It's hard to find that in "online dealings" these days, and I so appreciate Marisela's calm and her assurance that all would be okay. I sent my wedding gown to Marisela to be lightly washed in color for my wedding (next year). Marisela kept me updated along the way.. when they received the dress, when they had done the first wash on it etc. And then she sent the picture of it with the light wash of color for me to determine if it needed an additional wash. It didn't as the first wash came out perfect! It is the lightest shade of green. It's even more beautiful than I had imagined it could be! It's gorgeous! The color really makes the dress.
