Title: Disappointing Experience at Alpine Motors
Review: On November 16, 2023, I took my 2013 Volkswagen Jetta SE to Alpine Motors in St. John for an inspection, which cost $138. Despite the high price, I decided to proceed, considering the value of my car and the necessity of the inspection. I had already invested significantly in the vehicle, including a $1,000 water pump replacement and a $1,000 radiator repair. Four days later, on November 20, 2023, I returned to Alpine Motors for a series of maintenance tasks, totaling $1,881.21, including rear brake pads and rotors, left rear caliper, right door actuator, left rear wheel bearing, and rear left ABS sensor replacement.
Despite these repairs, I was informed that a radiator support was still needed for the inspection. I agreed to this and opted to replace the radiator as well, incurring an additional cost of $1,585.85. Subsequently, welding work was required on the car, completed in April 2024 for another $1,000.
Each visit for service necessitated time out of my day, highlighting the inconvenience of the process. Despite the significant investment and repairs, when I returned on May 24, 2024, I was met with the rude demeanor of the mechanic, who insisted on additional work, including new front brakes, fixing the CV boots, and addressing issues with the driver's door. This was surprising, particularly given the lack of previous mention of these issues and the recent passing of the inspection.
Furthermore, the mechanic's attempt to insinuate negligence on my part, implying that I sought to bypass necessary considerations for an MVI sticker, was both insulting and baseless. It was evident that the technician was attempting to put words in my mouth, a behavior unbecoming of a professional establishment.
Additionally, I found Alpine Motors to be disorganized, with poor communication, a sentiment shared by many others. Despite attempts to communicate via email, clarity and organization were lacking.
Despite my willingness to pay for services, evidenced by my offer to cover the brief inspection out of courtesy, the dismissive attitude from both the mechanic and the secretary, Chloe, was unacceptable. Their behavior led me to promptly demand my papers and keys, indicating my unwillingness to tolerate such treatment after significant investment in their services.
Moreover, I noted a concerning incident of the presence of intoxicants accompanied by its distinct odor during a previous visit, suggesting a lack of professionalism within the establishment.
Ultimately, my disappointment with Alpine Motors led me to seek services elsewhere. I cannot recommend their services to others, given the lack of professionalism, disrespectful treatment, and apparent disregard for customer satisfaction. My intention in sharing this experience is to provide insight for others navigating similar interactions with service providers. You be the judge... read more
