Front Desk: Ariel was immediately friendly and checked us in. The front office space is clean, inviting and smells amazing. Like a spa. I have never walked into a cleaner vet office. Appointment: Dr. Marina and Bri met with us and did a very thorough and honest examination of all of our three pups. We went over a lot of preventative care and I'm so glad we did. We left the with a plan of action for each of their needs catered to them. Overall a 10 out of 10 experience. You can tell Dr. Marina takes pride in the work she does and her and her team LOVE the animals. *PRO* I took my precious pup Bubba to an emergency vet for something completely unrelated and they ended up finding a much more serious situation requiring surgery. They recommended Aloha Veterinary Hospital. I called them the next day explaining the situation and they contacted the emergency hospital I originally went to and reviewed Bubba's X-ray's. They discovered that Bubba needed emergency surgery. They squeezed him into their busy schedule right away. Dr. Marina Yamate is AMAZING! During surgery there were other procedures that needed to be performed and one of the Dr's assistants came out and asked me if that was ok. I REALLY appreciated the communication! Bubba went through the ringer that day and Dr Marina kept Bubba WELL past closing hours to make sure he was ok to go home after surgery. The office closed at 5 p.m. and we didn't even leave until after 8 p.m. !!! The quality of her work is INCREDIBLE! She is an EXTREMELY gifted Veterinarian! When she spoke with me it was with respect and empathy. She CLEARLY loves animals! I've had Bubba almost 2 years now and he's approximately 15 years old. Two weeks after Bubba's surgery he was doing the ZOOMIES! I've never, EVER seen him with the zoomies! He's always been like a chill....LAZY, bloated old man! He' s seriously a new dog with a new lease on life!! The entire staff ( with the exception of 1 person ) was AMAZING! Ariel at the front desk ( I believe that's her name ) is ADORABLE and is EXACTLY who you would want at the forefront of your business! Friendly, professional and hard working!!! On a side note.....the facility is IMMACULATE and BEAUTIFUL! ( I'm a germaphobe if that tells you anything ) They have a complimentary/coffee/soda/water station, a calming aquarium to look at and a nice bathroom. ( Hey it's the little things right?!! ) *CON* There WAS 1 MAJOR issue that happened that I wasn't pleased with. I was given an original estimate for services. THAT amount obviously changed due to Bubba needing other procedures done. I was charged the original amount TWICE and the new amount ONCE. We're talking THOUSANDS of dollars! My bank alerted me. I tried not to freak out, but seriously it wasn't easy! I let the office know and they suggested I contact my bank. So let me get this straight....YOU over charge my bank account and I'm the one that has to fix it?!!! Keep in mind that this is just a couple of days before Thanksgiving!!! If I were to call my bank then they would cancel my card and would have to send me a new one leaving me with no access to my money through the holiday! My bank was showing THREE transactions with my balance going up and up and UP!!! Aloha's system only showed TWO transactions....the original charge and the new charge which still comes out to THOUSANDS of dollars in over charges!!! When I went in to Bubba's 2 week check up appointment I spoke with Bri who apparently is the one that made the error. She gave me a nonchalant,back-handed apology and had the NERVE to suggest my bank was at fault!!! I said that my bank is very good about correcting over charges and that's why the THIRD transaction fell off. Bri then said " Well maybe your bank or card was the problem !!! " ARE YOU FRICKIN SERIOUS?!!! My bank had NOTHING to do with the over charge and if it weren't for the bank warning me in the first place I would have never known that I was being TRIPLE charged and neither would your office! Take responsibility for your own mistakes Bri! And it gets better....... When I first arrived for our appointment I explained to the receptionist that the zipper on Bubba's onesie broke and asked if I could I get a replacement? Ariel was a TOTAL sweetheart and said " Of course as long as you don't mind pink! " I laughed and said " No problem! " Well Ariel went home and I forgot to get the onesie from her. As we were leaving I asked Bri about it and she said that because it had been two weeks that I would have to purchase the replacement onesie and that it would $45!!!! I was FLOORED!!! I know PLENTY of people that would have LOST their minds over their accounts being over charged like mine was and I feel like I was EXTREMELY understanding and calm and now you want to charge me for a new onesie?!!! At the VERY LEAST I feel like I deserve a replacement onesie for my Bubba boy because of Bri's screw up!!! ......SHAME ON YOU BRI!!!! While our dog, Stella, received high-quality emergency care for a serious paw injury, our family will not be returning for ongoing services. Positive Experience- the emergency care. When Stella severely injured her paw after breaking a glass door, we called Aloha Vet as a new patient. Despite being close to closing, they accepted her as an urgent care case. The staff on this day were exceptional, providing immediate pain relief, sedatives, and performing the necessary stitches and aftercare (cone, antibiotics, pain relief, bandages). Reasons for Not Returning (Subsequent Visits): Cost and Financial Transparency: We experienced unexpected costs that could be characterized as "nickel and diming". For example, we were charged $90 for every bandage change. Had we known the frequency and cost of these changes (totaling nearly $500), we would have chosen to replace her bandages at home. Furthermore, we noticed inconsistencies in billing, including an incorrect overcharge that was later corrected, and a missed charge for medication that was later charged. We also felt the clinic did not proactively offer options for filling veterinary prescriptions at outside pharmacies (like Costco) which would have been cost-effective. In fact, at the final appointment I was informed that Costco did not carry their brand of anti-inflammatory medication which led me to ask if there were any alternative anti-inflammatory medicine that Costco did carry that could be substituted. They checked and confirmed that they located one that would work. Professionalism and Communication: While all staff handled Stella with care, I found the communication style to be unprofessional, particularly the use of "infantilizing" language. I can tell you, in my many years of taking animals to the vet, talking calmly to animals does not require surrendering your professionalism. Frankly, as women who have to work twice as hard to get half the respect as men get just for breathing, speaking like that undermines your expertise. No male vet or vet tech has ever spoken to me or my animals like we are in preschool. Loss of Medical Trust: The final decision to leave was driven by conflicting recommendations. I was nervous about the recommendation to remove Stella's bandage to let it "breathe". While I should have done a better job of crating her and making sure her cone stayed on, had her bandages been on, the two times Stella reinjured herself would have been mitigated because the bandages would have resisted the damage. And we probably would have been more willing to keep the bandages on in the first place if we were the ones replacing them and not spending $90 per bandage. On the final visit, Stella had re-injured her paw, and the clinic recommended removing part of her pad, yet another financially stressful cost on top of what we had already spent. Prior to being seen, I told the staff that we would likely not be paying for any further procedures due to financial stress and requested an estimate of all charges prior to any treatment. They did initially provide this invoice and cost of what the treatment options would be, we said no and later took her to another clinic for a second opinion. The final straw was being presented with an unexpected charge for just the consultation, despite our explicit request for an estimate before any care was rendered. They then added further insult to injury by throwing away the bandage Stella had on, giving us a new wrap out of, I guess guilt for throwing away the bandage, and then left the office for me to awkwardly wrap Stella's bandage because we had refused care. Your technician offered to hold Stella when it was obvious I was struggling to keep her still while I re-bandaged her. It was a remarkable display of whiplash- you have been nickel and diming us for weeks and because I finally had the wisdom to ask for financial transparency, NOW you won't assist me in bandaging her? I felt like I was in a farcical play representing the perils of pay to play American veterinary care. A second opinion confirmed that surgery was unnecessary. Stella was healing well, and only continued bandaging and medication were required. This confirmed our suspicion that the recommended surgery was an unnecessary financial burden and we were being taken advantage of. I have speculated that they seem to operate with one of two mindsets. "Do whatever is necessary to take care of your dog, go into any debt necessary to heal your pet" or "All of our clients are fabulously wealthy and can afford whatever treatment we recommend." Both mindsets are stunningly classist and out of touch with average finances in 2026. I trusted this clinic and staff with my dog's recovery which they did initially, and then felt taken advantage of. The cumulative issues surrounding financial transparency, poor communication, and treatment recommendations that did not warrant additional surgery mean we cannot recommend this business. read more

Took my dog Leo in for an ultrasound it was my first time at aloha and they were able to see me sooner than anyone else, I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the hospital itself was and the staff was exceptionally friendly to my pup. The doctor gave a lot of insight into what was going on with my dog and was very thorough in her explanation of test results. I purchased my first puppy in November of 2023 and Aloha Vetrenary hospital has been his vet since that time. I took him for his very last visit last week as I just needed his 1 year vaccinations before his neuter appointment (elsewhere). Don't get me wrong, The staff here is nice and courteous but there are other reasons I will no longer award Aloha with my business. I've come to learn that some vets take advantage of first time pet owners by convincing them that they need every pricy product and service they offer. At Aloha If you appear to them as a 1st time pet owner shocked by the prices, they immediately make a push for pet insurance. But like a good mechanic, what you really need is honesty, not insurance. Every appointment at Aloha has cost me approximately $200 (give or take) each time I visited. As a new pet owner I didn't know quite what I needed and was not aware that some vets offer vaccine packages (or a puppy series) for around $160 in total. I ended up paying through the nose for each vaccine, recommended products and "exams" my puppy received at Aloha. I have since discovered that the flu vaccine Aloha talked me into ($45?!?!) is not part of the puppy series and not one dog owner I have spoken with has ever heard of a flu vaccine for dogs so needless to say, their dog has never received one. I'm not questioning the health benefits of a flu vaccine, just the necessity of getting one. After every appointment I started feeling more and more scammed. One appointment, they offered to cut my dog's nails, I thought, why not? $30 to cut my dogs nails is why not! That service took less than 30 seconds. The groomer does it for half the cost and for good reason, it's not worth $30! Each appointment will cost you a $65 base price. This is for some sort of exam/Consultation which lasts all of about 2 minutes. What did I learn from this consultation? Not much of anything. And why does my puppy need an exam during every single vaccine appointment? Most of the questions you have during this exam/consult can be found just by performing a quick Google search. The big discussion came when my puppy was approaching 6 months and the topic of neutering began. I was quoted $850 to neuter my male puppy who weighed less than 20lbs. I felt this was absolutely outrageous and the main reason I waited until he was more than a year old to get this done. Just before his neuter appointment I brought him back in to Aloha for his 1 year vaccines. I mentioned to the vet that he is getting neutered at the end of the week, she seemed surprised and asked where I was taking him as she knew he did not have an appointment with her. When I answered her question, she acted pretty annoyed at my response and said that the clinic would need a pre-surgery blood panel. I politely declined on her offer to complete the panel. I was pretty sure that blood test she wanted to give would cost more than I paid for of my dog himself. My original request when I made my appointment was for the 3 necessary vaccines needed before neutering. It was a good thing I asked the technician which vaccines she was prepping before they took him into the back room to administer the injections because low and behold, they had added on the flu vaccine. I told her he doesn't need a flu shot and she said "Oh ok, that is the most expensive one." Not sure why she mentioned the expense but it was really unnerving at this point. I ended up getting my pup neutered at the Humane Society. It was definitely a no frills environment but the place was clean and the staff was fantastic! Blood work, post surgery monitoring, extra post surgery medication, cone, & microchip cost me $381 which was very reasonable. My pup didn't need any fancy spa experience, he just needed to be fixed and the Humane Society did an amazing job and with the internal stitching, he doesn't need to go back to get his stitches removed which is also a cost saver! I think the exhorbidant cost of Aloha's products and services is due to high rent for their prime location in downtown Brea. I have no doubt that the staff here cares about their furry patients but it's all overshadowed by their pricy and pushy business practices. If money is no object and you are a fan of buying things you don't necessarily need, give them a shot. I have received several recommendations for reasonably priced veterinary services in my area and will be choosing one of them for my pups next healthcare need. read more

First timer. I'm very paranoid about taking my cat to vets because I had a terrible experience in the past (5years ago) where one Vet in Pico Rivera caused me to lose my first kitty boy Luke . But my boyfriend recently got me a Kitty for Christmas and she is such the cutest thing. Fast forward 4.5 months later she seems abit sick, and once again I'm faced with my paranoia of vets. But I gave this place a chance after reading multiple reviews from multiple vets and decided to go here to help my kitty girl. They were very friendly, warm and kind from beginning to end. And I felt they (Marina and Phoebe) genuinely loved interacting with my kitty, and I'm sure it put my kitty girl more at ease hearing the comforting voices. A couple of the reviews here say it seemed scammy caused they pushed products, but in my opinion, I feel like they were just educating and getting the information out there needed in case it was something I didn't know. They allowed me to chose which services I wanted to get and emailed me the other services I didn't take at the time so I can read up and make the best decisions with my boyfriend. Finally changed my dog's vet after 10 years. I tolerated staff changes in the last couple of years at the former vet's office to the point where I found myself avoiding taking my dog in, and am so glad I found Aloha Vet. Fear-free clinic with incredibly understanding staff and Veterinarians. My sweet old dog is so much calmer here than she was before. At the previous vet's office, she would fight exams, even on sedatives, and was always taken to the back office away from me where they would examine her. At Aloha Vet, she still needs meds because she's a nervous nellie, but they let me stay with her, she lets them examine her and it's just such a welcome change, especially at this stage of her life. No muzzle needed for a vaccination and temp check, which is nothing short of incredible for my dog! Love this place and can't recommend it enough. read more

We used to go to another vet closer to us but they were terrible and just didn't care, but at Aloha, my cat Simba (who used to be terrified at the old vet) was out of his carrier and letting the staff pet him. Aloha Vet Hospital is one of the most caring vet clinics I have ever been to! The entire staff is so polite and takes the time to listen to your concerns regarding your pet. From the moment you enter this establishment, you and your pet feel a sense of calmness and peace. I love that they have a separate wait area for dogs and cats. Other vet clinics I have entered have all the animals in the same area and it just causes such anxiousness. I am told Aloha even has separate central air units so the dogs and cats are not bothered by the scent of each other . As for Dr. Marina Yamate, man oh man, what can I say about her. She is so knowledgeable and caring and takes her time to listen and address every single one of your concerns. Here's an honest review. I came in because i adopted a dog and wanted to get my other dog update on his shots. First initial thought it's a clean place and seemed very nice. Initially the vet was very kind and seemed nice. I was bombarded with pamphlets and fear mongered about all these problems my dog may have in the future. Was trying to be sold on dog food and all sorts of products. Felt like i was at a time share meeting. After all the examinations and everything the assistant gave me a laundry list of things they were trying to charge me for i was confused and just asked her please charge me for what you think is needed. Paid 1k for 2 dogs for a check up for some flea tick meds and shots. Crazy beware this vet seems like its for your money not the care of your pets. Definitely will be my first and last visit. I brought my new puppy in today, and I could not have been more pleased. Beautiful location, every staff member could not have been nicer, and the Doctor was amazing! I had read a few reviews talking about it being pricey, or felt like they were pushing too many services, so I was slightly nervous. However, my experience was far from that. The impression I got was that they truly just want to be full service and offer the best care to the animals. At no point did I feel pressured, and thought the bill was completely fair, and not any more than other vets. Visited location yesterday for the first time and I'm so glad I did, I have found my new Vet it was a last-minute appointment for my cat and they were able to accommodate, which was really appreciated!! The vet was very thorough and knowledgeable. Explained my options and administered treatment that was agreed upon. She was even kind enough to answer a couple of questions from a phone call later in the afternoon. . All at the clinic were caring and welcoming not to mention the clinic itself, which was clean, calming and beautifully decorated! They even have separate rooms for cats and dogs. This was my second time here. The first visit went great. I have a highly fearful and anxious dog & they sold me on how "compassionate" & "fear free" they were. I brought in my 14 year old dog for her monthly routine care along with new age related health issues. We discussed a treatment plan that, although expensive, I agreed to. As the dr discussed putting my dog on anti anxiety meds, I felt a little mocked by her when I mentioned my own anxiety disorder. With a big smile, she responds, "Oh, so you're familiar with mental illness." The rest of the treatment plan was to sedate her for the exam, x-rays, etc. They explained that the sedation wore off in 45 min & everything would be done during that time, and I'd need to leave her there a little afterward to make sure she was doing well. I was ok with that. My appointment was at 10am and was told to pick her up after 3pm. For a 45 min procedure that made absolutely no sense to me, nor was I comfortable with that. They said they had a surgery scheduled, so they'd get to her in a few hours. I explained that I'd rather bring her back later that day (even though I live an hour away) because I DID NOT want her to sit in a cage all day. Not only is she in pain, confused with early signs of dementia, losing her vision & hearing, anxious and fearful, but I also explained that because I myself suffer from an anxiety disorder, I did not want to put my dog or myself through the mental anguish. I was then assured by the tech that I could go ahead and leave her, and they'd get started. I agreed. An hour and 45 min later, at 12:30 pm, I received a text message with a picture of my dog letting me know she is resting comfortably and doing well. That led me to believe the exam/procedures were completed successfully and was being monitored post anesthesia. I didn't get any updates after that, so I drove to the office after 2pm to check on my dog because, naturally, i was worried, and my anxiety was starting to run high. When I got there, I was asked to come back in 3 hours because NOTHING had been done yet!! Communication goes a long way. There was no need to lie to me or provide me with a false update. Like I mentioned to them more than once, i had no problem returning for the procedure so long as she did not have to sit in a cage for hours. I left the office in tears and on the verge of a panic attack. I couldn't even drive myself home from how emotionally and physically sick i felt after leaving the vets office. They still had the nerve to charge me for her office visit. Fear free is not their specialty. My senior dog sat fearful and confused in a cage all day without going potty or given any water. She went potty as soon as we stepped out of the office and drank half a bottled water in the parking lot. Your pet is just a dollar sign to them. I will not be returning ever again or further recommending this place to anyone else. read more

We were out on vacation when our dog (Clover) started getting really sick. We had to rush her to an over night Emergency vet, and they referred us to Aloha for day time treatment. Dr. Yamate immediately took us in. We walked in and were immediately greeted by her friendly staff. The hospital is very clean and smells good. You just get a sense of calmness as soon as you walk in, kind of like going to a nice spa. She offers her guests water, coffee, and sodas while you wait. We didn't feel like we were at a veterinary hospital, it was so nice! Dr Yamate is absolutely so nice and so smart. She checked Clover and went over all of the treatment that was needed for her. She listens to your questions and concerns and just makes you feel better about what's going on. Clover had to be hospitalized for 2 days there and then just a quick visit on the third day. I've never taken her to a hospital before where she wagged her tail going in!! All of the staff communicated texted me updates and pics during her stay. They truly made me feel like they cared about her! If I lived in the area, I would swap all of my pets immediately to Aloha. They have set the bar so high! I would give them 10 stars if I could! It is the best vet clinic, and we feel very lucky to have Marina as our vet. The whole staff is so caring, understanding and compassionate. Went to a different vet since my primary vet wasn't available today. What I like about this vet: based on the first impression 1. Cool/nice decor - fish tank 2. Very clean and well managed front and in the doggie patient room 3. They give your pet this calming pheromone infused bandana - fear free facility perks! 4. I really like that I can go to the back / or into the room with my dog. I can see what they do to my dog. My primary vet doesn't allow the pet owners to go inside with the pet and have to wait at the front. 5. Very transparent about the cost. The doctor/vet recommended me a lot of products but wasn't pushing to sell me the items. But she provided her reasons / rationale and why it would benefit + potential risks. And she would leave you with the vet tech/nurse to decide what I want to pay for. No pressure whatsoever. 6. Staff were very friendly and approachable. They were easy to talk to. 7. Got a last minute booking for the day - was very accommodating and even called me back to let me know that there was an availability (my primary vet never even bothered to call me back to let me know there's no opening at all today even though they said they would be call me back within few hours ). My dog was vomiting and not eating for three days, and she news exactly what to do. She presented us with options, our Charlie went into survey that evening and is now recovered. TLDR: Come to this vet, it's an amazing experience and they genuinely care about your animals and their experience. I came to Aloha because our cat wasn't eating and was lethargic after the loss of our kitten. Our cat absolutely hates the vet and it was quite amazing to see the length they went to not stress him out and keep him comfortable between offering him treats and offering to administer a dose of sedative to draw blood without potentially hurting him as he was fussy. It was refreshing to be able to talk to the doctor for more than a few minutes. I told the vet I was sensitive to cost and they offered me three different treatment routes and explained the pros and cons of everything. I had the blood sent out to a lab and when his blood results came in and I had questions, the vet called me to discuss his results and interpret it all for me and was extremely reassuring. I followed up a week after my visit to express my concern about his weight loss and I was able to get medicine to help him eat without them forcing me to schedule another visit. I greatly appreciated this as my last vet made me schedule a follow up exam for 40$ for any update or further medication which makes the cost rise rapidly. read more

Great first visit for my puppy! Dr. Yamate and staff were excellent with my dog. The entire facility is high tech and is not only beautiful but takes into account the animals. My dog got bit by a baby rattlesnake on Monday. I called immediately and I was amazed how they rallied the troops and had the staff immediately ready for me and Blu. The team has dealt with this before, and they did an absolutely epic job. Seeing all the staff trying to save Blu's life was beyond humbling and amazing. Blu is doing great! I am so incredibly grateful that I found Dr. Marina and Aloha Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Marina is already has a wealth of knowledge but continues to stay on top of the newest treatments and medications. Exceptional first time visit. Staff so caring, and present when interviewing us regarding dog's health, and our concerns. Most importantly, Trooper was calm, relaxed, and even ate treats offered. Normally, he is looking for the exit, stressed out, and heart pounding out of his chest. We would highly recommend Aloha Vet Hospital. Aloha Veterinary has been nothing short of wonderful in all of our visits with our dogs. Dr. Yamate and her wonderful staff are always friendly, helpful, and compassionate with our animals, and all of our needs and concerns. Recently we just had our two puppies spayed with the minimally invasive Laparoscopy surgeries. What a difference this surgery was compared to the regular spay surgeries we have put our older dogs through! Our puppies basically had no downtime. They were supposed to rest, but they were feeling great and wanted to play the very next day after the procedure! We highly recommend the LOVE SPAY (Laparoscopic OVE technique) and Dr. Marina Yamate to everyone and all of your fur babies!! She will definitely take care of all of our animals from now on. If you're on the fence about a new vet, especially for your shy kitty/dog, this is your place! Let me start off by saying this office makes you feel SO safe and taken care of. A huge shout out to Kirsten and Marina for their outstanding care, compassion, and LOVE they showed me and my boy. I have a cat who is 16 years old so he is understandably a grumpy and shy boy who hates the vet. He got sick with an infection and the 2 different vet hospitals we went to for it were not very helpful and although one sent us with antibiotics, the second was just so unwelcoming and rude. He was not improving with antibiotics so we made an appointment with Aloha. Once we showed up, Kirsten took us in and fearlessly showed my boy some love, despite him being very shy and hissing at her a couple times. I could tell the difference in his demeanor, as he was much calmer this time around. After some sedation, bloodwork, and X-rays, we were so relieved to find out that it seems to be a persistent infection that needed some more heavy duty medicine to treat. A huge THANK YOU to Aloha for not only calming the nerves of my baby boy, but myself and my partner who were worried sick for him. This is a vet that you can really tell the people who work here not only love what they do, but they are most of all EMPATHETIC and personable. I joked that I was jealous of my dog the first time I arrived because it felt like a spa - a place I would want to personally go to and relax and recuperate. And really it is - for the both of us.
