Excessive fees....$600+ to spend less than an hour unplugging a line…read more While the staff (2 people needed to run a cable) were good, the price was taking advantage of a moment when you don't have the time to shop around. Never again.

(Update: in response to the company's response. I did contact you before writing a negative…read morereview and spoke with the receptionist. So stop your lies. You are a horrible company and each interaction just reinforces that opinion. It is ILLEGAL to add charges after the fact. If you fail to fully inform customers, the fault is yours, the loss is yours. I reiterate, customers STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.) UPDATE: I just received a collection notice for the amount of the bill I did not pay as I was not told about the extra charge until after the work was completed, This is illegal business behavior. STAY AWAY from these people, they can not be trusted. ORIGINAL review: RE: Above Board Electric in Newport, Oregon I can not recommend this company. A technician came out the same day I called, but I was not told this and I was not home, fortunately, a friend was using my kitchen and let him in. The technician said I needed new batteries and a new charger for my stairlift and emailed me what to get and where to get it. He was wrong about the charger. It just needed a new fuse. An invoice was emailed to me, which I never received. Today I was called and told I owed $214.74, although, I was originally only told of a $145 an hour charge. I was told the rest was probably a travel charge. When I said I had not been told about the travel charge, that part of the bill should have been dropped. (Frankly, they should have been able to tell me over the phone what the problem was since they were wrong about the charger and did not even look at the chair itself.)

I reached out through Yelp for estimates to replace the panel in my house and install a car…read morecharger. Scott quoted me 600-1500, and asked to come out the next day, not even looking at where I lived on a map. I couldn't do the next day and requested the following week, and he asked to come over the weekend. Then he increased his estimate by more than double, and made it sound like he was giving me a deal when he shaved a couple hundred off. After a lot of back and forth, he ended up saying he was coming and then not showing up just about 5 days in a row after realizing I lived further away than he thought and making excuse after excuse . He'd say he was coming, and text me 10 minutes before he said he'd be at my house telling me it wasn't happening, like I hadn't rearranged my entire day expecting him. To top all of this off, today I had to file a dispute against him with my credit card, because he's as of yet refused to refund me the $750 deposit he made me give him. He pushed me repeatedly to pay him via venmo or cash and now I'm SO happy I didn't because you can't dispute those payment methods. In the end, I got a different company to do the work for $2000, a full grand less than Scott quoted and it was done cleanly, quickly, and without issue. I would be extremely wary of hiring this company, they do not have it together.

Scott took a deposit the week before Christmas and then continued to not show up to more than eight…read morescheduled appointments, providing last minute and bizarre explanations. He never showed up after weeks of running me around and hours of waiting and scheduling my day around him showing up. He still has my $500 deposit and I have yet to see his face. I have chronic pain and saved for a year to afford a therapeutic hot tub for pain relief and I could have had the wiring installed ten time by now but instead am short $500 for the job and will have to wait another couple of months before I can afford it again. He is crook and I assume a major tweaker from our conversations. DO NOT CALL THIS MAN, literally the worst!
