I never expected to eat the most delicious Greek food I've ever tasted in Germany, of all places!…read moreThis was my first meal after arriving in Europe, and the server went out of his way to make it special. The ambiance was spectacular with candlelight tables and relaxing music. I ordered the Farmer's Salad, but I was brought soup and bread with a delicious spread before dinner and a cinnamon sugar caramel fried dough dish after the main course for dessert. The salad was exceptional, of course, as were all of the other dishes served. The price was extremely reasonable given the quality of the meal and the top-notch service. 10/10 would come here again! Edit: They only take cash, so make sure to have some on hand when you come here. There is an ATM nearby if you need one, though.

What a great place for a great dinner!!! Visiting our son locally, looked for a restaurant we would…read moreall enjoy and came upon Metaxa Greek. Wow. So glad we did. We normally enjoy Greek, being from FL, and located Metaxa. From the outside appearance right through to the seating. Sat at a nice table by the window, they offer great appetizers but before even ordering they bring you grilled bread with a dipping sauce, a bowl of soup and a very flavorful salad, all at no charge. We ordered 3 different dinners and 3 drinks. Souvlaki, gyro platter and gyro "bake". All were great! Very plentiful. Upon finishing, we were delivered a homemade desert of deep fried dough balls drizzled with honey/chocolate and dobs of whip cream. Very tasty and again, at no charge!! Then Yanni, the owner, dropped by with free shots of ouzos, which he too had with us!!! Very great service and the personal touch of the owner is what makes a dining experience memorable and worth what you pay. All though we leave on the am, we will be back and for sure will go there a few times while visiting again. My son all ready plans on going back next weekend. Do yourself a solid and go check out Metaxa, you will be happy you did and for sure will have a great dining experience!!

Poseidon was a wonderful and unexpected hole-in-the-wall find. The restaurant had a dark allure to it, only to be lit brightly by the warm hospitality of its owner. We sat at a humble, candlelit booth for two. The menu was fairly extensive but very reasonably priced. We proceeded to order a couple of (non-alcoholic) beers, and some tzatziki and grilled garlic bread as starters. Let's get into details about the food. [[Tzatziki]] - this was, hands down, the best I've ever had. It looks so simple, yet it was an explosion of flavors. It was perfectly cool and refreshing from the cucumbers, and flavorful with all of the garlic. The yogurt they use is superior to that of America, so it was creamier and thicker. It was so good, we ordered two! [[Garlic Bread]] - though simple, and nothing far-fetched from the ordinary, the grill imparted a wonderful smokey flavor onto the garlic bread, which was delectably crisped and buttered. We used it to dip in the tzatziki. [[Poseidon Platter]] - the restaurant namesake dish. It included calamari, sole fish, and scampi, served with rice. This was delicious, and the presentation was beautiful. Each seafood was fried with care, and the batter was light and crisp, allowing the seafood's flavors to shine. [[Athens Plate]] - this dish came with gyro, lamb chop, steak, pork, and rice. The meat was seasoned and grilled to the tee. This was my friend's dish, but from what I tried, and he ate, it was more than just satisfying. It's been a couple of days since our dinner at Poseidon, and on my first trip to Europe ever. I am, to this moment, reminiscing this dinner experiencing, and longing for another chance to revisit Poseidon once more.

Better than I remember - tasty, fresh and authentic. Excellent service! My favorites: tzatziki,…read moregrilled pepperoni, fried zucchini, grilled sardines. Yam!
