More than three months after closing I received an email from the agent that the carrier was "no longer" insuring coastal property and that I had two weeks to find a replacement policy. It turns out that the underwriter had rejected the policy back in June because the carrier does not insure coastal property! I was lucky that I had no incident during this period because I was not covered. I wish the owner, Steve Gebhardt, had admitted his company's mistake right away. Bait and switch. I'm…read morelate getting to this but I had a co-worker who connected me with Scott for our first time home purchase and was looking at quotes. I spoke with Scott a number of times and received different quotes for Home and car bundled together but ultimately we just decided to stick with the home insurance. Through text (that I still have on my phone today) I told Scott we just wanted the Home owners and confirmed the amount it would cost. He confirmed he would remove the car insurance and sent me another quote. Great, that info was then sent to the lender who confirmed and even the day of closing the amount was confirmed on master closing document. Everything was good to go. Well about a couple weeks into our new home I get a email from Farmers telling me my quote amount has changed and I need to pay up for the difference. I was confused so I tried reaching out to Scott who consistently ignored my calls and would not respond to my text. Once he responded through text he told me the amount changed due to the car insurance being removed, even though he already knew this but nonchalantly made it seem as it's my problem cause the deal was done. I re-texted the actual text of where I stayed I did not want the car insurance which he wasn't a big fan of I would guess. I spent a month going back and fourth talking to people from Corporate explaining my story over and over again about how this needed to be changed and how he submitted false information and confirmed false information. I even spoke with the area manager Cleavon who only recommended switching agents since there was nothing that could be done. I'm not here to bash him but he obviously is dishonest when it benefits him. All he had to was admit his mistake and take the necessary effort to correct what had purposely done wrong. As a seller with his experience he knows this but unfortunately I fell victim to the game. Knowing that you can be given a quote, have a quote submitted, actually sign confirming the amount on your closing day and a couple weeks later get a letter saying your amount is different is ridiculous. Nothing can be corrected or changed is a total bait and switch and is a obvious business practice that I would guess happens not too often but when they can get away with it. I don't believe he does it everyone of course but this certainly was my experience.

Once I did, (thinking I was matching my existing coverage) every few days the premiums were adjusted and I was told they could be adjusted up-to thirty days after the policy goes into effect - yes apparently that's in the fine print! I fought that because of the written documentation I had saved where I had provided correct information. Eventually I had a claim but after being told it would be covered and that I had "full coverage" I was told it was not covered. I switched mid policy term because I didn't want any of my property to be insured by dishonest people. Beware of all details upfront - communicate ONLY in writing and refuse to pay higher premiums AFTER you sign up.
