Since I'm only 17, I had to get a consent form for my father notarized. Brian, the piercer, provided us with the form. We got it notarized, and came back. My dad was filming everything, before the process, during, and after. Brian was very nice and even agreed to answer my dad's questions and let us film the process! The process of piercing my nose was very speedy, and Brian gave very helpful and specific instructions for aftercare. The piercing was only 25 dollars, and Brian uses surgical steel! Keep in mind that there are is only "standard" jewelry for all the piercings (metal with a clear/white small jewel for mine). Still very pretty and worth the price. I also bought the aftercare spray for 15$ so I wouldn't have to spend 15 minutes 3 times a day soaking my nose in a salt mixture. Instead I just spray!

There's really not a better and more well rounded ink shop in South Florida. I've been watching Poochs work for over ten years now, and a couple of years ago finally got started on my back piece I've had in mind. I'm about 15 hours in, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the result. Pooch worked closely with me on the design, and made sure it was the vision for the piece I had. It probably helped that I gave him a large amount of creative freedom (and if you're going to one of these artists, you should do the same.) The other artists there are phenomenal as well. Scott White is my girlfriend's tattoo artist, who worked to make sure she was 100% on board with the design and the final result. It was her first tattoo, and she hasn't experienced a moment of anything other than elation of how it turned out. Dean's work is amazing too, ESPECIALLY if you're considering a horror theme. I don't have as a direct of tie to his work, but having spent so much time in the shop, I can certainly speak on how talented he is. Bottom line:Most talent in a single shop I've seen in South Florida. Like any group of artists, they all have very distinct styles...but you cannot go wrong with any of the artists at Altered State. read more

All of my husband's tattoo's are from Pooch's shop. All of the artists there are great at what they do but are still humble and real. The shop is super clean and the work is top notch. He will not go anywhere else and always recommends this shop to anyone looking for a piece or a cover-up. I do want to note that the artists in this shop are not just people who look at a picture and then go to work. They are true artists. What a real tattoo artist should be. By far the best shop I've been to in the 20+ years of getting tattooed, that's why they've been my ONLY shop in the past 10ish years. The stylist, Alex, repeatedly scolded my 7 year old son for not brushing his hair well, told him the haircut would continue to hurt because he hadn't taken care of his hair, and spoke to him in a way that was embarrassing and unkind. To make matters worse, the salon had accidentally double-booked our appointments. The appointment was made over the phone by the salon, yet we were blamed and spoken to as though it was our fault for two bookings at the same time. Instead of working with us to resolve the mistake, we were met with criticism. Everyone has a difficult day from time to time, but some folks just don't have the energy for working with children. I sincerely hope no other family leaves feeling as embarrassed and emotionally drained as we did. Thankfully, we've found some lovely and patient salons nearby in Boca.
