We had organised late check in and they were pleasant and kind to deal with when I wS organising that over the phone. They also rang when we landed to check when we would be arriving. The place is so close to Melbourne which is a huge bonus for the price. There was a car park out the back so no street parking. The night manager was kind and helpful. When we got to our room we were impressed. The bathroom was large and lovely - free tea and coffee as usual, nice tv and comfy bed - what more can you ask for? The one complaint I can see people making but didn't bother us is the walls are quite thin so you can hear people around you. (At one point the bathroom coughed haha)

Gotta love the brunny! Wednesday night's been a usual spot for me and my mates since we found out…read moreabout open mic night. Last semester a bunch of my international friends would muster up the courage after a few drinks to play but now I just go for the 10 dollar jugs & random acts. I don't come here enough seeing as it's literally only a block away but this will change once exams finish up. I'm super bummed I can't go tonight which is why I've decided to get the word out for any one who may be available. With the ram stop right outside theres no reason for anyone to pass up the opportunity to chill at the brunny. Go grab some cheap beer and head here for a comfy night lounging with live music ASAP! There are always random bands playing from around the area and it's always fun to hear new music. The best part though, yeah you didn't think it could get any better did you? Well, the best part is the beer garden. You know a place has got to be good when they've mastered the layout of each room to suit pretty much anyone and everyone.

I'd never been before but everyone seemed to think this was a good venue for cheap drinks and relaxed atmosphere. That is exactly the perception i got out of it. You cannot miss that crazy purple sign above the door and once you enter the dimly lit venue has not a lot going for it, but everyone inside is totally chilled giving the place a real laid-back feel. We arrived and they were sitting out back so i ordered a drink and headed out to the large beer garden. There's a large wooden communal table with small slum-couches scattered around. The venue is usually busy but never really feels 'packed out', such a great little place.

This pub is in Brunswick, and is pretty grungy meaning that it is a destination for live music,…read morewell, most of the time, namely because one evening during the Christmas period a friend and I came here for a drink, and some live music one Friday night only to discover that it was shut. Well, that was a real disappointment because, well, we were looking for some cool, and free, live music that we could chill out to with a beer, not that the live music would be considered chilled in this part of town. I guess that is why I love pubs like this one.

Nothing flashy on the inside, but a nice outdoor seating area out the back and a few out the front too. A great place to have a chat with friends, while drinking a local Brunswick beer or cider.

But here's the problem, the bar person let my colleague close the tab, and then charged my card, but wouldn't hand over the card, even after my colleague offered to get me on the phone. So, understand this, they understood enough to charge my card, but not enough to hand said card over to the person who they obviously understood was drinking with me. I now need to travel 45 minutes tomorrow to get my card and license. Really?

I've had a snack here previously and it was good so was time to try the mains. I had the pan fried crispy skin barramundi with kipfler potatoes, green beans in a buttery sauce. Absolutely sensational. The fish was cooked so well I was a little sad when my plate was empty. It was $26 and well worth it in my opinion. The venue itself is pretty big with a large main bar area, a separate dinning room, a pool room, and a rather ramshackle garden (which can sometimes reek from the kitchen extraction fans). They have food specials during the week (think today's, Monday, was Roo and wine night - sounds interesting). All in all a good neighbourhood pub with above average food.

Maybe he was telling me a porky pie, but then I sometimes wonder what he would achieve out of that (other than the pleasure of sending me for an hour long bus ride for no reason whatsoever). Mind you, while I haven't been to an over 28's club, I have walked passed one, and I must admit that the patronage was not the type of people I would feel comfortable around. As for this pub, well, it has everything that you would expect from a suburban Woolworths pub. It has pokie machines, a restaurant, and a sports bar, as well as a half decent beer garden (something that I have not come to expect from some of these pubs because they seem to prefer people to be inside playing pokies than outside smoking cigarettes). The pub also seems to have live bands, though they don't have the impressive line up of washed up 80s rock bands that the Doncaster Shoppingtown hotel has.
