They have an above-average selection, comfortable areas to read in, beautiful exterior and interior, helpful librarians, storytime for kids and events for the community that are wholesome unlike so many other libraries. I moved to an area with a much smaller library and ran through their crummy selection in 2 years without even trying, and my college library has unfriendly librarians and a censorship problem plus obscene displays, but this library is all good in my book.

There is a library self-checkout, drive through book drop off, meeting rooms, coffee/snack machine in the lobby, fun kids section and tons of books, audiobooks, DVDs, music - you name it! The whole book search and check-out process has been significantly streamlined and made very efficient. I usually have books from the other Peoria libraries sent to the north branch, and instead of waiting for the librarian to try to find your book, they now have "holds" in a special alcove section, alphabetized by YOUR last name, so that you can quickly find the book yourself, check-out and start the reading fun. The other cool thing about the north branch is that it has a "bookstore," similar to (but not as extensive) as the Lakeview Museum book court. The used books are EXTREMELY cheap, with a range of 20-80 cents a book. Everything is just so new and shiny! Even the seating area reminds me of a collegiate study library. Very nice indeed!

They got rid of the human librarians and replaced them with self-scanners that no one can use (which is why grocery stores are removing them but COP is just now thinking they are new technology). The wait to use one of these scanners is longer than the humans because the patrons can't work them and get a 15 walk-through/training session instead!!! All of the books are now crammed together along the right side of the main room so that the left side can just be hideously painted cinder blocks. PLAIN CONCRETE, no posters, no art, no photographs! It looks like they shoved everything over to paint that wall but forgot to move some books back over. The New Releases and Holds bookcase is set so close to the wall now that two people can't pass by each other while browsing. There is a huge box in the center of the room which must be an information desk although there is no sign indicating this. There are librarians sitting in there although I haven't seen anyone requesting help. What was wrong with having them up front to help check out and letting people ask for help there? Honestly, thank God I have a Kindle.

Out of all…read morethe many frustrations Bradley gave me, nothing was worse than finding out I needed multiple extra thousands of dollars I did not have because the financial office told me I was receiving aid I was not. I consistently had technical issues registering for classes that required multiple meetings with different advisors to resolve. Many classes were offered with only one section and overlapping with times of other classes in my major. Combined with Bradley cancelling classes to save themselves some money it made it difficult to take full time hours unless I was one of the first 20 people to register for a class. Frequently a random fee from something would cause a registration hold, making it far too late to register for these classes even without the technical issues every time. I also consistently had issues receiving credit for classes I completed on my transcript, which caused further technical issues registering for classes and took multiple years of requesting different advisors to fix. Bradley failed to ever actually assign me an advisor after I changed my major at my first semester at the college which was another issue I had to resolve. The video game design program has many nice professors trying their best, but there are a lot of instances in which I felt the program was still being tested and figured out (e.g. board game design class being labeled as writing intensive and just having us write in journals, which was ultimately positive in that I didn't have to take an extra writing intensive class but still odd, or a "Practicum" class in which everyone gets to spend time and money listening to very basic business advice about networking being good and being open to possibilities in your career). I wish I had gone to any other college.

It could be because it's located downtown, but it's just strange for a public library. Maybe if they had security making sure people who park are actual patrons, they could make parking free. Another idea would be to have patrons come in and be given a token to put into the slot for an amount of time they plan to stay. The library has three floors and plenty of room for everyone. I like that it's very roomy. The staff is friendly. Sometimes people do loiter around the entrance which is intimidating. Some homeless people hang out at the tables which is fine because there are enough tables for everyone, just an FYI.

Well the story goes like this. One day I was using the computer and after I got finished using it I found a phone that may have belonged to a younger female who said she had left it behind and forgot it. I walked all around the library hoping I would be able to find who lost their phone but nothing else left to do but leave thinking: "hey! I found me a phone!" Nope, not even close. I ended up catching a bus ride home and even an half hour later that phone rang and it was the female who lost it. So I returned the item and the lady got mad at me and called the cops and it made me get banned from the library forever apparently. But time only tells when you didn't get arrested for 6 straight years being a good citizen and it made me look I was a criminal. It was probably was a phishing scam to get me thrown out Anyways. So to make things short I guess what I'm saying is if you really want a real review then read what I have to say. I don't recommend coming here. There's too much going on with drama.

The library sits on the second floor with lots of windows and natural lighting. Can play video games in the teen section. Clean bathrooms. Friendly staff. Gone are the days of library voices and everyone, including staff staff carry on conversations in their regular voices and there is no inside "library" voices used on the various times I have been there. Director Genna replied to my post on google and I cant reply so I am doing so here. There are quiet/study rooms with doors, but unfortunately its so loud that you can hear everything as if the conversation is happening in the study room. Since when is a library a gathering place for conversation outside of the kids area or behind closed doors. Would not recommend for a quiet place. Staff are almost always the loudest and voices are not even kept softly.
