Alan, who owns this company, immediately responded to my inquiry about a cost estimate for a round trip pick up and drop off from Chula Vista to the TJ airport. The price was very reasonable and at first I was hesitant to book since I could not find reviews online but reading his website I made the decision to book with him and I'm glad I did! Alan picked me up promptly and even agreed to pick up my family at another location nearby. I found out that he lives in TJ with his family so he knows the area well and that he has been taking people not only to the airport in TJ but also drive people (including some businessmen) around the city and beyond (Ensanada, Rosarito, etc) I paid him half when he dropped us off at the airport and then the rest when he dropped us home after we came back from our trip. I would definitely book another service with him the next time I fly from Tijuana or even a day trip to the southern part of Baja California.

Like others I found this fellow on tripadvisors and most were good reviews. But in this case Alan, the owner, left four of us stranded at TIJ airport Sunday, Dec. 5 @ 7:30pm with no phone calls or messages alerting me of a problem, and I had pre-paid in advance with Paypal as he insisted! He was late by 35 minutes picking us up in San Ysidro for the transfer to TIJ airport on our outbound flight a week earlier, which could have, but didn't tip me off yet to his false promise of service. Do NOT trust him or his service the way we did unless you prefer lip service to real service. I have still NOT received a phone call or message, apologizing or explaining what went wrong...even a lame excuse would have been better than none. There was NO MISCOMMUNICATION with pick-up day or time on our return either. I sent two emails which he confirmed weeks earlier, talked with him about it on the ride to TIJ and a third email while in Mexico reminding him of the pick-up on Sunday. Needles to say, for the first visit to Tijuana Airport and arriving at night to get abandoned by your transfer company turned out to be a harrowing experience for my wife, her older sister (age 60), brother-in-law (age 65) and myself. From transfer across the border to hoofing it on foot with all our luggage was not a pretty sight. Stay CLEAR OF THIS GUY AND HIS COMPANY!! He talks a good line but does not deliver.

What I was looking for was a driver who could give me "show and tell" of the coastal SD cities and neighborhoods as I am looking to relocate and currently in the market for a new home. Whether I can actually afford one of the gorgeous coastal homes is another matter :) I explained to Costas that I wanted to view the ins and outs of the coastal areas from Del Mar all the way up to Carlsbad and that I wanted a driver who had decent knowledge of the different areas. He hooked me up with one of his drivers, Rick. Although based out of La Jolla and having to drive up to Carlsbad to meet me, Rick arrived to pick me up at my hotel right on the dot. I was surprised and not used to this, but he actually got out of the limo to open my door! Wow, what treatment! :) Without getting into too much detail about my actual trip (I don't think we're allowed to call it a tour), all I can say is that Rick is a fantastic driver who's very nice and friendly, polite, courteous, and very knowledgeable about San Diego County area as a whole....as I believe he said he'd lived in SD since the 70's. He was able to answer all my questions and advise me on good and bad points in and about different areas. And, in just over two hours I got to see the beaches, streets of quaint little stores and restaurants, and best of all, through back streets where the secluded luxury homes are located, and that I would certainly never have found going around on my own. This was exactly what I was looking for and Rick delivered more than I had ever expected. Although I don't think he typically does this kind of service, I think he did an awesome job nonetheless. Just a minor note that the hourly rates will be a little more, but I decided to give these guys a try as they were highly recommended. Due to my limited time in town I just didn't want to take any risks. I don't think Rick or A-Best typically provides this type of service and provide more of the usual point-to-point, event, or airport limo services, but I could be wrong. No harm calling and asking like I did.

Eek! Methinks not is what this company gets from me! BEWARE of limo company! Let me tell you how…read morerediculously crazy the owner is... I hired this company for 3 separate events dated 5/15/10, 5/21/10, and 5/30/10 (service not received yet for 5/30/10). The events were for a Temecula Wine Tour, A Bachelorette Party and the day of the Wedding. A verbal agreement over the phone was made on 5/11/10 with Anthony (who I'm pretty sure if the owner) to book all three events for a total of $915 (inclusive of 20% gratuity). The charges should have broken down as follows: 5/15/10 charge of $475, 5/21/10 charge of $220, 5/30/10 charge of $220. I had been doing my homework and called several company's to get a competitve rate. I actually found another company (A Royal Limousine) to beat the quote he initally gave me but he promised to match that price so I decided to go with Fifth Avenue afterall. Issue #1 - On the day of the first event which was a wine tour up to Temecula the driver had no idea what he was doing and went the wrong way into old town temecula which was completely saturated with traffic and it took us an additional 35 or maybe more minutes to get back on track. The mistake was minor so I decided not to worry about it even though it did technically eat into our time at the wineries. Issue #2 - On 5/22/10 the morning following the 2nd event I received an email stating I was being charged an additional $300 charge for damage being done to the vehicle pertaining to throw up on the outside of the vehicle. I immediately called the company that day and told them it was a mistake and they either remove the charge or we would not be using their company for the 3rd and final event. At that time, Anthony verbally told me that he would remove the charge on 5/22/10 and therefore we agreed to keep the final event with the company. However, after checking my credit card statement online today on 5/24/10 I noticed that the charge had not been reversed. I placed a call the company again to find out when the charge would be resolved and Anthony completely went off on me in an unprofessional and abusive manner. He even went as far as calling me inappropriate names! I could not even state my case to him, he was so irate! Issue #3 - I told him after he completely went off on me today regarding the additional charge to just cancel the final pick up on 5/30/10. He said he refused to give me a refund for any of the services even the one not yet used! I have already filed a dispute with my credit card company as this is completely unacceptable. I'm also very concerned with the fact that they advertise on the internet as Fifth Avenue Limousine (http://www.5thavenuelimos.com/contact.html) but that company is not listed anywhere on the BBB website. My credit card statement shows them as A Brilliant Limousine so that is the only reason why I knew to look them up as such. I'm concerned that the public will not be aware of the fact that they are a terrible company to use due to their horrible customer service and malicious practices. I am now out a total of $1215, and I no longer have a limousine for the day of the wedding!! I will have to now hire another company for additional money! This company has ruined and put a huge burden on the most important day! DO NOT USE THEM EVER!!!!!

I love Drinkabout…read more On the third Wednesday of every month, from 7pm to midnight, two buses from Brewery Tours of SD travel from Blind Lady Ale House to Hamilton's Tavern in a loop that hits pretty much all of the great South & North Park beer bars. The buses also stop at Small Bar, Live Wire, Toronado, Eleven, Tiger!Tiger!, Ritual Tavern, Sea Rocket, and Station (with easy acess to the new Stone store and Whistlestop). The bus stops at each bar every half hour so it is easy hop off the bus, grab a pint, and hop on the bus to the next bar. My tips to make the most of Drinkabout: Download the schedule from the Drinkabout blog so you know when the bus stops at each bar, and most importantly make sure you don't miss the last bus of the evening and get stuck walking back to your car. If you are coming from another part of town there is a large parking structure at 3829 29th St. that is a short walk to Ritual or Toronado to hop on the bus. Or, on public transit you can take the 7 route to 30th and University and walk up to Ritual or Toronado. Eat something! There are lots of good places in the area to grab a bite to eat before going on your beer adventure, or you can grab food at most of the bars on the route. The Drinkabout bus ride is free, but I highly recommend tipping the drivers as they are cool guys and deserve it.

In this ascendancy of all things North Park, DrinkAbout's low profile remains a surprising anomaly…read more Perhaps it's that on weekdays here the streets are less choked with travel writers from larger cities who later expound about our "trendy," "funky" and "culturally diverse" 'hood, thus denying DrinkAbout national exposure. But what about the locals? Every month I meet folks along the route who had never heard of it, or were maybe dimly aware of the schedules posted but never really looked at it. And they're always shocked to learn it's free. The bars on the DrinkAbout route need no introduction; all the stops have aggregate four-star or better Yelp ratings, and half of the route regularly lands on those increasingly common "best beer bars in America" lists. Additionally, several stops provide easy access to other great bars, restaurants, and services. DrinkAbout is a value add on top of all that: shuttling you between these spots every thirty minutes, cleanly and safely. There may even be impromptu pole dancing for your amusement while en route. If you live anywhere near the Parks/Heights, there's probably a convenient stop within walking distance or via the Deuce. If you're driving, the north/south center stops near Toronado/Ritual are the best places to leave your car, so you'll at the end of the evening you'll only have half a route to travel. And again: it's FREE. Please tip your driver!

The shuttle drivers will pass stops if they don't feel like waiting in traffic. The stops are clearly marked. FALSE. They are marked by small signs and do not designate the stops on the return route back. The drivers are competent. FALSE. They're rude and give incorrect and inconsistent information. Perhaps the most FLASE promise is that the shuttle runs until 8pm. This is a beyond false claim, in fact, it's a downright, ridiculously deceitful claim. We specifically asked our shuttle driver what time we should be waiting for the last "8pm" shuttle and he said 7:30pm just to be safe. We were there at 7:20pm...and waited for 40 MINUTES. We would've got to our destination walking in that time. When the last shuttle finally pulled up 30 MINUTES LATE the driver not only REFUSED to take us, but would not even drop us off anywhere on her return route and neglected to apologize. Talking to the valet revealed that this is a CONSISTENT and frequently complained about occurrence.
