I can't comment on the food as the restaurant was empty on a Saturday afternoon in a very busy area, and I certainly was not about to get experimental. I can only comment on the "baggage storage service". NIGHTMARE. Aloha is conveniently located across the street from the cruise ship terminal, so upon debarkation we stored our bags there for $3 per bag. Unbeknownst to us, my senior citizen mother-in-law (MIL), at the last minute, placed her reusable shopping bag on top of her suitcase. Although the bag was small, and wrapped around her suitcase, she was supposed to pay an additional $3 for that bag, which she would have, had she known. After returning for the suitcases, my husband loaded everyone's suitcases into the taxi and we headed to the airport. Once we got there my elderly MIL realized she didn't have her bag. Certain that she left it at Aloha I called to confirm. The owner (I'm assuming) said that there was no bag there that fit the description I gave him. He said there are some bags that weren't paid for, but none like what I described. I asked him to please check again because I can't imagine where else it would be. Then he confirmed that it was indeed there and that it would cost $5. The $5 didn't bother me, but the deceit behind it did. It was at that moment that I realized he saw what my MIL did and instead of informing her that she had to pay for that bag as well, he took her bag and hid it. Honestly, I was tempted to tell her that she's out of luck and that whatever was in that bag is now gone, but then what kind of daughter-in-law would I be? So we went back for it. Two side notes: 1. We had children's floatation devices that couldn't fit in our suitcase and though we could have given it to anyone, we gave it to the owner, just cause. And 2. We bought two overpriced bottles of water when we picked up our suitcases. I mention those things to demonstrate that no one was trying to scam him, and he had ample opportunities to inform my MIL that she'd have to pay for the additional bag, or even that she now had to pay $5 for the bag that she left. But to hide the bag, lie about its whereabouts, and then $42 later (taxi roundtrip from the airport) tell us that he's not giving us the bag unless we give him $5... Needless to say I gave him a piece of my mind at which point he claimed to call the police. Of course that too was a lie, I waited, they never came. He excused himself leaving a female in the store to fend for herself against my wrath. And since they had no customers, I figured they needed that extra $2 more than I did, so I gave them the $5 and we left with my MIL's bag that still had all of her belongings in it, thankfully, but in retrospect there wasn't anything in there of any real value. Bottom line, it's already a little difficult to leave your bags behind and trust that everything will still be there when you return, but leaving it in the hands of someone who is deceitful is just not worth it. Apparently, there are other restaurants in San Juan that offer the same service. Not worth the risk to leave it here. read more
