This place doesn't look like much but it's pretty good Mexican food at fair prices. The best part is that it's open 24×7. For us folks that work crazy hours that's a blessing. I really like their Breakfast Machaca burrito. It's huge and fat and add the green salsa and it's so so good. It pains me to write this: Almanza's has fallen on hard times. Once a favorite taco shop of mine in Northern Colorado, with the best Carne Asada Burritos outside of my hometown of San Diego, it is now a rundown and dirty place serving low quality food. Ground meat passing as carne asada, discolored guacamole, bland hot sauce compliment the dirty, uncleaned booths, a floor strewn with debris, and lack of air conditioning. The silver duct tape over menu prices, washed out food posters, and large statements posted on neon signs threatening that there will be no returns for wrong orders has guaranteed that I will not be going back anytime soon. I know that it has been tough on restaurants this year -- and the employees who work in this fabulous industry. I sincerely hope the owners are able to right this ship and bring Almanza's back to its glory days and once again remind me of my childhood in San Diego. read more

Just ordered 4 breakfast burritos. It's 10 am on a Saturday and the lady in the drive through window gave me 2 hot sauces I asked for more hot sauce she brought back one cup. When I told her "I bought 4 burritos and your only giving me 3 hot sauces!?" She told me no more were out. What a load of BS. read more

Ok, so I haven't actually been to this place, but at least once or twice a month my husband brings me home a take out order of the Carne Asada with fries(as it's on the way home from where he works). Incredibly average Mexican food...upon entering I thought I was at one of the "hole in the wall" gems I used to go to in Cali. I was quickly disappointed. The pros: the carne asada burrito and taco platter we ordered had nice juicy pieces of meat and the pico de gallo was fresh. Their red salsa had good flavor with the right amount of heat. The cons: the food lacked flavor. Pico de gallo needed salt and lime juice, the green salsa and avocado sauce tasted bland, and the chips we ordered were burnt. My roommate and I just got back to our dorm after ordering drive through. Every single thing tasted the exact same: PLAIN. The food was all cold and flavorless. Pretty sure they used French Fries instead of breakfast potatoes in my burrito too. Grease was pouring out of our quesadilla to the point where you feel sick eating it. My husband ordered 2 breakfast burritos, 1 with ham sausage and Pico de Gallo and 2nd burrito was bacon sausage with pico de Gallo sour cream and guacamole. She kept wanting to put potatoes in them when he never said anything about potatoes. He went over the order 2 different times and she still got the ENTIRE order wrong and ended up charging him waaayyy too much and ended up giving him a burrito he didn't even ask for! She didn't even mark which burrito was which so we ended up having to tear up the burritos to open them to find out which was which. Then she gave me a hard time about giving me my money back. I wouldn't recommend this place of my life depended on it because these people that's running it is stupid. A bunch of idiots that should not have a business. The next day he went to go get his money back and they wouldn't even let him explain to them what was wrong with the breakfast burritos and they jumped a $10 bill in his face and slam the door in his face. I was pleasantly surprised with how AMAZING and flavorful my tacos were. The tacos are HUGE and the tortillas taste authentic. $3015.91 WAS CHARGED TO MY ACCOUNT INSTEAD OF $15.91! I'll make this as brief as possible without leaving out too many details: Do not use a card here unless you plan on being overcharged thousands of dollars. I came to this restaurant and purchased $12.91 worth of food and left a $3.00 tip on my debit card, which was charged as credit. When the charge hit my account two days later, I was charged $3015.91! My wife and I Immediately contacted our bank. The bank said the issue would take up to 10 days to resolve. Our account was -$2800.00, so obviously 10 days would be an issue. When we contacted the restaurant, the cashier would not allow us to speak to the manager because he did not speak English, and apparently would not be in for a few more hours. The owner was out of country for a few weeks too, apparently. The cashier promised they would call us to resolve the issue as soon as the manager came in. No call. We had to call the restaurant two more times before they came with a resolution. Apparently, they did not have the means reimburse the money on our account, and offered to pay in cash. In the end, I had to go to this place and count $3000.00 in 100, 50 and 20 dollar bills ON THE FRONT COUNTER OF THE RESTAURANT! Completely visible and vulnerable to the questionable looking folks behind me. This is NOT a great way to resolve a huge mistake with your customers. The issue was resolved in the most unprofessional manner. I would be lying if I didn't say I felt my safety was at risk while counting a wad of bills in front of everyone. read more
