One of the things I knew I wanted to do on my recent trip to France was spend a day in wine…read morecountry. Based on solid reviews for Authentica we booked the full day tour (€130/pp). I would say this tour is best for those with some wine knowledge as they delve deep into the history and geography of the region. The focus is on education rather than guzzling a lot of wine. We visited a private cellar that represented many producers and had an introduction to what the region makes. After that, you'll see beautiful countryside, as well as the most expensive vineyard in the world (€15K/bottle!!). Then a stop in Beaune for lunch (on your own) and on to a woman owned winery to delve deep into the difference terroir makes in wine. Our guide Paul was incredibly knowledgeable about the region and wine in general. I would probably have wished for another winery stop versus lots of driving but ultimately I learned a ton and really enjoyed it!

We had a wonderful guide and learned so much. There is some cheese provided at the shop to pair with your tastings. Many of us bought a couple bottles. Some of these wines only sold locally not exported. They will ship your purchases for you. I recommend bringing water, take photos of the wines tasted and documents you're given as notes. I would recommend this highly.

My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and had 3 nights planned in the…read moreBurgundy region. Wanting an efficient "taste" of the region we decided to take a privately escorted tour. We decided on Burgundy on a Plate based on the very interesting tours that Sue offered as we were looking for something more unique, more personal and more local and Burgundy on a Plate appeared as a huge standout. Since our joint goal was to learn as much as we could about the wine, region and terroir we wanted an english speaker who could translate the intricacies of the region in a detailed manner. As much as we are fascinated with the wines of the region we were also excited and intrigued about truffles, foods, and fruits of the region. Sue is the type of person you find yourself wanting to spend more time with. She is knowledgeable, witty, and very charming. We enjoyed her "joie de vivre" and her passion for France, Burgundy, wine and all things gourmet. She was very organized and timely with her domaine visits, and seemed to have good rapport with the vintners. I talked on the 'phone with Sue ahead of time which was well worth doing as we had the best customized tour possible.

We spent 5 days with Sue in June 2018 as part of her Burgundy Wine & Gastronomy Tour. What an…read moreexcellent experience! Sue's knowledge of wine, food, and the local area provided a once in a lifetime experience beyond our expectations, and her inside knowledge and connections with the local winemakers provided access to experiences that would have otherwise been unknown or off limits. We highly recommend Burgundy on Plate if you want to truly experience all that Burgundy has to offer! - Michael & Christianne, Indiana, USA

Florian shared his extensive knowledge of local wine accompanied with the region's history. Touring the area by bike gives you the opportunity to really take in the incredible sights and smells of the area. After a short ride, we stopped for a snack and a glass of local wine. Florian even shared produce from his garden. Our next stop was an explanation of a plat of roadside vines. Then, a short bike to Chassagne Montrachet. After touring the winery, we were treated to a very informative tasting by winery staff. We were able to experience the differences in wines due to their distinct terrior. Our next stop was a picnic style lunch at a very nice restaurant. It really gave our group an opportunity to chat and really enjoy Burgundy, over food and wine. We also discovered Florian's home town, Rully, makes very nice wine. After an enjoyable lunch, we cycled to Pommard. There was a headwind, but still a lovely ride. Domaine Lejeune was the last stop of our tour and it was a lovely ending. We were treated to a winery tour during harvest. Seeing the action at the sorting table was a bonus for a winelover. The tasting did not disappoint. We enjoyed wines from Pommard and Mersault. Two of my favorite Burgundian wines! From Pommard, we were transferred back to the pickup location(Tourist Office) by van. Our full day tour seemed to pass quickly and were appreciative to have taken in so much of Burgundy in such a short period. I recommend you ask questions and by an active participant in the tour. Florian is an excellent tour guide who's knowledge extends much further than the local wine and a fun guy to spend the day with. Daryl Gaitan

Our host used to be a sommelier in Paris and had extensive knowledge of wines and food pairings and great vintages.......he knew his stuff We purchased 2 cases of a mixture of everything we tried and let me tell you it could not have been easier. Surely made the decision easy to get that extra bottle or 12 since we didn't have to schlep it back in our luggage Arrived within the week via FedEx and the experience from start to finish was such a joy.
