    Beautiful day for a lesson
    Noelle S.

It's been over 3 months of lessons and it's been such a learning experience for both me and my daughter! Kim and her team have been nothing short of amazing I still can't believe they were able to get my daughter to willingly muck stalls! My daughters loves spending time after her lessons to hangout with the older kids where they continue to keep her engaged. I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful program and can't wait to continue this journey with my daughter.

My daughter and I have been taking lessons at Aloha Riding with Kim and her trainers for over a year. Kim has helped me fulfill my childhood dream of being a "horse girl". Starting as a beginner with no more than my love for horses (always from a distance) this year has taught me so much about horsemanship. Kim prides herself in educating her students not just in the techniques of riding but the holistic understanding and appreciation of horses. Kim's decades of experience and her deep love and respect for horses is obvious in how she teaches. A crucial part of this is bonding with these highly intelligent animals. Will you riding every single lesson? No. Will you become a better and more confident rider than you would at most other facilities? Absolutely. Kim covers every aspect of horsemanship from grooming and tacking to equine health and boarding. This includes cleaning stalls, learning about feeding habits, bathing the horses, liberty work, all of which have benefitted my skills on the horse. I liken it to learning a new language. You wouldn't attempt to converse with native speaker after picking up just a few phrases. Similarly with riding, Kim has helped me grow my confidence by laying a solid foundation and using the right building blocks for me to become a fluent rider. If you want to jump on a horse and basically do an arena trail ride every time, go elsewhere. If you want to master true horsemanship and experience the privilege of having these animals be a part of your life, Aloha Riding is it.

Aloha Riding lesson is a wonderful & happy environment. I have done 2 lessons so far & can't wait to keep going back to continue refreshing my memory / learning new things to better my horsemanship. Totally recommend Aloha Riding to anyone & everyone from first time riders to more experienced riders! -Hannah :)

Kim spamming my email the day I posted a negative review...

Update after receiving multiple replies from Ms.Kim.... *** Kim edited her reply after I pointed out false information in which she claimed she offered "my girls" discounted summer camps, that she didn't know we were unhappy as we left very happy, and that we continued lessons with her. Her new edit contains more untruths. My son NEVER hit a horse, my son NEVER was made to sit out of a lesson, his lessons were never discontinued due to any "animal abuse" or "horse hitting". NEVER HAPPENED, EVER. I never discontinued one child and continued the other - as the review states, the last time we were there was for 2 children, 2 lessons. The entire reason we chose not to continue at Aloha Riding was because Kim LIED TO ME and ignored the screenshot evidence. And apparently the lying continues unchecked. Appalling. **** Kim, I have no idea what you're talking about. I never discussed summer camp with you, I never would have said that it was too expensive, and you never offered us any sort of "scholarship". My children never had another lesson after the missed lesson I detailed. You were definitely aware of why I was upset and most definitely would not refund my money; as I said in the review, you clearly stated you would not. And I don't even have "girls"; I have one girl and one boy. You must have us confused with some other unhappy customer. Feel free to go back and review our emails to refresh your memory; you hit me with like, 10 emails between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm the day I published the review so I see that you still have it.... *** Kim, I hope you can take a negative review as a learning and growing experience and make improvements in your future business practice. My children were saddened to learn of the death of their favorite horse, Koa. I wish your current horses good health and you positive energy.

My 10 year old son takes a weekly lesson. It's been amazing. Prior to Aloha he went to another place in Waimanalo and took lessons. We left there for so many reasons. All of which were not positive and I won't go into them here. However, Aloha is great! They love the kids here. They are friendly. They answer all our questions and they teach the kids how to groom, tac, saddle, walk the horses. Clean the stalls. So many things as well as riding. Our son loves it here. I'm so happy we switched. It's been like night and day compared to the other place. And Kim is knowledgeable and genuinely cares about the rider and her horses. All the trainers are patient and are not volunteers. They are paid employees who are skilled. It's wonderful. And they have a place for the parent to sit and watch comfortably. We love it.

Kim is a great riding instructor. Not only does she teach both our daughters how to ride (Western or English), but she makes sure they learn how to groom, put on the tack and saddle before getting on the horse. This is so important, because knowing how to handle a horse is just a critical as learning how to ride one. Plus, she is a huge advocate for safety. She makes sure all riders wear their helmet and that the helmet fits correctly, or they don't ride. I highly recommend Aloha Riding Lessons.

I looked into a few options and called around. Koko Crater was the first to return my call (almost immediately on a Saturday night) and the owner was friendly, organized and able to get us into a lesson the next day. Given the response and the distance, which was closer to our house than lessons in Waimanalo, we signed up (despite the fact they were more expensive). The instructor Pete is a gifted teacher. He's got an easygoing way about him that makes a ring full of young girls pay attention, despite each being at different ability levels. He knows his stuff, always has encouraging words and confident instruction, and is equally kind to people AND the animals. After only a couple lessons, my daughter was riding independently and gets better every week. And unlike all the other lessons I've put her in over the years, my daughter is as interested as ever and looks forward to coming each time. It's definitely the priciest activity we've ever done, but I couldn't imagine a better learning experience or opportunity. I highly recommend them!

The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and there's even a chance you'll stumble upon a movie being filmed, which adds a little extra excitement to the day. This time around, we did the e-bike tour (novice level). Even though it's labeled beginner-friendly, I'd say it can still be a bit of a workout. I consider myself pretty athletic, and there were definitely moments where I had to push myself. That said, it just made the experience more rewarding. They do have you complete a practice run beforehand to make sure you're comfortable handling the bikes, which is reassuring. Our tour guide was fantastic and really made the experience enjoyable. As a bonus, we even got to catch a glimpse of the next Jumanji movie being filmed, which was such a cool surprise. We can't say enough good things about Kualoa Ranch. It's one of those places that keeps you coming back, and it absolutely deserves a spot on your Oahu itinerary.

So...we had to WAIT until the group was finished to get the balls to play.... On top of that, I paid $10 per person to play, and the guy in the hut tells me there's only 6 or 7 holes available since they use the course to pop fireworks off of. New years was about a week ago!! You're telling me, you're too lazy to put back the holes for a whole week?! Cmon man..... Then, I ask for a cart to put all our stuff in and he tells me that they don't rent out carts but that I could get one at the golf hut. Prior to booking the specific tour I had questions which were answered quickly upon emailing. We arranged to meet at a soot in Waikiki (hey shoppers pick a meetup at A La Moana so you can shop after your tour). We headed down the ramp and wondered how we would find him but it was pretty easy with a license plate that said Lost on a grey Dharma van! First, I had absolutely no idea that the tour would be conducted by an actor from the show! Greg was in several scenes filmed in HI for Lost and greeted us with a smile & promise of visiting many Lost sites. I won't list all the sites as they may be different for your tour, we wanted ours specifically focused on Lost. I am a huge Lost fan, my husband and teenager were ambivalent. Greg had tons of trivia which we were terrible at but it made it so much fun for all of us. I loved that the tour wasn't rushed, I was able to spend as much time at the beach and the temple as I wanted to reflect on how much the show meant to me. They were both emotional moments and I really appreciate being able to absorb the reality of being there. While I loved every site that we saw (penny's boat!) those two were the highlights for me. I binged Lost on hulu last year and was grateful that for every site we stopped at Greg had pictures of the scene on his iPad to remind us of what occurred there. He gave a very detailed explanation and we had discussions where appropriate. Don't forget, he was an actor in the show so he had a lot of personal input which I loved! My teen said that was his favorite part. Greg and this tour company are unique, there was no attempt to upsell or bring their own camera to sell us pictures afterwards. At every site Greg asked if I wanted a picture and even had some special magic shots for certain sites! I can't tell you or it would be a spoiler for your experience. Greg I still want tshirts when you create them! He even has a custom made CD of his favorite Lost music, which was a treat. This tour with Greg was without a doubt the highlight of our trip, he was incredibly knowledgeable about Hawaii and Lost which is exactly what we were looking for. Not a Lost fan? He has lived in Hawaii all his life and the tour would have been just as meaningful without the movie references. I only wish that we planned to come back again as I would book the Jacob lighthouse hike as well. I guess at some point I'll say "we have to go back!". You could certainly make a list of what you want to see and tour Oahu on your own but you don't get to have the same experience as having a native guide you through it. We have talked about going to Hawaii for years,…read moreand when we finally made the decision to go, taking a Lost tour was a huge part of the scheduling/ decision-making. So my expectations were pretty high! Dave was our guide and we ended up having a private tour for the three of us (my husband, the true Lost fan, me [I did watch the whole series once through] and our 15-year-old son, whom we had forced to watch a few episodes. The screencaps from the show set the stage, so we could really see/ remember the moments filmed in each spot. If you are a Lost fan, this tour will meet every expectation. If you're not into Lost, I suspect that their non-Lost circle tour is just as amazing.
