The Village is a real find. Walking with our skis and snowboards on our shoulders through the small streets to Restaurant Gotschna was a short stroll through a quaint, beautiful and historic Swiss Village. Like Serneus, the Restaurant is a real treasure. We arrived between lunch and dinner so the restaurant was ours. Albert the owner opened his kitchen for us with local sausage, homemade bread, senf and his signature barley soup (distinctive to the region). When done, he brought out some of the best carrot cake and bailey's cake you will find (both made by a local woman in the Village). The food was very very good. Albert is a true chef. His training from some of the top Hotel restaurants in Asia make eating at Restaurant Gotschna very unique. The menu has many of the signature Swiss dishes but also has Curry, Sushi, Satay, Dim Sum and other specialities from his Asia life. I guarantee dinner at Gotschna is fantastic. Lastly, Albert is the soul of the place. We did not get to meet his wife Renee but surely it must be a special evening with Al and Renee!

I had the Chanterelles (just picked and delivered from the mountaintop) with noodles, air dried meats -better than any I had on our whole trip, and homemade lavender ice cream with lavender from their own garden. Trained in the best Hotels in Southeast Asia, like the Peninsula Hotel in Manila etc, the service is "Peninsula Hotel" professional and the team are the nicest people you will meet. They even offer sushi!. My only regret is that I didn't have enough time to try everything on the menu. Go to the place, you will be so delighted.

And it was an enormous serving. The picture doesn't really do it justice, as the plate was about the size of a large pizza. Despite being quite full, I made room for the homemade apple strudel, which was perfectly done. I thought overall the value was good, though pricing feels inconsistent. Small soup and dessert were 12.50 each, which seemed a bit high. Large bottle of water was 10.50, which is very high. But the salad was only 21.80, which is very reasonable considering the size and quality. Moral of the story: drink wine or beer, and skip the water. Service was friendly and efficient. A cool thing in the winter is they'll rent you a sled for the way down. I wish I had done this, as the path is well groomed. Next time!

We'd just arrived from Zürich for an overnight and she couldn't help herself but gush about how much she and her dad loved Kaffee Klatch Klosters. They'd been coming there for decades (she was a ski racer) and loved how the more recent owners had transformed the place. Their spontaneous and friendly approach perfectly captured the ambience. There were smiling faces abounding not only amongst the helpful staff but with the groups of diners. At the corner table and couch was a family with young children doing school homework. The staff all spoke excellent English and made us feel like regulars.

My biggest complaint: the heating - I had no chance to get the room temperature to a normal level, despite having turned the thermostat fully down. Only opening the window helped. The room key system is a hassle. If you leave the hotel you can't just drop your keys or take them with you, but have to go to a board on a wall by the reception and exchange the room for a house key - a bit dated for the 21st century. Parking garage is a pain to get in/out, featuring a steep ramp and a garage door opener (key operated wall switch) you can't reach from your car. The hotel has wireless internet... though, one of those systems you have to constantly login again - not user friendly Last thing there is a main street in the front - make sure to book a room facing the back or is on the top floor.
