if you don't want to experience the worst customer service ever, stay away from alta cal roofing. we experienced a classic case of great initial presentation, smooth talking, over promising and most definitely under delivering. once the contracts were signed it was as if we were dealing with a complete stranger. for starters, alta cal roofing refused to honor our simple request. we asked to not only replace the dry rotted wood, but to replace all the wood, which they didn't. it was an argument at every turn from the owner, stating all the wood doesn't need to be replaced. our thought was it's 43 years old, we're getting a new roof, it may not be bad today but we don't want to deal with problems five years from now. if it cost an extra few hundred dollars ok. we still met resistance. it was so bad, we had to have two additional inspections because the city would not sign off on alta cal's work. in fact, a large portion of the roof had to be pulled off, and completely redone. i can quote the inspector saying, he's never seen anything like this. when brought to alta cal's attention, all they had to say was that that rancho cordova inspectors are a bunch of "red neck" inspectors who know nothing about the roofing business. a 3-5 day project took almost two weeks to complete. even after all the issues and several calls to "dave" the owner, we saw him twice. once at the initial contract signing and once after the job was done when he wanted his money. now guess what! four months later we have leaking gutters, soft spots on the roof and the list of displeasure continues. do yourself a favor. don't be tricked, do your research, check the "better business bureau, department of consumer affairs and any other viable information source for contractors. when i called to address all of our concerns "one" of the questions i was asked is, if the roof isn't leaking, what are your concerns. mind you, that was just one of the negative comments / insults that i was subjected to. read more
