Absolutely the worst place I have ever stayed. The rooms were horribly drab, the lighting…read moredepressing and the towels frayed and quite obviously used beyond their lifecycle. A staff member told me to eat elsewhere as the chef had quit, warning the kitchen wasn't good. During a cold evening in winter, the heat was shut off at 11:00. When I phoned the desk (four times), and someone made a show of 'fixing it,' I was finally told the heat was shut off at night! Would have been awful at $50 but it was a holiday week (not another room anywhere) so it was more than three times that! It was a depressing experience made more so by the lack of care on the part of the staff. I cancelled Monday (when I arrived!) for my Thursday night stay and was told by several people it was plenty of notice to be refunded to meet their three day cancellation policy. Never happened. After 6+ calls to the UK, and numerous attempts to speak with someone (or perhaps a return call?), was informed that it didn't meet their cancellation criteria. Whether or not I'd been refunded, I'd still have written them a horrific review. . Did I mention the beer in their pub sucked? And quite frankly, there isn't enough beer in the world to make this place palatable.

It is located in quiet town and as such we had 2 good quiet nights sleep. There is ample car parking, although I would have liked a better lit car park. The staff were very friendly upon arrival and at breakfast. Our room was clean, well maintained and very welcoming after a long drive. We had booked a twin room but in actual fact we stayed in a family room with a double and a single bed. Towels were provided as were shower gel and shampoo. There was plenty coffee and tea supplies for us to use, a trouser press and a table top ironing board should we choose to use them. Breakfast was a choice of continental or full english, so we tried both. The first morning we had cereals, toast and warm croissants with coffee, which was lovely. The second morning we chose to try the English breakfast, which comprised of bacon, sausage, fried egg, black pudding and tinned tomatoes. It was plenty big enough for us both but I personally thought the black pudding was too dry. A minor disappointment was that the hotel didn't have a full time chef at the time of our visit and so we chose to ate in a public house in the vicinity on both evenings. We would have liked to try the hotel's food but went for the safe option of eating elsewhere. In summary, this is a friendly quiet quaint hotel close to Gloucester city, which we would happily stay in again.

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in for its star rating and price point. The young lady at check in was very polite and helpful, but sadly it was all downhill from there. There was some kind of function going on into the night, and it was extremely loud and carried into my room at the back of the property. Breakfast was OK but certainly nothing special, and there was an extremely limited selection of cold items in the included breakfast buffet. (You had to pay for full English, even with a breakfast inclusive rate!) The very worst part though was that the bathroom was dirty (by which I mean the toilet still had someone else's poop tracks, and there was a long black hair in the bathtub - a whole lot of ick) and the housekeeping in the room hadn't been that much better. But I was exhausted from all the driving we had done that day, so I just went to sleep, and put it down as a poorly managed and run property which is a bit of a missed opportunity given the location. When I decided to email the hotel manager to discuss this feedback with him/her, I sent an email to property asking for the GM's contact details and was told that guests are not permitted to get "higher management details without their permission"! Says it all really about what "higher management" at this hotel think of their guests.

Overall the area is nice (Cotswolds) that's why we chose to stay here. Would definitely be back (loved the armchair on the corridor).
