The boardwalk is being reconstructed at Alona Beach and I laugh at the sign at stated the 'New Whitebeach' in reference to Boracay's White Beach. Sorry Alona you don't come even close to Boracay Whitebeach or their sand boardwalk. Here at Alona the sand is full of broken sea shells especially at the shadow water line. They need to have a sand sweeper here to regularly remove debris from the sand like they do in Botacay. I was staying at Henann Alona resort and they maintained the section of the beach as private with beach chairs you can use, which I didn't see any on the other side of the beach. I would say go to the Ocenana Resort , they take care of the beach there much better at that place and offer beach chairs, drinks and food to eat for a day fee. read more

They only thing that I found cool about this beach was that it was the closest "clean" beach in walking distance from where I was staying. Although, the strip of the beach is very small with restaurants and the sort accommodating most of the beach area. No place to really even rent a chair so bring a beach towel. Then it was hard to really enjoy it because you have people walking around constantly trying to sell you fruit, massages, and the sort. Rent a moto or take a TukTuk to South Palms Resort and thank me later. While yes it's a resort, the beach is public. They don't harass you either about sitting on their chairs. You are encouraged to buy something but it's not obligated. Plus it's quieter compared to Alona Beach. read more

This beach is not worth going halfway around the world for. It is overcrowded with shops and full of people eager to rip you off, selling overpriced tours and pearls. The government should come here and shut it down for a while so they can clean it up. So many boats waiting by the shore trying to get you to pay for an excursion so you can't swim unless you walk to the far right or left. Even the food is overpriced. One stick of pork bbq and rice for 200 pesos. Crazy, definitely a tourist trap. When you come to a beach and there are more people selling something than there are people on vacation, that should be a warning. On the other hand, Dumaluan beach is not very far away, and is a very lovely spot with way less tourist traps. read more

10 years ago this place had crystal clear beaches. Today, the white sand in the water is covered by a thick layer of grease, most likely from the boats. Murky and sad looking. The boats... the boats are scattered every where and makes the place look cheap. People travel from all over the world to see this place, and it has become a disappointment. How are we suppose to take pictures of their beaches and publish it with friends if the background in a boat parking lot? Ugly background right? They should an a designated boat area off to the side or something. The crowd is definitely touristy. Kinda mixed with old white foreigners trying to snag some prostitute on the side. The likes that could get a chance in their own country so they take liberty in raping young 3rd world women. Disgusting if you ask me. The beach is filled with resorts that are providing bare minimum service - except for their WiFi - and charging way over market place. If you wanna come visit a Thailand-like beach with a ton of tourists, here's a place for you. read more

Beach is narrow so it will crowd up fast. Not the cleanest but fills the need. Small places with Juice and booze at many vendors. Three shots with ice n water of black label came up to 500 peso in a restaurant 2nd level viewing of boardwalk. Many Restaurants, full body massage with aroma ( 600 peso - 1000) ,tattoo parlors and of course dive rentals. T shirt vendors are limited. Here you will pay 245 -380 where else at the hinagdanan cave you only pay 100 n up with more designs avail at more vendors. read more

Depends on the season (I suggest May) you will find more or less tourists, it's a good beach (but Boracay is still the best) plenty of great restaurants, beach activities and tours provided, try the Island hopping! read more
