Long holds all week after calling several times finally got through today after waiting almost 40 minutes.. I assume this is due to the hail storms and the damage from the Fourth of July storm. After many calls and emails, a representative finally admitted in writing that they received the payment but applied it to the wrong account. Because of their mistake, I lost my coverage and had to get insurance with another company. Now they're holding my $3,984 and won't return it. Calling only gets me an automated AI system, and the representative who admitted the error stopped answering my emails. They know it was their mistake, yet I still don't have my money back. I've had to take this to the Better Business Bureau. Think twice before trusting them with your home.

Tomorrow I will be calling our independent insurance agent to get them shopping for an alternative…read moreto the AARP-Hartford insurance. We have been with this program for a number of years, bundling home and auto. Yes, the rates keep going up each year, which is to be expected. Last year seemed on the excessive side, but I let it roll. Today I realized that they are proposing a 71% increase in our premium for 2026 to 2027. What?! We are mature adult drivers with less than 10,000 annual miles of driving. My husband had a recent minor accident, but I don't believe that has even entered into the calculation for the new premium. There was no damage to the other car, very minimal damage to ours, and no injuries. No tickets or other accidents on record. 71%? What I see online is other consumers reporting that their rates were going up 45 to 50% in a number of cases. Once they shopped other providers, they were able to get much better deals. I sure hope that will be the case when our agent shops options for us. Just on general principal, I want to get away from Hartford as soon as possible! It's a good thing our renewal time is almost here, and we will be moving on away from them. Their partnering with AARP to save older drivers money seems to have turned into a bad joke, bordering on a scam.

He found a carrier for me within 4 hours that met my coverage and price expectations. Later in the year, when I needed more insurance on a larger policy, I called Bruce. I told him I had to figure out coverage within two weeks. After about a week he found me a policy at 3/4 of what I had expected to pay. I believe he went above and beyond to find this carrier because I had previously priced this type of insurance with two other agents. I have had 6 interactions with Bruce in his office and I will say that I fully trust his opinion on all aspects of insurance. I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone moving into the area looking for insurance consultation, a homeowner's policy, life, small business, or auto policy. His office assistants are in my experience responsive, friendly and professional.
