He brought the gear, snacks, lunch and a plan! He's incredibly knowledgeable about the outdoors and we loved learning from him about the area, plants and wildlife. We can't wait to go out with him again and try paddle boarding. (He might even convert us to try rock climbing). Can't say enough great things about Colin. As a family who are new to the area - we learned a ton and can't wait to send our friends and family out with Meraki also!

The setting was lovely, the horses were well-trained, and our guide was informative and friendly. We called the day before to see if there was availability and spoke with Perry. He was able to put us down for a 2-hour ride and informed us that they haven't received their credit card reader yet, so I made sure to have cash. One thing I forgot, and deeply regret, is to have enough for a tip as well. We arrived at their wonderful property shortly before 4:00. Lynn was there to greet us and had our horses ready to go after the waivers were signed. She got us all on a horse and adjusted the stirrups efficiently. She is a no-nonsense lady and I admire that. She gave us a bit of instruction and then off we went! We rode along the road for a little bit before turning onto some land by a picturesque lake. Lynn's sweet dog tagged along and provided a laugh when she ran and jumped into the lake. Shortly after, we made it onto Nation Forest property. With the exception of the road to and from the main property, Lynn took us on a varied path. We rode on dirt road in the forest, then cut through trees, up hills, across a culvert, up some pipeline area, and into meadows and back to the lake. The views were wonderful and the peace of the whole ride spectacular. There was one area of trees that felt particularly peaceful and Lynn turned back to tell me how she loved riding through them just as I was feeling the same. It was my favorite part, as if there was a special energy in that spot. Overall, we had a wonderful ride. Getting off the horse after 2 hours was the hard part; I definitely felt like I was walking like a cowboy. :-) It was a highlight of our trip. Someday, we would like to come back and do a breakfast or dinner ride.

He's involved in a lot of local parts of Durango life and so the bike ride is more than just a bike ride -- you get lots of information on the history of the town and current events/interests. I only meant to start out with a 2-hour tour but enjoyed the challenge so much that we went for an extra hour and it was a great personalized tour. We did just over 17 miles and I plan to come back at some point, hopefully for snowboarding lessons too.

The booking process was easy and update emails were sent prior to the start informing us of who our guide would be and where to meet him. Your guide (sherpa extrodonair) Glen Shoemaker was phenomenal and made sure that we knew where we were going each morning by doing a route review for us. He selected prime camping locations and had all our gear out of the trailer and ready for us to set up when we arrived. The tour provided amenities were set up and waiting for use, including a cleaned and stocked fire pit. Trailer and tent placement were carefully selected to maximize protection from prevailing winds and the intense sun. Overall this was an excellent experience! Matt, Glen deserves a raise! ;-)

Would I ride the trail again yes, Make sure you have a map and GPS . With Hermosa Tours NO! The campsites were fine no issues, and the waste management was no issue. Then why 2 stars ? Contacting Matt , has been less the desirable. I was leaving country for 2 weeks before the ride and returning with 5 days to prep. So I called a couple times before I received a return call with questions on the meeting ,location and parking - I was told don't worry about it -read your packet when you receive it. We ask Matt to cater , charge $280.00 per person -Not a great cook -And we still have a food bill to pay . I have done other self supported rides were the food was included in the price , some cook for you some you cook your own . Charges a lot and does not include food . But he takes part in eating food we paid for . We brought beer and offered it to the guides , But when I drank 1 of theirs I heard about for 2 days , My ice box , I paid the food bill , you ate the food -Get Over It ! Our mistake ! Matt would give a briefing about the ride every morning , not very accurate. I wounder if he really rode the trail. When we had some maintenance issues with the bikes , He did not step forward and offer any help . The other guide Roger jumped in - Great Job. Matt seem to be irritated when questions were ask in reference to the trail , his answers left us questioning his knowledge of the ride . What I have learn from this if the guide service seems flaky or they seem more interested in the greenback . Then in quality of the customer service and customer experience , Lesson learned .

The land was so extraordinary, the food was better than some 5 star restaurants we've been to, and the staff were down to earth and friendly. The owner of the ranch ate with us at almost all of our meals! Granted, we came during the pre-season so there weren't as many guests as usual, all the same, it was a real treat. Our cabin was so sweet and comfortable! It has everything you need, but not so much that you lose the ranch feel that you came for. We went on a full-day ride up a mountain, the views were as breathtaking as you you would expect, if not more so! The horses were very tame and well behaved. The wranglers were accommodating. We had a special day with the utility-man and his son, fly fishing. They have stocked ponds on the grounds full of huge trout that they are happy to cook up for you if you want! OH and I couldn't write a review of tho place without mentioning the humming birds! They have several feeders out on the porch and there at least a hundred (it would seem) Humming birds zooming by! They are so sweet and not a nuisance by any means... We thought they were so cool!! This place also offers mountain biking and other mountain activities in addition to horse back riding! We will be back! This place is worth every penny and every minute it takes you to get there! GO!

The staff at WTR is attentive and made me feel like I was part of the family. I went on an…read more'adults only' week and although I hadn't ridden in years, the wranglers perfectly matched me with a horse and my skills soared under their guidance. The riding started with scenic walks but progressed (based on everyone's ability) to challenging rides up to a 10k ft peak. The food was fantastic, not 'fussy' but delicious. hearty and plentiful. The cabins were as expected, although the bed was really firm. The shower was powerful and hot and perfect to come back to at the end of a 6 hour ride. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper because the squirrels party all night long. No TV's, internet or phone service in the cabins but you can use wi-fi in the main ranch house. My only phone signal for the week was at the top of a mountain. Then again, I took the trip to escape it all. At WTR, I learned to ride with confidence, rope, sort cattle and more. I also made some international friendships (the American West and cowboy culture is well marketed overseas). This vacation fulfilled my cowgirl dreams and the one thing I didn't expect... to leave the ranch in tears. Best vacation I've ever taken!

We stayed at the Oasis RV Resort and Cottages in Durango during a trip through Colorado in Sept of…read more2024. Our 43 foot coach had difficulty leveling on the steep rock/dirt site they gave us and when we were ready to leave, the staff would not let us choose a path out that would keep the coach out of the trees. Instead they routed us around the edge of the property through treed canopies that our 13'4 clearance could not get through and caused a series of scratches down the top of the front cap and sides of the coach. The park was super tight for larger rigs. We would not recommend putting a larger bus on this campground.

We tried to camp here but it was a no. It was 47$ I think to have a tent spot. I've we got to it…read morespot it was so very tiny and completely rocked! We couldn't even get the tent in the ground, then our tent broke. The lady was really nice and refunded our money. There was alot of nice things to do there for fun but it wasn't nice to camp at:( maybe they'll get rid of the rocks and put dirt on the tent spots to help campers!
