It wasn't until I had major surgery with Dr. Scaccia about 7 weeks ago (the surgery lasted almost 5 hours) that I realized just how badly I'd been breathing all my life. I found Dr. Scaccia after deciding to look outside the city for help. A few things stood out right away: his office has parking, he has his own complete surgical suite right in the building, and he's clearly someone who's made a name for himself in the ENT world. His waiting room is filled with plaques, research publications, awards, and even TV and magazine features. At first, I wasn't sure what to make of all that, but now that I've gone through surgery and recovery with him, I get it. I can say with full confidence: He is the real deal. From the very first visit, it was clear I wasn't just another case. Dr. Scaccia has a fast mind and a direct way of speaking. At first, it can feel like he's talking over you, almost like his brain is already a few steps ahead. But once you realize how deeply knowledgeable he is, it all makes sense. He took the time to look inside my nose and connect what I was saying to what he saw, and right away he had a clear sense of the problem. By the second appointment, we were going over a detailed surgical plan, and I remember him saying he was genuinely excited for the case. That stuck with me. It showed how invested he is in what he does, getting real results for his patients. On the day of surgery, which took place in the same office where I'd had all my consults, Dr. Scaccia didn't just straighten my septum, he basically REBUILT MY WHOLE NASAL AIRWAY. He discovered my septum was too thin and weak, so he grafted it on the spot to reinforce it. He reduced my turbinates, cleared out scar tissue from years of infections that I didn't even know were blocking my sinuses, and he did a few more things that were explained and went over my head medically, but clearly weren't over his. What really blew me away was that after everything he did, there was no pain at all. Seriously, not even once. This was multi-level airway reconstruction. There was discomfort, sure, but not pain. Maybe that's due to his technique and high precision, or maybe I got lucky, but I think it's worth pointing out. Since then, I've been back for weekly post-op care, and every week I notice another level of improvement. I never realized how much energy I was spending just trying to get enough air through partially blocked passages. Now, I'm breathing in ways I never thought I could. It's practically effortless. It's been life-changing. His staff is also incredible. They're friendly, organized, and really on top of everything. They called me between appointments to see how I was doing and if I had any questions. They had all the paperwork ready when I woke up from surgery, and they walked me through every question I had afterward. The whole operation runs like a well oiled machine. Every time I go, the office is calm and never overcrowded. I found out he only does one surgery per day, which honestly explains a lot. He's not rushing between patients or juggling five procedures. If it's your surgery day, he's focused on you and you only. Whether it's that approach or just the fact that more people haven't discovered him yet, I feel incredibly lucky I found his place when I did. If you've been struggling with chronic sinus or nasal issues, I can't recommend Dr. Scaccia enough. For me, it's the first time in my life that I feel like I can really breathe. I am here to write a review to let others like myself who needed a caring doctor. And that is who I got when I first went to the good doctors office. Let's start from the beginning. My old doctor would not write a script or sometimes test even though I was in pain. And she was so impatient and harsh. I am a RSR for Frito Lay who had been injured on the job twice. My spine is not the same and probably needs surgery. In fact I do. Since my injuries I have gained weight and other health problems. Dr. Grosso has monitored every problem I had from Sleep Apnea to Diverticulitis. His diagnosis is right on the mark. He has ordered test or has given me medication for my problems. And he follows it up with a phone call. For Example. He sent me to Riverview Medical Center after seeing my Right Calf was bigger than the other. He was worried about Deep Vein Thrombosis. After testing I didn't have that but thank you doctor. When I first went to Dr. Grosso he may seem gruff at first but that is only because he cares. I do want him to tell me about how unhealthy some weight I gained. Who wants a doctor that just goes through the motions. We discussed weight loss with exercise and nutrition. Now, we kid each other each time I come. He knows my New York sense of humor and accent. And I know his. In fact he now has my wife as his patient for the last 8 years since she changed doctors herself. My wife, who is a hypochondriac since she had a medical problem in 2002 and now askes 100 questions of what she thinks is wrong with her. The same woman that looks 10 years younger than she is. But the good doctor answers every question she has and in fact my wife amuses him. The Good Doctors office is in Red Bank but I come to him even if I live in South Wall. Even Dr. Grosso asked me why wouldn't I get a doctor closer to me. I said why would I? Why change because of 25 to 30 minutes when you feel satisfied. And thats what we feel. From Dr. Grosso, to his assistants, Betty and Nancy and the others who work for him, you can't get better service and friendliness. From Nancy squeezing me in when I felt sick, to Betty who does everything, you are in great hands. So before I end this review my younger son started going to the doctor. So it is a family affair. She mentioned there had been new staff who made there error, but she was mean spirited and handled the situation poorly, leaving me feeling uncomfortable and humiliated as I left. I understand human error, but that older receptionist with the bad leg really hurt my feelings for no reason and I hope she finds a profession more suited to her standards.
