I took my bridesmaid dress here looking to get it hemmed & taken in since it was a bit loose and the back zipper poked out so I asked for that to be fixed. I paid around $85 for this service. I came back a couple days later and tried on the dress after it has been altered and was extremely unsatisfied and disappointed. I asked for the dress to be floor length with the heels that I will be wearing in which I also brought with me when I dropped off the dress to get the exact measurements. The front of the dress length was floor length, however, the back was short after the tailor had tried to take in the zipper part. The lady had questioned me if it was the same heels that I was wearing when I tried on the dress initially and I said yes, because this is the same pair of heels that I will be wearing to the wedding for this dress. I brought the exact heels for the EXACT measurements. I'm not new at getting alterations done so why would I wear a different heel length if I'm trying to get it hemmed to a certain length. She made the zipper part uneven, and it looked messy overall. I told her I was not happy with it and wanted a refund so that I can take it somewhere else to do a better job. She ensured that she could fix the issue and had me wait 20 minutes for her to fix it so I agreed. Once she tried to fix it, I tried it on again and the zipper part still bulged out. The length in the back of the dress was better, but the side of the dress was still shorter so I can tell that the dress was not cut evenly from the start. The lady tried to tell me it would be even after she steamed it. I can tell just by steaming it that it would not be even. Again, I asked for a refund because I did not have time that day to sit around and wait for however long for it to be fixed again. I needed to go out of town. I asked for a refund AGAIN and she finally agreed to give me a partial refund which I accepted. During the refund process, I use the same credit card that I paid with a couple days prior when I dropped off the dress, but on the receipt, their system showed a different card number. I provided them with proof and confirmation and even showed my bank statement that this was the same card that I use to pay which also listed out the business' name. They still gave me a hard time and kept going back-and-forth for around 15 to 20 minutes. It's like they thought I was lying or something. I showed them the date it was purchased with their business name and my statement. Mind you, I dropped off the dress Tuesday 1/27 and picked it up Friday 1/30 so it was only 3 days. After however, long, she finally gave me the refund via cash because they couldn't figure it out. This couple was giving me a very hard time the entire time. I do not recommend this alteration place. Their work is not great. They rush your alterations and do not care what it looks like. Seems like they just want to make a quick buck with lousy service. She nearly ruined my dress. And the length is now unfixable. Do not waste your time and money. read more

Brought my sport coat to be altered and hemmed 8 days ago. I specifically asked when he can get it done. He said to give him 8 days and will get it ready by 4pm. I called on the 3rd day and he said it will be ready. Came in on the 8th day and he did not even start it. He asked me to return the next day, when I said I cannot, he said to return in an hour. Came back in an hour and still working on it. I paid full 135$ in advance to get 2 sport coat hemmed and altered. Nice guy but Not reliable when it comes to deadlines. I came here a few weeks ago and paid over 270 bucks to make alterations to some suits and was told that they would be ready on 12/19. I never received a call or anything so I came back a week later to check in on how my suits were doing and they had not been touched or altered at all. I asked for a refund because it really seemed like they had forgotten about my suits despite all the extra time they had. They then began lying to me saying they had already done alterations to it so I told them to show me where. They became speechless and just kept repeating "please, we'll have it done". The truth was my suits were untouched hanging on the rack. I told them it's fine, I just want a refund so I can take my suits somewhere else. They then finally agreed to giving me a refund but were refusing to refund the tax they taxed me. Horrible customer service. This shop has been my go-to tailor & alterations spot for over 7 years. As a Mills 50 resident, this shop is convenient and within walking distance for me but I have tried 4 other tailors within the area and I have to say, Minh's is a great combination of speed, cost, communication and service. The only reason I tried the other tailors was for comparison and to see who had the better prices but every time, I found my way back to Minh's. It's not often that I go into a place and I'm greeted warmly by name but this is one of the places! Over the last 7 years, I have gotten tons of garments altered here and I've never had an incident. Since my inseam is a little shorter than most pants that are off-the-rack, I have to get almost all of my pants hemmed so that made me a regular here In addition to my pants getting hemmed or tapered, I have had sleeves shortened and tapered, the waist of jackets tapered and shoulder lines adjusted on a number of shirts and jackets I thrifted. I've even had curtains hemmed here. Minh and his partner have always been easy to communicate with in my opinion but if you find yourself having difficulty with the language barrier, I would suggest bringing in a similar article of clothing with the perfect fit to use as a template for the article of clothing you're wanting to alter, just to give you peace of mind. In terms of speed, I've gotten items back within 24 hours but on average, I get my clothes back within 3-4 days. As far as cost, their prices are on par with other tailors in the area. $12-15 for hemming and around $20-25 for tapering/slimming. You can find street parking along Mills to enter in the front or in the back of the shop behind the retail strip. You can enter at Lake Highland or Montana Street and walk in through the back. read more

He pulled the fabric to show me where it would sit and asked questions, made suggestions, and offered recommendations. I felt I was in great hands. My suit was from Express and already had some detailing on the sleeve. He explained to me he would need to pull up the sleeve from the shoulder and what the pricing would be. Everything was very clear before I left him with the suit. He asked for the date of the event and gave me a week before to pick it up and check that it was to my liking. They gave my clothes new life! Outside of formal (wedding) events, I've never visited a tailor before so I was a little confused about the process of tailoring clothes. I had a few items that I loved, but couldn't wear due to their fit. Minh and his wife (I'll get her name next time) did phenomenal work to bring my clothes back to life. They hemmed a couple shirts and tailored a dress to better fit my body. It was a pretty painless process -- after you arrive, you wait a little bit if someone's in the fitting room, then you're called into the fitting room to try on your clothes, and Minh or his wife then come in to fit your clothes and make any adjustments based on your requests. I think they adjust the price based on fabric type and time necessary per item. Personally, I felt their prices were fair based on the quality of their work. I paid $15 per top for hemming and $25 to take in the waist on a dress. I do understand how it can add up if you get multiple things done on one item, but it an item of clothing is worth it, then so is getting it to fit your body. You pay upfront, and it took them a week to complete my order. All in all, I highly recommend Minh's for your alternation needs. Will definitely be revisiting them again soon. read more

I've been using this tailor since I moved to Orlando a couple years ago. At least half a dozen times. The work is excellent and the pricing is reasonable. You usually can't tell the difference between original factory stitching and their (Minh's) tailoring. I only gave them a three star rating because none of their work has been on time. I've been in the shop when other customers were having the same problem. One poor guy was there to pick up a jacket he needed for a wedding that evening. Wasn't done. I dropped off three pair of pants to be hemmed on 4/20. They told me the pants will be ready on 4/29. Not only prices are high, but you also pay upfront to wait 9 days. I went to pick them up on May 1st (three days after they were supposed to be ready) and to my surprise the pants were not ready, they hadn't even start. Went by at 4:55pm and he was just starting on the pants!! Unreal. Plus they lost a button from the jacket. Now late for an appointment due to their tardiness in getting the alterations done. Wonderful service and finished product! I brought in a long evening gown that had to be altered in a week for a black tie wedding. I walked in and was greeted by staff who directed me to try on my dress in the private room. When I was ready she came in so we could discuss what needed done and she made the chalk lines to indicate the areas to adjust. It had to be shorted, let out here and taken in there. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CLOTHES HERE. I brought a dress in for a wedding that needed to be hemmed for length because I saw they had great reviews. When I picked up the dress, there was a hole in the front of the dress that looked like it had been burned. I asked about the hole and the woman tried to say she didn't do it however I brought the dress in completely new never washed or worn. I also have pictures which I will be uploading. They made me pay before the alterations which I show have known was a red flag. No tailor has ever asked me to do this. They also were extremely rude when I asked about the whole and said they did not do it. I'm not one to post reviews but I needed to get my story out. They refused to help me in any way and refused a refund. Now I have to buy a entirely new dress. Would not recommend using their services!! read more

I went here to get my wedding dress tailored. It was a size too big, too long, and I wanted to discuss possibly getting rid of the embroidery on the dress. The reviews were great and it was very close to me so I thought I'd give it a try. I came in after work and was very happy with my experience. I forgot my shoes but they had a pair that was equivalent to the heels I was wearing so I was able to get the hem the exact length I wanted. I discussed removing the beaded/embroidered layer entirely but keeping the sparkly belt. We added cups and brought the sides in. I came back two weeks later and was so happy with the result. The satin underlayer looks like it was made that way. The horsehair braid hem was sewn perfectly and pressed. You could not tell that the dress had been dismantled and re-sewn together.
