I mean just close your eyes and point! Quality, Consistancy, and Excellent Service. Why would you go anywhere else? The texture on that roll is something else, atop in in Wed as they get these bavarian pretzels i like to toast up and dip in nacho cheese. Crusty and soft at the same time!! Oh my, what a great deli store! Alpine Deli makes some incredible sandwiches. Went with my wife and sister after a meeting and all three of us were quite impressed. I had the best liverwurst sandwich of my life, and trust me, I've had more than a few. The rye bread was perfect, just the right veggies, and several layers of perfection they refer to as liverwurst. The wife had corned beef and pastrami on rye and it was piled high, I know she liked it as it was soon history. My sister had turkey and bacon on sourdough and was equally pleased. Top scores to Alpine Deli for quality, taste, service and selection. The stocked items in the store are many. Beer, wine, chocolates, baked goods, canned specialty foods, one great selection of wonderful items. The store was neat as a pin and has a few tables outside. I would give this place overall 3.5 stars if I could vote that! The vibe of the place was such an old school deli shop which was cool with lots of German chocolates beers etc. and the person serving was a nice older Armenian gentleman! So an overall 4 on that front! However as vegetarian options go it's limited and tastes pretty okay, so a 3 score on that. Keep in mind I bet it tastes yummy for meat options since that's what the reviews say, I just wouldn't know. Also I've attached updated prices! The sandwiches were a bit smaller than I anticipated and the prices were higher than I saw on older Yelp menu photos. However they did use fresh ingredients which was nice! read more

I used to regularly come here for my sandwich fix when I lived in T.O. But since moving to Ventura, I hadn't been back. Was so happy to be in the area today when they were open. I got my favorite sandwich, which they now call "Vicken's Super Club" aka roast beef, cheddar, avocado. I always get it on a croissant as well. $15 out the door with the .75 cent upgrade for the croissant. A little on the pricier side but with how good it is, it is worth it. Everything was as fresh and delicious as I remember and they were generous with the avocado - truly cannot think of a single thing that would have improved it. I so wish I lived closer so I could enjoy this sandwich more often! The owner, as always, is very friendly and welcoming. So many cool imported european products to look at, mostly sweets and chocolates. Big selection of chips too to go with your sandwich. I really like this place, I know it's been here a long time, but it's one of those local places I overlooked until one day I decided I was just craving a solid and straight forward sandwich which is surprisingly hard to find out here. The individual who manages the deli is very nice. This time I got the NY deli special sandwich which includes pastrami on the and I had everything on it. The pastrami is really good quality and we've found that each time we've visited the quality of the food is always better than you'd expect from a small deli. They also have various items and drink options you can try. I do think it's cash only, so grab a good amount of cash. A half sandwich is probably about $10 and a full sandwich is about $15 depending on what you get. Definitely a nice place to grab a sandwich for lunch or to bring on a picnic. read more

This place is pretty unassuming and tucked into a strip mall. When you walk in you'll see a selection of various goods from the alpine region like desserts, beers, and dry goods. There are also a few small tables right at the entrance and then at the back is the counter to order. We've been here twice and honestly after the first time we knew this was gonna be our go to sandwich spot. The older gentleman taking our order is super friendly and offers his recommendation. This is one of the spots I like to go to when I'm visiting my family in TO. They're so friendly there and the sandwiches are the best! I always get the turkey on sliced sourdough w/ everything. I like the shredded lettuce and fresh veggies they use. The little grocery store is cool too if you're looking for specialty German items. The price is also really reasonable for the size and quality which is unheard of these days. I got 3 full sandwiches, 3 sodas, and 2 sides for about $50. read more

I bought their German Butter Cheese to go, because that cheese is exactly how it sounds, creamy, buttery and hard to find. Also got some German chocolates that are also hard to find, and some anchovy paste for cooking purposes. Their prices seem quite reasonable. The most astounding thing is the AMOUNT of imported stock in that little place! TONS of German delicacies, plus Italian imported items and other imported European treasures. Trying to support a local business during COVID. Wish I had chosen another restaurant because the owner and food preparation person do not wear masks. And the owner treated me to a little speech about how the COVID virus is so overblown. The only other customer and I were wearing masks. My experience was not pleasant. Let's start with the food: My sandwich was flavorless and my macaroni was disgusting--I could barely stomach it, and it left an awful aftertaste for hours. The overall dining experience isn't great. It feels like you're eating at a gas station. Finding a dead cockroach under my table exponentially made the experience worse. If there are cockroaches running the small dining area, I don't want to imagine what the kitchen looks like. We visited and we loved the sandwiches, especially the roasted turkey bacon and avocado sandwich and swapped for provolone cheese. How could a sandwich be so good? For so long I've paid the same price at a sandwich shop for sandwiches that aren't even HALF as good as this. We had German potato salad which the owner makes fresh every day. It is vinegar based not mayo-based and no egg like American potato salad, so it is much lighter which I prefer. We got the marinated mushrooms too which were delicious. The owner was very friendly and there are tables to sit at inside. The market portion has such a big variety of interesting imported food and sweets to choose from, it was great! I took lots of photos. You can be adventurous and try things you've never tried before or try imported versions of familiar foods. We tried German poppyseed cake which had a nice delicate flavor and was not overly sweet or rich like some American pastries. I wish we lived closer but we will be back for sure! read more
