That said, I knew I wanted someone who specialized in fine line tattoos and I really liked the artists work, so I went ahead with it anyway. Analyn was pretty reserved/to the point but I didn't mind. She redrew and simplified the idea I brought with me to ensure it would work for the small size I wanted. She totally nailed it. Front desk staff are extremely kind and helpful. The place itself was clean and very sanitary. I came in to get my septum pierced. The woman at the front desk came on really strong and showed me all the options for septum rings and told me I could pick from any of them. She told me I was next in line, and 30 minutes later the piercer came out and told me that I had two options for piercing today and had to wait 2 months to switch it out. I'm frustrated that no one at the shop thought to teach the woman at the front desk what the piercing options are. I would not have wasted half an hour waiting if I had known that my options were a horseshoe ring or a ring with a bead - or the $600 14k gold option which I didn't want either! i got my septum re-pierced here, i had it for a year before it ended up closing because i took my jewelry out for too long. the guy who did mine the first time did it perfectly and painlessly to the point where i didn't even notice he had pierced it, so i was afraid coming in to a new shop. the lady was very kind i will say and i was super happy with the service and atmosphere. she however did pierce my septum crooked the first time by quite a bit, and at that point said my only option was to wait a month or get it redone at that moment, so i obviously did it then and there because that's what i came to do. it has made my healing process a lot more painful than the first time. however i do appreciate her pointing out that it was crooked, because i've been to piercing shops who will pierce it crooked and tell you that its not. i'd still come back, i also liked that they gave me options for the jewelry i put in because most shops start you off with a 16g horseshoe read more

Piercer was rude as hell, passive aggressive and condescending. I went in to switch out my piercing to a shorter bar because I was told to when I got it pierced a few months ago. He came out and we talked through options. I wanted to buy (NOT switch out) a new ring for my septum too but I didn't realize he went back to prep the room. I remember from my last visit the front desk mentioned only the piercers know how much the jewelry was. When I was getting my bar switched out, I was asked my question very casually just so I can hear more about the jewelry options and price points. He vented at me about how I can't just do this one thing after the other, especially as it was a very busy day etc. He literally spoke down to me and with the added power dynamic of me being a small BIPOC woman and him being a white man, it felt all the more condescending. I was confused and realized after I left that he THOUGHT I needed his services to get the septum ring too but I really just wanted to know the price point of the jewelry. It wasn't until after he said "oh you've had this piercing for 4 years? you'll be fine without me" that I realized he thought I wanted his help. I want to empathize and I did apologize because I was in shock and I felt really bad! I mentioned that I didn't know I had to do that (for asking a question in the middle of the appt versus at the top). But man, its so unprofessional to vent AT someone with a casual question for at least five minutes. I mentioned afterward that I just needed to know the price points and he didn't even apologize. Came here this weekend to cope with an existential life crisis in piercing form and Bambi couldn't have been more helpful. He was personable, efficient, and skilled, and deserves 5 stars for his restaurant recommendations alone. My artist was amazing, however I got a 5"x 3.5" tattoo and was charged $400! at the time I felt uneasy and should have walked out but it was a spur of the moment and had my heart set on getting a tattoo plus already had a baby sitter. I have a beautiful tattoo 4 times the size on my thigh and paid $450 for that somewhere else. I Rarely give non perfect reviews but they really need to stop over charging. I get it, it's art and their work and their choice, but I've been hearing from many people they way over charge. read more

Pathetic honestly. I came down from Duluth and while I was here, decided to get a small tattoo done of a smiley face about the size of a quarter. The artist that did it was rude, and charged me $160. When I went back up to Duluth & asked a shop (Gitchee Gumee tattoo) how much they would have charged, they said $75. IT GETS WORSE. I also have gone to the tattoo place to get new nose jewelry, and they always only ever charge me for the jewelry and don't charge me for help putting it in. Aloha Monkey charged me 42 bucks for a new SMALL STUD and $15 to have a lady put it in. She could have taken a piss in the amount of time it took for her to put it in and they wanted to charge me $15 for it. Save your time and money and go down the street to Rockin tattoos, or hit up Gitchee Gumee on the north shore. They don't scam ya like these people do read more

I just got my belly button piercing on Sunday. We barely talked about the placement all she had discussed was that she would be putting it in the middle as best she could (which I agreed because it should be in the middle) when I stood up it looked normal & decently place in the middle. When I got home I laid down & noticed it is actually sitting above my navel then went to the bathroom & looked at it which it definitely could've been a little lower... In fact it should have been placed lower then she put it because I noticed even the piercing itself was sticking upwards. I completely wasted over 100$ on this piercing. Had to take it out. I went in on my 18th birthday at 12 pm for a walk-in at first it seemed great was seriously looking forward to my first tattoo, the lady helping me figure everything out was very helpful but then I learned they have a minimum price for tattoo, not 50. Not 80 but 150 or something around there, I wasn't stoked about the price but I had nothing to compare it too and I was just so excited to get my tattoo, so she tells me it'll probably be about 2 hours til I can get mine done, again kinda annoyed but I will deal with it, they won't call you when your time is up but rather you need to actively call and show up to make sure you don't miss your spot. I come back 2 and a half hours later to be told it'll be 3 more because someone else came in before me, then that person's tattoo gets done I go in and I'm out in 3 minutes no joke, a 3 minute tattoo, I still like the tattoo but it lost ink in the center of the semi colon and I believe that could have been avoided had it taken 30 more seconds. Then me being the airhead I am I didn't think about the fact that I have to tip my artist too on top of the 150 tattoo that is barely bigger then an inch. Let me be clear I love my tattoo but I would have loved my tattoo for much cheaper somewhere else, if you want a tattoo that's worth it and exceeds expectations then DO NOT COME HERE. read more

this shop is extremely overpriced for the work they do. expect to pay 300+ on literally any tattoo you want no matter how small or simple. the staff are all extremely cold and have a major superiority complex. the piercers know what they're doing even if they give you the stank face, and the tattooists are pretty hit or miss for quality. the energy is extremely uncomfortable in the shop, i definitely won't go back anytime soon.. id recommend driving a couple hours to a small town to get the same quality for over half the price! read more

The front desk lady was really cool and kind - But the artists were standoffish and rude. I have tattoos from pretty well known artists and they were not even close to as arrogant as my artist at aloha monkey :/ . My work was just some lettering and I've only had it for about 2 years and it's terribly blown out- (my diy tattoos from when I was a teenager look better)- as is the work of my friends who did this same walk in with me. I have been tattooed by many artists. This establishment is the worst. I came in to get a consult to cover a tattoo they did 15 years ago. I was told I had to make a $150 deposit to get the work done. I was called 2 days later and told the person I scheduled with was a guest artist and could not do the work. It would possibly take 2 appointments with someone else. I asked to have the deposit refunded and they refused. I will NEVER go back here, and will report them to the BBB. When it came to meeting the artist, didn't introduce himself just asked if the design looked good and I asked for it a little bigger, no biggie. I got a bible verse on my forearm and I thought it looked very nice, just simple lettering. A couple months later I noticed it was very slanted and crooked!! right in the middle of my arm and it is highly noticeable. I've always heard poor things about this place, today I found out why first hand. First of all, the receptionist-- super rude, I did not see any polite interactions with her and ANY costumers. Waited forever with NO updates and when asked it was always the same "oh it'll be just a few minutes." No discussion of price before hand, prices of jewelry not listed and even the price that we had been told was not correct. THEN what really topped the cake, Had a baby there, did not even know he was there-- totally quiet, well behaved child. Was trying to put him back into the car seat AS WE WERE LEAVING and he cried MAYBE 4 times and the rude receptionist started going on about "how she was worried about this and he wasn't allowed in there" THERES NO SIGNS AT ALL ABOUT NO KIDS BTW AND we were leaving, clearly. Multiple people around also said how ridiculous she had been to even go on about the situation.
