Haircuts for masochists…read more I always wondered why there never seemed to be anybody in this hairdressing salon when I walked past. Now I know. I took my youngest son for a haircut there on the basis that it would be cheap and quick and what could go wrong? Well, it was certainly quick. They seemed to work on the basis that customers were an unpleasant infestation in the shop that should be dispatched as quickly as possible. My son, 7, is one of the most agreeable children that I know and is always keen to please, yet they treated him like he was a little pest . I was in a rush to do some last-minute Christmas shopping so I left him there with some friends of mine having his haircut and agreed to meet them in the shop on my return. When I came back 20 minutes later I discovered that they were no longer in the shop because they were not allowed to wait there because the haircut has been done - despite the fact that the shop was empty and I know that my children are well behaved. The haircut was nothing special and it was more expensive than my normal hairdresser where they treat us all like human beings. For those of you with a masochistic bent, I highly recommend this hairdresser. It is overpriced for what they do, unfriendly and there are plenty of better alternatives nearby. On the other hand, you are unlikely to have to wait because it is clearly unpopular - for good reason!

I got a new customer welcome pack and then had a good chat with my hairdresser Neil who was lovely and came up with a style that would help get rid of the worst of the damage. You can choose who cuts your hair from a trainee to an experienced stylist and there are usually good offers with the trainees, new stylists advertised on a board outside the shop. The salon is modern and has a trendy feel about it, staff are always neatly turned out and helpful. A place to feel pampered. They sell hair products and on the occasions i have visited i was given tips on how to keep my hair looking good at home and i enjoyed the experience and felt i had the stylists full attention which some places i don't feel like that, it can all seem as though they are in a rush or distracted but not Tramps in Bedgrove.
