Never ever would I think I'd be writing a recommendation for a dentist, let alone a pediatric dentist! First time for my 3 year old. It was time and prompted by a discolored tooth due to a recent fall. I assumed the worst as we walked in. The only time my son was upset was when we had to leave. From the moment we walked in we felt welcome and safe. A tech took us back and connected immediately with my son, cleaned his teeth and gave an easy hand off to the dentist. Luckily, the discolored tooth was just that. No issues and great dental hygiene otherwise. I am left so impressed by Aloha. My kids run into the door going to Aloha. As a neurodivergent mom most appointments are stressful. But, Aloha made my kids feel empowered, educated and most importantly had fun at their appointment. I am so grateful for Dr. Ruehe and the amazing team at Aloha Pediatric for their excellent service and how they consistently show up to make my 6 year old feel and me always feel completely comfortable with any procedure and in answering all my questions over the last 3 years! My son actually looks forward to going to the dentist. He was extremely resistant to toothbrushing so had some early cavities. I felt fully informed about treating these early cavities with many options, from minimal to more aggressive. Dr. Ruehe kindly and thoroughly explained all the options, and was always fully present and so kind in every interaction. Dr Ruehe and the team have always gone above and beyond to ensure my child is comfortable, and feels in control; they even provide his favorite show to watch while they work on his teeth, so he really does not mind. They do not work with insurance but always offer to submit the claim, which is truly going above and beyond and saves so much time and effort! Dr. Ruehe is incredible. My kid was very nervous about the dentist and Dr. Ruehe & her team have made our experience so positive. They have been kind and understanding when my kid has been reluctant to participate in the appointment. They never forced him and after several visits he easily and happily goes to the dentist! This place is too busy, and highly overrated. Often there is a very long wait for an appointment, especially if you want to see the same dentist. The first dentist my son saw said that my son needed to have some of his baby teeth filled and that there were cavities on his permanent teeth but that she would not fill them, instead to use MI paste. She was not available at the time we needed to go, so we saw another dentist in the practice. The second dentist my son saw (for the actual fillings), whose name escapes me, did apparently fill at least two of his permanent teeth. For the price we paid, I would have expected him to at least notify me if the plan had changed. He also wouldn't listen to me that my son does not like needles, and that the previous dentist did not use them (even for fillings, and my son never complained of pain). I guess I should have known to ask about all this in advance, but I naively expected someone who is charging me a large sum to be more flexible and communicative. My son begged me not to take him back to this dentist, and swore he'd never eat other sweet again if I would please not make him go back. I am switching dentists today. read more

I LOVE them! I bring my 4.5 year old here and they have been superb. My son loves the dentist. We see Dr. Katsura. The only reason I gave them four stars is because I think the fine thing is kind of ridiculous. I mean, people forgot. You get a "freebee" the first time, but I think if you don't cancel 24 hours in advance, they charge you like a $25 no show fee or something. I already used up the freebee so I can't EVER no show. That's a lot of pressure. I love the kid friendly flavors they have, the toys (though cheap), the sunglasses, and the tips they gave before the first appointment to prepare my kids. no cavities yet! read more

I am an instant fan of Aloha Dentistry. We had a cleaning appointment for both children, but got a last-minute call that their machines were broken! But the dentist asked us to come in anyway and she said she'd look at their teeth and could see us later for the cleaning, if we wanted. When we were there, we showed her our son's loose tooth, and immediately, x-rays were taken and he was forced to get an immediate tooth extraction. This is his first dental appointment mind you (3.5 years old!). I cringed as they poked his gums with the big needle, but Dr. Megan was a pro. Then, she removed his broken tooth (toddler rough housing), which was broken into three pieces. She was gentle, helped him stay calm, and he loves the dentist now. He had a dental abscess, and instead of referring us to the oral surgeon, she did it herself. Our other son (they are twins), came and had his teeth looked at as well. And both left with some toys, as well as a "pretend dental kit" with gloves, a face mask, one of those dental mirrors, and a cleaning wand. They love the dentist! Yes, it's not cheap (trust me, as we had to pay out of pocket for now). But good dental health is important and finding a good pediatric dentist is very difficult. You do get what you pay for, and professional services aren't and shouldn't be cheap (says the lawyer). Thank you, Dr. Megan, for everything! Five big stars. read more

Arnold Nakazato D.D.S. is an amazing dentist! I just took my 3 year old in for his 1st dentist visit and it was a great experience. The entire staff is wonderful. My son was terrified to go to any dentist and he actually didn't want to leave after this 1st visit. They start off by explaining everything and asking the child questions about brushing. Then they let the child pick out a new tooth brush and brush their teeth at a kid friendly sink. Then they let the parent sit with the child in the chair and explain all the tools. My son even let them polish his teeth! At the end the child gets to pick out a toy and sticker. I highly recommend this place! read more

They're pretty good with the kids, but they refuse to deal with any insurance, which is a major hassle, and which also allows you to see their scandalously high prices. Also, they're very inflexible in the way they schedule appointments. For example, they will only do fillings in the morning, which means you have to pull your kid out of school rather than bring them in after school. If your kid needs multiple fillings, that means pulling them out several times. I'm so over dealing with how unreasonable they are. read more

Crazily overpriced. My daughter had two cavities . so they wanted two visits to fill them. A friend's son had 6 cavities -- so they wanted 6 visits to fix them (a visit per cavity). I get the sense they are just trying to bilk patients and their insurance for the maximum amount. They did not care for the schedule of the parents or the children. I immediately walked out, went to another dentist, who laughed when I told them about the 1 visit per cavity rule . . he filled both of the cavities at the same time, and according to him, that is just the way normal dentists operate. read more

Criminally overpriced. They spent literally 20 minutes with my 3 year old including helping him brush his teeth and charged $195 !? That's 2X what my dentist charges me... and he spends almost an hour! The Aloha dentist literally spent 5 minutes looking at his teeth... then they wanted to do X-Rays. By the way, my mom's a dental hygenist, so I'm not an idiot about this stuff. If you have dental insurance, maybe they are fine. Otherwise, it's a massive rip-off. read more

When I arrived at the office the staff was very friendly, they showed my little princess all the tools and my daughter (who is usually timid) even let them clean her teeth! I brought my highly sensitive 3 year old daughter to Dr. Khosrovani for a check up and to have cavities filled. Dr. Khosrovani could not have been sweeter. She was able to put my daughter totally at ease while she did her first cleaning. On our second visit, the cavities were cleaned and filled without any novocaine - just a bit of nitrous. I sat just a few feet away for the whole procedure. A previous dental office had wanted to sedate my daughter for this procedure which was ridiculously expensive and just seemed way over-the-top. I wouldn't have been allowed in the room and was told that they would strap my child down if they had to! (My child showed no signs of being a difficult child when all of this was told to me). The people at Aloha Dental are great at knowing what will put kids at ease during a dental visit. We will definitely continue to go back! Cheap toys, stickers, and even a play dentist kit = a happy kid! read more

Don't be fulled by the playful name. They may promote themselves on their website as "warm and caring" but that they are not. The are greedy and prey on parents' weaknesses and desire to do right by their kids. Two specific examples: 1) they don't bill insurance. WHAT? They want me, a busy parent, to do their work for them? Yep, they certainly do. So you as a parent must pay for the services up front and then work with insurance to get reimbursed. And, guess what--2) their rates are above what insurance will actually reimburse you for so you will always end up paying a certain amount out of pocket no matter way. I see no need whatsoever to accept this. My family fired this office after several visits and I know of other families who left for the same reason as well. Do yourself a favor and take your kids into a REGULAR dental office. They'll be just fine. And so will you. read more

I can't say enough good things about this dental clinic. My daughter is 3 1/2, and we just had our first appt. A year ago, she went to a different pediatric dentist & was just terrified. They weren't able to do an exam. At Aloha, Emmy -- the amazing & kind hygienist-- made my daughter totally comfortable. She was respectful and made sure my daughter understood what was happening, and she also made it fun. She examined a stuffed animal, showed my daughter the instruments in advance, and while looking at her teeth searched for my daughter's favorite Paw Patrol character in her mouth! Dr. Uritani was also lovely with our daughter. The office was open and comfortable. When I called to book, I received the help I needed to understand our insurance coverage, which they accepted, as well. On the way home, my daughter actually asked if she could go back! The answer was Yes, we will definitely go back. read more

The people here seem competent and nice but they should be because they charge an astronomical amount for what they do. The 15 minute cleaning they did for our kid cost $209. That is more than $800 an hour. Yow! As other parents have suggested it is much better to find a gentle regular dentist for your kid. read more

They charge more than twice than the regular dentists. They are sweet talkers. They have too many patients then they can handle. My kids have to wait two to three month before their cavities can be filled. That is too long! The cavity size can double in three months for a kid. Do yourself a favor to take your kid to a regular dentist. You are just paying more than double for sweet talks and long waiting period. read more

Horrible experience here. Aloha Dentistry obviously must not have adequate sterilizations practices. My 20mo son NEEDED to see a dentist to rule out dental problems and after we had arrived an administrator showed her ignorance and discrimination and refused us service. Dr. Katsura and his staff are great! I've never had any problems. The office only takes certain insurance but yes, they had let me know prior to my appointment. My kids always look forward to going to the dentist, the hand held devices and big selection of prizes makes it a WOW experience for my kids, to top it off the dental assistants are very kid friendly. This Dentist's office is wonderful. We have seen many dentists in many parts of the world and have never seen a place that was this helpful. They were very attentive to our friend's son, were excellent at interacting with children and had an assistant who also served as a (Russian) translator (Lana) on staff who was incredibly helpful.
